Another big thanks to VOIN for sponsoring!
We're so back.
Edit: You cutting it before testing the Firstborn only made me go buy and download the game even faster. "Fine, I'll do it myself!"
Recording a new vid today (had to wait to release this one) where I show off a couple Firstborns. They are EXTREMELY powerful and the combination possibilities are wild.
@Beelz55 You're too late. I'm already working towards my first primeval. (I'll watch anyway).
Graphically the similarities between this and Witchfire are staggering
VOIN has a slightly more low poly feel to it. There's a filter in the settings to make it feel a bit blockier like a PS1/PS2 title. But for the video I turn that off. I can't remember what Witchfire uses but it could be that both games use the same engine.
Never caught a vid this quick before 😊
Can't wait to see speed runners to find fun jank for this game
You missed a chest before the big drop down where you picked your first chest walk back to the third brazier look up to the left side and you see a green glow there is a chest up there
The weapon combining mechanic is interesting. On the one hand, I tend to like that kind of thing and the potential for putting together wacky combos, like your idea with the bell, seems fun. On the other hand, it seems to undercut the idea of having random drops, because you can only combine weapons at one of the rarities and they lose their randomized affixes when you do it. Personally, I'm not a big fan of random loot and inventory management, so I'd be really happy if they decided to lean more into playing with the bespoke effects and weapon forms to create something personalized, especially if it means hunting down the gear you need becomes more about actually finding it and overcoming challenges to obtain it, rather than grinding the same battle repeatedly, hoping the right effect drops on the right color.
With that said, I am a bit disappointed to see that the effects of the combined weapons don't seem to really interact with each other or take which weapon they're on in to account. For example, it might have been interesting if putting the bell on the poison blade resulted in the bells lasting for more hits, but dealing reduced toxic damage instead of psychic damage. And, of course, putting the poison on the hammer would result in some other effect. As it stands, it seems like some orderings would be strictly worse, unless you REALLY prefer one move set over the other.
Speaking of your idea with the bell on a fast hitting weapon, it seems like the bells are capped at four hits, rather than a specific duration, so how much do you benefit from making those hits faster? Also, on the topic of the bell and the poison blade. If I understood the blade correctly, killing enemies with it causes them to explode in a toxic AoE. Do you know if combining it with the bell (in either direction) extends that effect to enemies killed by the pulse?
Luckily it doesn't seem like Firstborns actually have more overall damage, just a combination of effects. So it's still beneficial to use the random traits if you want to stack them or benefit from a few of those. The tradeoff is that you need to create a set that synergizes with your firstborns, where as the random affixes can be found on every piece. Stacking up to a big benefit.
The multihit bell thing isn't really needed currently due to how quickly enemies die already. 2-3 hits and most enemies are dead. So faster bell hits are a moot point. Plus I really wanted to make sure the secondary effect besides the bell was strong enough whenever I didn't have them available.
Not sure on how the poison splash would interact with the bell. My poison idea is to combine both poison weapons. One applies 10 stacks of poison as an aoe when an enemy dies. But the other is the sword that build a stack per hit, and on the 11th application the poison detonates, dealing its damage in a burst. My hope is these effects will cause a chain reaction of instant poison popping.
Oh yeah! We are so back.
This game was dope i played it a couple months ago on my rog ally. I had a lot of fun.
yep
Thank you Beelz, I played this during NextFest and was addicted right away. Already bought EA. Instant buy.
Can't wait for the full game, looks like it has tons of combinations and shit to play with.
is there controller support? My hands really hurt when i use m and k for too long
Steam tells me it works with controller. You might need to tweak your sensitivity settings a little so you can turn the camera fast enough while zooming around.
I wonder if dev is russian, or at least somewhere from around, since "voin" is literally "warrior" written in transliteration.
I'm from Moldova. Most people here know both Russian and Romanian languages.
Makes sense. Artstyle is rad btw.
Heyooo!
How much content does voin have atm?
2 maps, each with a repeatable boss, 3 skills, a bunch of items for crafting builds and secret chests to find while exploring.
It's very early days for the game. If you just want to get in and clear each area/boss I'd say a few hours. If you want to upgrade all your equipment to Firstborn (I show more of what this entails in the next video), triple the time you took.
You're able to treat this as a first person ARPG (Diablo/PoE) if you want, farming items to make the perfect loadout etc.
@@Beelz55 ooh ill wishlist it and keep it ready to go
Beelz, my dear youtuber, try hellclock, a new roguelike action rpg
🥚day 80 of saying Egg🥚
This tutorial type video, I don't find engaging to watch, it was more "time to talk" then "time to SLAY" but maybe that was me who misunderstood the title, I was expecting to see reason to buy the game (combat and fun factor), not tutorial and history.
That's fair. This is my third video on the game but as it's designed for people checking it out for the first time, I had to go over how things work. You got a pretty healthy dose of the combat in this video though. Hack and slash with some skills and dodging in the mix. It's sort of like a first person ARPG (Diablo etc) so once you're comfy with combat the fun factor comes from making builds using different sets of items synergizing with each other.
H3llo
Is there news on the game you did before where it was just impossible to get better gears?
I really liked how it looked, but i hope the item rng got fixed and the biomes also changed a bit, instead of just the castle
You've always been able to upgrade your gear. So you could take a common (grey) item and upgrade it all the way to Prime (cyan). You now have the option to combine to Prime items into a Firtborn (red) which takes the first special effect (ones normally locked to the respective item) and mix them together. Creating a much more powerful item.
The video shows that the first region is now available and is the first one you go to before making your way to the larger castle biome.
