Traditional Archery- HOW I SHOOT A TRADBOW- Instinctive shooting

  • This is HOW I SHOOT a TradBow.
    This is by no means a tutorial on shooting. This is simply Instinctive shooting. Draw, anchor, shoot. Practice Practice Practice. That is how you get better.
    Gap shoot or string walk... if you want more accuracy that is!! Other than that, Instinctive shooting is all about arrows down the range! Shoot everyday!

    Excellent job letting them know it's about how YOU shoot. That's very important and it's so true that the path to instinctive proficiency is long and filled with practice. No easy way here. Thanks for sharing.

    For myself, I start at 6 meters. If I group my 2 arrows, I go back 2 steps. And I continue as far as I can... Very fun, very helpfull to get accuracy.

      Thanks, But define a group of 2 arrows... at 20 what is a good group? I'd say 6" is a good group at 20 but 3" is better.. I ask questions like this just to get feedback to whether or not I am average or below average... I think I will do a video on it to get a proper perspective of what effective range is amongst Trad archers.

      @@gunshyarchery When I say grouped for my 2 arrows, (I must convert in inches...) I must group my arrows in 3 or 4 inches maximum at each distance I shoot.
      But you know, I saw another video (and I said same thing to me) I thing Bow arm is most important than draw arm. If your bow arm always pushes correctly in direction of your target, you'll have a better accurate. That's my feeling too. "The Push Matters More Than The Release"

    It's all repetition you have to learn the arc of your arrow
    You're right, UA-cam influencers have made this a lot more complex than it has to be.
    Just shoot a lot your brain will adjust
    The book " instinctive archery insights " by Jay kidwell is one of the best if not THE best book ever written on this stuff.

  • @rootjr.3658
    @rootjr.3658 Рік тому +1

    For anyone wanting to learn to shoot instinctive, you have to pick a spot on the target then focus on that spot. You shouldn't be able to even use your arrow as a reference, because all of your focus is on that spot. This guy is right about that string walking and gap shooting will produce tighter groups. Instinctive excels at being able to make first shot hits at unknown distances. Like throwing a football or shooting a basket in basketball, its about your subconscious and muscle memory.

    Nice! You are showing the difference between long & recurve bows! it's more instinctive were a bow hunter can make a shot from many angles! Compared to cam bows with all their pins and cam release brakes! I think most of the cam bow hunters would crap in their pantaloons pulling back a 45 or 50 lbs bows and taking a shot! I like how you show its about the anticipation of the arrow drop to the target! It wasn't Until they invented the six shooter that White's even had a chance against the Comanche's in a moving battle while on horse back riding towards you at full stride, dropping sideways on a horse a putting six arrows in your one shot ass before you could say General Custer! Oh yeah they could ride pretty well too! Nice!

    just stumbled upon your videos man and got to say good stuff. I like videos from people like you, who are real bow hunters not just influencers. Can I ask, when you get too 40 and you switch to aiming down the arrow, are you closing one eye or keeping them both open still? I have noticed that when I reference the arrow I cannot do it unless I close my left eye (I'm a right handed shooter).

    • @gunshyarchery
      @gunshyarchery  Рік тому

      Thanks Eric, appreciate it. So at 40 I keep both eyes open, my right eye is considerably stronger than my left so I can easily focus with both eyes open. Same as shooting a compound or rifle, both eyes open. But I don't see an issue closing one eye when the time comes. What ever is most accurate. Actually that's not how I live my life, gap shooting is most accurate, and I don't do that... so shoot how ever you want! I shoot instinctive until roughly 40, so who am I to say "shoot what is most accurate". Thanks for watching Eric.

I shoot instinctively under 20 but my point on distance is not as far as yours. I’m pretty well zero at 30. But, I try to keep the stands at under 15. Lol

      One other thing to take into consideration regarding 3under or split, if you have a longer draw and a shorter bow you can start having string pinch problems with split, even if it's not uncomfortable you can still find yourself effecting the nock end of the arrow on release.
      The flip side is I've found split to be a little quieter, probably something to do with the limbs being in balance... Maybe (although if you stump up for a custom you can ask them to tiller for 3 under).
