Larry LaLonde (Primus, Possessed) Bobby Gustafson (Overkill) Chris Poland (Megadeth) Mick Mars (Mötley Crüe) Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains) Andy LaRocque (Death, King Diamond) Fast Eddie Clarke (Motörhead) Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) Alex Skolnick (Testament)
+Simone Calloni Yeah, he is sorely missing here. Then again, anyone who was into metal and/or lived in Europe in the late 90's and early 2000's should already know him well.
In a world of two-finger idiot chords and obligatory double bass, speed and irrelevant, over-used legato prove you're the best. Forget that it's painfully obvious formal training is minimal or lacking altogether, I can play so fast, you can't detect all the notes that are out of key.
True, he's definitely one of my favourite metal guitarists. He always tries to add melody and flavour to the songs with his solos, it's rarely about "shred". He has a great sense for melody, composition and for when to use what techniques.
Just to go a little more mainstream, I always thought Mick Mars from Mötley Crüe was severely underrated. The man could write some nice hard blues. Those skills show up on the Girls and Feelgood albums for sure. A little more "punkish" in the early years however.
+Todd Fawver Dude those skills are even on Too fast for love. Listen to his bluesy solos on Starry eyes and his bluesy riffage on the title track. Take me to the top is a criminally underrated song as well.
+eddieisfiction LaRocque has his own unique solo style that is very melodic and compliments the rhythm very well, likening him to a Kirk Hammett "wannabe" is an insult.
+Snelle Fjöll Omg! Thank you, i was just about to comment about Ron Jarzombek! He's so fucking unknown yet amazing and an original player. Love Watchtower.
+Remi Pinel maybe it's because awards are shit. Tobin is certainly underrated in the metal community. He's almost a household name in the metal community.
Andy LaRocque is criminally underrated the rest of this list are just obscure to the mainsteam. Seriously everyone who goes beyond the mainstream knows of Piotr's guitar skill. Same with Gorguts and Obscura
+Mattulaak great post. Wish I would have read it before I posted mine. He's underrated if you consider public knowledge...if you consider the metal/musician community though- pretty well known.
Great to see John Christ on this list! Super underrated! Tommy Victor (also of Danzig as well as Prong) should be on this list as well. He seems to have endless riff ideas.
Andy Larocque is awesome. Actually for some reason ALL Diamond's guitarists are insanely underrated, including Denner & Shermann from Mercyful Fate. I'd put TT Baron from Coroner and Jim Matheos from Fate's Warning on here too.
fuck loudwire there list suck more than guitar world does its bull shit Adam isn't on the list but it took him how long to give alex lifeson credit he made 2112 does anymore need to said theses bands are garbage any tool doesn't deserve to be on same list as those dumb ass he can play a real riff they can't
Who are the rated guitarists? By underrated do you mean 'not famous'? Anyone would not know if these guys are 'criminally' underrated or not if you have no comparison. Would Jeff Waters make the rated list? James Murphy? Fredrik Thordendal? I'd be surprised if Andy LaRoque wasn't on the rated list. Kelly Shaefer, Jack Owen, Patrick O'Brien, Paul Masvidal?
The sign of a great guitarist is to be able to knock out one great tune after another in song after song after song, they just know what sounds good and produce good stuff far more often than other musicians. EG Iommi, Blackmore, Hendrix and all the others that fall in to this category. Of course there is a degree of personal taste to this.
