Amazing podcast. It's really refreshing to see these comedians kinda being themselves, like not having the pressure to "be funny". On most comedians podcasts' I feel people watch them to laugh, but here people just want to listen and maybe learn something new about this big world. Good job Ari!
I've been mates with Tommy's son for 25 years, he's a great dude, my mother was being bullied by our neighbours at one point so he showed up and made a show of hanging out with her in the front garden, the neighbours were so confused they all left her the fuck alone.
Great to see Tommy coming across the pond! He has one of the most popular talk shows in Ireland as well as being a part of one of best podcast (RIP to THL). His comedy has always been great, but listening to him and his stories is always a treat!
You know that story of the father and the mother who lost their kids hits home hard! I’m Somali and my god our parents especially our mothers are built different. Their resilience is next to none and that’s due to the unshakeable faith in Allah. Our problems are mainly of our own, poor leadership, tribal Divisions, social unrest but external forces sowing problems in the country. I asked everybody to research Somali history prior to the civil war and how beautiful it was.
Ari, we need another episode of you getting interviewed by Colum. Also, next time you're on Story Warz, you should use your executive powers to make the theme travel stories.
The funny part is that they see you guys as being more lost in the sense that you are morally/spiritually in chaos. They might be more poor now, but the culture gives you a sense of gratitude and appreciation. it was honestly a privilege to grow up with the Somali mindset around those areas. No amount of resources will make you happy if you are not able to see clearly.
Really? I found this brutally slow and in parts very self-important. He is definitely talented and I like him in other stuff I've seen, but this was a tough one for me. "What did you eat?" "I don't remember." "Where did you go?" "I can't even remember the names." I see why Ari had him, because he's a big get, and on paper Tommy Tiernan in Somalia seems great, but this was not it.
@@AlexSoutheyMusic I mean it's a little self important, but like he was saying he's acting as a mouth piece for people who don't have one. He's there to fill that role. Just him talking about the famines devastation and the people he met really had me
Love this, love Tommy , love the realism and window in. Also feel comfortable listening to Tommys insights on it because he lived it in our (Irish) shoes if that makes sense. Just growing up listening to him it gives it some credibility for me in my race/culture. Not at all meant to take away from anything but as a person I can relate to in Ireland , I can understand and appreciate his perspective. Again it’s not meant to be a definitive outlook. Just something in my “clan” I can relate to in a number of ways. I love it and love Tommy. Hope to see him on jre
