I've covered early demo builds of VOIN on the channel before, but it's just released in Early Access on Steam today and the folks at tinyBuild were nice enought to sponsor a video. This video features a whole new region (complete with boss fight), new weapons, new enemies and I've turned off the optional pixelation filter to really show off those beautiful views! A note on the health system (in case it's not obvious) - it only takes four hits to kill you, but you earn more health by attacking enemies, with stronger atacks regenerating significantly more health. So it rewards aggression and using more powerful attacks. Also, the weapons and equipment now have useful perks, such as one that summons a ghostly image of you which attacks enemies, and one where you release lingering spirits to increase your damage multiplier.
Heck yeah, always exciting to see a new upload fro ABG. Especially one that's so hot off the press. I wonder, what weirdness is on the docket for today? :D
You were not lying about the scenic views! Those are among the best maps I've ever seen in a game. You could ditch the whole combat and make this into a solely exploration game and would still be amazing.
How's the game feel about does it feel good to hit things. Because from the looks of it on the video from my point of view. it seems like very Shadow warrior but just with weapons.
Dig it. Skyrim/Amid Evil vibes but I HATE the bright turquoise highlights on enemies and the HUD - very cheap looking. What's wrong with white?Those almost tribal tatoo icons on screen are horrible. Menu looks a bit convoluted too. Architecture looks amazing. All in all very promising
I think there will be options to customize the HUD setup in the full game (there's currenly an "Interface" tab in the options menu but you can't select it yet. You can toggle the HUD on an off though by pressing F10.
I like what I've seen of this game, but the audio is distracting - the weapon sound effects are too loud compared to most other things, like +10db over the enemy hit responses, ambient music, and combat music. Needs to be balanced better, and it would be nice for some slight random pitch shifting of +/-5% for most of the combat audio.
True it feels like you see these cool areas and all that’s gonna happen is you go there and fight the same enemies you already killed before and your gonna fight them the same way by just swinging your sword from left to right

TIP if you don't like the camera bobbing :Options - camera bobbing, screen shake. Set both to zero. I'm loving this game.

No block mechanic?
No, I don't think so (unless the dev adds some sort of equipment with that ability). The dash/dodge ability is used to avoid enemy damage.
While the game looks amazing the fighting looks like you close you eyes a few times and enemy is gone. something is missing in the middle
the way weapons bob while you move looks goofy and overexaggerated lol