Nice list, I add: -Lars Johansson (Candlemass): good at playing epic and monolitic doom riffs, plus his solos are fantastic -Hank Shermann (Mercyful Fate): master of creating memorable guitar riffs -Demonaz (Immortal): fantastic black metal guitarist, master in playing fast and cold riffs, listen to "The Sun no longer rises" for example -Snorre Ruch (Mayhem and Thorns) : he invented the typical black metal riff -Richard Kruspe (Rammstein): It takes skill in creating even simple but effective and catchy industrial metal riffs
10 underrated steve clarke, vivian campbell, adam jones, pat o'brian, chris poland, buckethead, john 5, wayne static, gus g, gary holt 10 overrated jimi hendrix, kirk hammet, wez borland, slash, steve vai, jake e lee, kurt cobain, synister gates, dimebag, evh
I love it how a list about underrated guitarists still manages to be extremely mainstream. Just to name a few: Michael Romeo Luca Turilli Gus G Tom Hess Olof Morck
I'd add Andre Olbrich. He's on some lists, but I don't think anywhere close to what his talent deserves. And of course pretty much every power metaller there is :-)
I agree, he is a very good guitarist and Blind Guardian is an amazing band. He hasn't ever been one of my top guitarists in my opinion, but I would still place him above pretty much any of the ones mentioned in the video.
@@leetorry Lol to be honest, I don't agree with my own statement after such a long time. I may not agree with the selection of guitarists, but yeah these aren't that mainstream except for King Diamond sort of
I think the Title was supposed to be " Top 10 guitarists most likely heard at guitar center wanking at full volume when i try to buy a set of strings. I love metal and all but... ya gotta draw the line somewhere. Whoever writes these clearly does not play guitar and cant be over the age of 14.
+Brian Cook I agree with the list sucks sentiment...but definately not the age thing. Most (if not all) of these bands have been around for decades. And several of them are very good in their own respect. Can't always judge a musician by the band they are in. And certainly can't judge a guy on a shitty 30 sec clip from a popculture list....but yeah, the list is shit..
While a lot of my favorites are on here, I would add: Denis "Piggy" D'Amour (Voivod [RIP]) Josh Elmore (Cattle Decapitation) Dan Spitz (ex-Anthrax) Lee Altus (Heathen, Exodus) Bobby Gustafson (ex-Overkill) Dave Linsk (Overkill) Merritt Grant (ex-Overkill) Ralph Santola (ex-Death, ex-Deicide, ex-Obituary) That's about all I can think off the top of my head at the moment. XD
Honestly, is nobody ever going to give Criss Oliva of Savatage the recognition deserved if 9 out of these 10 who are ehh okay guitarists are going to get recognition?
+Proton2112 No. Criss died a long time ago. Only did Savatage with his brother Jon, who was one of the eventual founders of TSO. Criss was fucking amazing and is rarely heard about outside of prog metal circles and it's a damn shame.
Proton2112 The guitarists of Savatage that came in after Criss passed away, Chris Caffery and Al Pitrelli, are the guitarists that followed the rest of Savatage into TSO work.
"underrated"?...someone cant be underrated in a thing if their skill in that thing, is deserving of their position. Everyone on this list excluding the number one slot, is terrible...i know bed room players who blow these cats out of the water
+Wes Hicks One of the only smart, sensible comments I've read in this whole comment section. Jesus christ, so many metal/guitar fanatics are absolute elitist, hipster cunts! It must be the "cool" thing to bash ever great guitarist, because of them being well known. Dimebag, EVH, Hendrix, Jake E Lee etc are horribly overrated? Yet the absolute bums in this video, that sound like my 8 year old brother trying to play guitar with his feet, are somehow awesome and underrated? LOL No1 was literally the only great, underrated guy. The rest don't have a patch o a lot of the bedroom players out there. The only guy I continuously agree with being overrated, is Slash, just because of HOW much people have always praised him, including people that don't even listen to or like guitar music. Hendrix is the godfather of guitar!! and is the reason for everyone that followed after him, which, in my opinion, automatically should remove him from overrated lists.
