It is a little frustrating to constantly see Leukocytes and Nitrites combined as a single entity, on so many of these types of video. I have been having low pelvic pain when urinating and frequency, but am only showing leukocytes alone on a dipstick test. I have been treated with Trimethoprim, but this has not stopped the leuks in my pee, or my symptoms. Just trying to illustrate that nitrites do not ALWAYS go hand in hand with leukocytes, and some recognition and explanation of that may be helpful!

    Hello,
Thank you for your video. I have a question. You touch briefly on the fact that leuk esterase and nitrites are signs of UTI. What I don't understand is when there is conflicting data.
For example: say you have a UA with negative leuk esterase and negative nitrite, but on microscopy there are few bacteria. Is that enough to say there is a UTI?
Or what if, there is a positive luek. esterase and/or positive nitrite BUT no bacteria on microscopy. Does that mean there is not a UTI?
And finally, if there are squamous cells often the UA is considered unreliable. I was hoping you could comment on this!
    Thank you,
    Kurt
