I know that filming all the steps and documenting everything and editing all the videos is so much work, but that's why I stay hooked to your channel. So many UA-camrs decrease the amount of detail and amount of videos once they gain some subscribers. I enjoy someone showing me a CAD model of a stupid part or posting a 40min video of an engine rebuild. Again; I realise how much work it is but keep doing what you're doing, your videos are high quality, well edited, well filmed, and the details on some parts and choices you make enjoy and motivate me...
@@corruptedsavefiles previous video he said it was 225/50r15s, but aggressive compound etc which those kinda tires may fit slightly wider than listed. Always a good setup on smaller cars
Love hearing you speak brother. You are so eloquent and informed and make these videos fun and informative for both people who know this stuff well and the newbies. It was cool if you saw Ryan Tuerck’s Australia video that he shouted you out. Since you are getting a little famous I hope you’ll let us know when and where you will make yourself available at shows and such for meet n greets.
It always amazes me just how much you get done in an episode. Sure, it's s few weeks progress, but man i barely make 1/10th of that progress in the same amount of time on mine. Excited to see this all done and the videos to come.
To think of all the stories accompanied by amazing videos you’ll be able to share with the future generations of Burroughs kids. If I had any video of all the time the boys and I spent in the garage… it would just be hours of us swearing at VW/Audi engineering, subsequently swearing at each other, and drinking crappy beer. Man those were the good ol days.
Especially newer cars are swearing material. VW/Audi's are great cars, but swearing when doing those projects, man that goes hand in hand. But the end result is great. Older cars are fun to work with. I helped my friend a bunch. He daily's an A ford. Mad lad.
I'm currently restoring and fixing up a car I bought off my best friend of 25+ years. Originally bought it due to him losing his leg to cancer and it being manual but he just passed away last month so now it's going to be a tribute car to him. So this build definitely resonates with me.
Don't comment much, but, I'm making an exception. Your episodes are narrated in an insightfully heartfelt way. I always look forward to your drop. It's obvious the time and energy you put in these videos because the quality is never compromised. Your BMW journey feels similar to my Mercedes journey (the W203, C209 & CLC203). Excited for your E30 build.
Best UA-cam channel regarding car content. Can't believe you don't already have a gazillion followers. Keep up the good work. As an Engineer it can be hard to watch UA-cam Videos of people working on cars without thinking "he's got no Idea what he's doing". But whilst every single Video of yours is very much Interesting, the Way you tend to do what you do is a blast to watch!
As always, I love the storytelling. When you say dumpster, do you mean trash, or do you mean metal-recycling bin? Because there's a lot of valuable metal here that deserves to be turned into something else. You're a decent person, and metal recycling is the decent thing to do - it might not make you very much cash but you'll be doing something good.
Thank you for loving an e30! My dads e30 325 birthed my love of driving and cars. @ 8yrs old, I was allowed to shift from the passenger seat, and got to sit on his lap, steer and shift ... from the edge of our neighborhood to our house... A friends dad pointed out Datsun 510s in traffic as the "poor mans bmw" and a good first car suggestion.... cut to 2004 andBuying my first 510 @ 23 then daily driving it for the next 18yrs. All thx to the e30
I started watching this channel for the Ferrari build and journey (congrats again on the Australian adventure) and should have known that your non-Ferrari content would be equally as good. My favourite car channel bar none!
The M20B27 from the 325e has been popular in the past, while yes, only 127hp, they could be livened up! A friend has a E30, it used to be a 325e with an automatic, and he spruced up the stock engine, using the head from the M20B25, some cams, etc, some various things like headers, an Alpina ECU unit, intake, and such things, did get it to around 240hp, and it felt really feisty as they're not that heavy, and the 2.7 had a bit more low down torque it felt like, and I stumbled upon a Hartge rear diff with longer gearing good for 500+hp that he bought as well to help out... but turns out the cams were way too harsh and the engine ended up not being very happy after a few years, so he's back to a M20B25. But there is potential in those 2.7 liters! But quite honestly... I don't blame the swap, likely more power than you might have gotten by throwing money at a M20, from base. (and sorry about ADHD rambling, it's hard to just get to a point without about 20 detours first, or explaining things that don't matter to the point, or often personal anecdotes that no one really cares about, but I sometimes let one slide now and then, but often even after having written half an essay about a random thing... I'll look at it and realize why am I even writing this comment? and cancel it. But once in a while... just to make my brain happy, I let one slide if it's not too completely off topic, though now I'm suddenly rambling while explaining that I ramble... I'll just stop here.)
It’s amazing how you switch gears (no pun intended after the trans mess in Australia) to work on this e30. The spirit of your friend Cory is all over this and can’t wait to see this car when it is complete
Looks like the Cintas degreaser station we have at the dealership where I work. Thing works amazing when the fluids fresh/hot. If you ever want to restore any kind of rubber boots/grommets or plastic washer/coolant tanks, it will literally make them look like new. 👌🏼
What a great “Tribute build”! Love that you take care to address the faded paint work, although it’s only aesthetic… New-subscriber to the channel, but I’m very impressed with the content! Keep-up the good work, fellow “Mike”!
This man is my hero. The reason I love his channel is the attention to detail and cleanliness. I will never understand not cleaning as you go. Why put in 100s of man hours on a build to have it be dusty? Kudos Mike! 💯
So excited on this build, I love E30's and my dream is to own an E30 M3 one day. BTW, what are the specs of the BBS wheels on Corey's car? They look absolutely killer, are they 16's? Love the fitment and the big shoulder of the tyres, it makes them look more motorsport grade rather than tuning.
I saw the TN plates, can this be CARB compliant by any chance? Great filming and voice over on your videos one of my favorite channels for auto content
Mike, I absolutely LOVE your content. I do wonder how you can afford all of these parts all the time? Last I heard you maxed out credit cards in Australia. Not trying to pry, just curious about the economics of your projects. If you could share, I think it would be helpful to a lot of viewers. Full disclosure, I'm retired now, but during my road racing and Bonneville racing days I had a great advertising career that paid my bills. Either way, thanks again for the great content, looking forward to seeing the next steps on the Ferrari build. Cheers.
I've got a lot of awesome sponsors, which this would be impossible without. FCP Euro supplied all of the parts seen in this episode. I sold the donor motor off to buy the S52. Most of the suspension parts are sponsored, etc. I wouldn't be able to do what I do without my partners.
I know I'm an oddball but the BEST E30 I ever owned was my 87 325e. I much preferred the ETA engine and it would still be my choice today. Maybe I should check the local dumpsters for one :)
drove a 1986 325e until it was 25 years old and had over 250k miles on it. great car, and always passed emissions. traded it in on a new car because i had no room in my garage to keep it. biggest "repair" was replacing the clutch at 170k.
What're the logistics like for tackling a project of this magnitude? I want to do the same thing to my Saab (engine, trans, suspension overhaul, cleanup the interior) and it's a little daunting, to say the least. Is it all in a spreadsheet or project management software, or just on a whiteboard? Do you purchase all the parts up front, or as you hit each task? Any tips would be appreciated!
Just curious- is there any reason you didn't address the oil pump nut issue on these motors? It's relatively easy to remediate while the pan is off and I think worthwhile for anyone who's doing a 24v swap.
@@stanceworks Thanks for the reply! I figured that might be the case. Seems like a well kept enthusiast owned motor. Excited to see the rest of the build and hear that thing rip!
The other day - "So I maxed my credit cards buying this transmission" Today - "So I completely overdid it rebuilding this engine" Typical car shit hahahah! 😩 Build creep is real... This thing is gonna shred.
Hello I was watching your video and you did a shoutout to acsolutions. Im guessing you ordered the 24v kit and so did I , I had a hard time getting the lines in. There too short. I emailed acsolitions and they said they have a update line set and manifold for the kit. Question is did you get the updated version? Did you actually get the lines on?
Do you fellas not get cash for scrap metal over in the USA? Over here in NZ I separate the steel from alloy with the auto transmissions to get the best coin