Embryoyoyo im semi familiar with most of the guys on this list, And im not saying theyre bad at what they do, but theyre by no means deserving of the title "underrated" they place pretty much where they should, if you want truly underrated guitarists who have amazing talent, check out Shawn Lane Ewan Dobson Jody Fisher Maddie Rice Wes Hauch the list could go on and on, and every guitarist i just mentioned is easily more talented than anyone on this list
***** there are plenty of underrated musicians out there and you can't name them all and for sure can't even know them all. This list tries to pick guitarist that are well known in a small group of people who really appreciate them. I don't know one of those guitarist you mentioned so i googled them. Two of them seem to play rock which hasn't to do anything with this list, two didn't even have a wikipedia entry, and the only one who fits is wes hauch who seemed to have been in the faceless which is the only one which may have deserved to be on that list. Also most of them play solo mainly. How do you expect them to find your favorite guitarists? They at least have to be a little bit more known so that they can even be found to make it on this list. Don't get me wrong, i don't want to be mean or something i just want you to look at this list in a different way. It's not perfect but that impossible anyway since it's preference which guitarist makes it on the list. For example I like exhumed and obscura a lot and although they got quite a fanbase i think they aren't apreciated nearly enough for their music.
that moment when the most musical and melodic parts of the video about musicians are the intro/outro sections. This is not metal, this is garbage. No wonder why they're underrated.
I've seen Immolation, Goatwhore and Vader live and all three bands are killer. Immolation has some of the most interesting song structures in metal. While Vader is just insanely brutal but precise and Goatwhore genre-bending. I think other guitarists that are underrated include Tommy Victor, Alex Hellid, Ol Drake and Jeff Waters.
I don't know if maybe they are not heavy enough, but Andy Williams and Jordan Buckley of Every Time I Die are amazing guitarists. Granted they moved to a more mainstream sound, but of them are very talented. I like to see Josh Middleton getting tons of love in the comments. I love Sylosis. Another one (not of traditional origin) is Brendan Small, the guy that created Metalocalypse and played all the guitars on the Dethklok albums is amazing.
Piotr W and Luc LeMay definitely deserve their spots on this list. Piotr is a beast, not just for his voice, but for his lyrics and virtuosity on guitar. A few honorable mentions should have been: Daniel Mongrain (Voivod and Gorguts,) Knut M.Valle (Arcturus and ex-Ulver,) Luke Jaeger (Sleep Terror and Solo Works,) Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth and Bloodbath,) Peter Wichers (Ex-Soilwork now turned Producer,) Jeff Loomis (Ex-Nevermore and Solo Works [*although he is not really an underrated musician, kind of like Mikael,*]) Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah and Fredrik's Special Defects,) C.H. Jesper Strömblad (Ceremonial Oath, Ex-In Flames, Hammerfall, and The Resistance,) Jonas Karlsson (Spawn of Possession,) Ryan Knight (Ex-Arsis, The Black Dahlia Murder, and [Now defunct] The Knife Trade) Dave Suzuki (Churchburn and ex-Vital Remains,) Waclaw 'Vogg' Kiełtyka (Decapitated and Lux Occulta,) Michael Keene (The Faceless,) Mathieu Pascal (Gorod,) A. Peter Tagtgren (Bloodbath[ Vocals Only,] Hypocrisy, P.A.I.N., & Lindemann,) Simon Girard (Beyond Creation,) and George M. Emmanuel III 'Trey Azagthoth (Morbid Angel And although I already know that they are quite popular, I have to mention Bill Steer of Carcass and Michael Amott of Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars. Just a thought though since I actually believe that Loudwire compiled a pretty good list of underrated metal guitarists for this video. Kudos to you Loudwire, and Cheers!
If anyone is underrated, it's that bassist at 2:00 dude was going IN
he was into the groove, brutaly
That list is so wrong.
Me and and Lil Wayne are not there.
+Luís Pedro Lol. Honestly, a blind wombat with Parkinson's disease could play guitar better than Lil Wayne.
+Al Kills All HAHAHA!
+Luís Pedro neither was Kanye west
+eddieisfiction LOL, you fucking guy... That made my night.