The wheel and tire combo on you late friends car looks so good.
Any idea of what wheel and tire size it is
@@bobrijlaarsdamfor sure 15x8, possibly 205/50/15 but I could be wrong. Just a pretty typical setup on e30s

And as usual great work, e30 coming along nicely!
This makes me happy, some awesome people mentioned in this episode and I’m looking forward to more
Beautiful E30. Btw, you can manufacture air ducts on the front valance from the original covers in those wholes. Looks really good and finished.
Seeing you go back to work on an E series BMW takes me back to those early 2000's days.
Thanks Mike!
Lol never apologise that people aren't going to do these swaps, love all the detail and tips and tricks. 😊
Seeing this much effort go into a proper E30 swap is fun, gives me the energy to keep rebuilding my own E30!

I have that identical oil pan in my S52! You may have helped more than just one person... ;)
So jealous of this build 😍
I love your videos.

So excited for this one!!!
Awesome. Love this build! Keep it up mike

Love the show 👌
Here is my like and my comment.
Hope it helps to pay for your transmission 😉

I love e30s, especially the two door bodies.
Daily driver to Time attack in the next 3 episodes. Love the builds :)

Aww, the episode is over too quick!! 😭 Great work!! 👍🙌🤟

Imagine living in a country where you can throw a gearbox in a wheelie bin 🤣great episode as usual, E30’s are only bettered by E28’s ❤
Man I miss CHutch so much.
Nothing like a Bentley Manual and some forum research when owning an older BMW.
What sizes wheels and tyres are on Corey’s E30?

I have not received the new updated lines. I got the lines on, but it was tricky.
Another episode on those wheels? I didnt know you had it in you
Man I wished you would have painted the block. How could would that block look with black paint and M stripes on it, bottom to top?
It’ll be funny coming back and watching him call this car a daily driver when it becomes a full on track car
Do you fellas not get cash for scrap metal over in the USA? Over here in NZ I separate the steel from alloy with the auto transmissions to get the best coin
Those headers look very similar to the stock (real) S50 ones
Jesus that was just one commercial!!
M20b27 initially?
That automatic transmission received extreme prejudice. Not even going to a scrapper or recycler straight to the dump.
Thats the next 18:10 sorted 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Not even into BMW'S - but I'm into this series.
“It’s meant to be my daily” cut to 2 years later “ here is my fully build e30 ready to enter the world rally race” 😂