+Luís Pedro lil wayne and me, you meant. Lil is always the first one
You wanna talk criminally underrated, try Alex Skolnick
Testament is one of the most popular thrash bands
+LagginPotato Certainly not to mainstream metal fans
I agree. he's right fuckin up there with the best of them and nobody seems to bring him up
Hell ya that's true!!
Thats for damn sure.
Larry LaLonde (Primus, Possessed)
Bobby Gustafson (Overkill)
Chris Poland (Megadeth)
Mick Mars (Mötley Crüe)
Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains)
Andy LaRocque (Death, King Diamond)
Fast Eddie Clarke (Motörhead)
Kim Thayil (Soundgarden)
Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction)
Alex Skolnick (Testament)
Add ty tybur form king's X
LaRocque in
Richard Z Kruspe too
larry
Chris Oliva (Savatage)!
do a list with 10 metal bands with the biggest number of ex-members
we all know megadeth would be #1
I bet it's annihilator
Right, looking at the approximate time of a member besides jeff in the band you could almost consider it more of a project then a band xD
megadethinitely
Awesome seeing Steffen from Obscura on this list!
RelapseRecords when everybody ignores you even when you are one of the most prolific record labels
no jeff waters from annihilator?! he is the chuck norris of thrash!
Without him there is no list
agree
Annihilator itself is probably the most underrated band ever
Agreed
But he is not underrated. He's globally recognised as one of the best guitar players in metal. These are the best guitarists that few people know.
+Chris Maher Please tell me that you are joking.
At least 8 guitarists of this list are "underrated" for good reasons, apparently.
Agreed. Check Luca Turilli instead. Underrated guitarist.
+Simone Calloni And Tom Hess.
+Brandon Murga Tom Hess is awesome! and a real good guitar teacher also.
+nmlss listen to studio songs from exhumed, pigdestroyer, gorguts and obscura. The quality and maybe the songs on this list aren't optimal.
+Simone Calloni Yeah, he is sorely missing here. Then again, anyone who was into metal and/or lived in Europe in the late 90's and early 2000's should already know him well.
The ability to play fast does not alone make a guitarist great
True! Thought the same! just Play anithing fast without Melodie because the song doesnt have any Melodie too doesnt make you good!
This
@@nein4893 you dont listen to alot of metal.
Except most of the guitar players in the list arent known for just playing extremely fast ya moron.
In a world of two-finger idiot chords and obligatory double bass, speed and irrelevant, over-used legato prove you're the best. Forget that it's painfully obvious formal training is minimal or lacking altogether, I can play so fast, you can't detect all the notes that are out of key.
Andy LaRocque... one greatest guitarists of all time... but also the most underrated
True, he's definitely one of my favourite metal guitarists. He always tries to add melody and flavour to the songs with his solos, it's rarely about "shred". He has a great sense for melody, composition and for when to use what techniques.
Andy Larocque is awesome! Totally under appreciated. Also that Gorguts clip was insane!
What about Buckethead?
He, to me, is the most underrated guitarist on Earth.
After almost 300 albums, you'd think he'd get some recognition
+Tyberius64 the last time I checked out, they were 200 albums in 20 years. That means almost one album for month. It sounds crazy
+What The Gosh Darn Buckethead and John 5 (master and apprentice) are probably the most underrated I can think of.
+What The Gosh Darn Buckethead is messiah
+What The Gosh Darn shhhh Lets keep buckethead to his small fan population so he continues to be just as awesome.
+pilotamurorei agree totally
Agreed. He was the backbone of all those songs. He had a super unique sound compared to other glam bands. Mick is a great guitarist.
So true, he's basically the Ringo Starr of Motley Crue.
Gabriel Rocha The only other member that actually has talent is Tommy Lee. He's a solid drummer.
I thought, well this list sucks ass. Then came number 1...
Haha
+Rainbow Rising I agree 100% with you.
+eddieisfiction
LaRocque has his own unique solo style that is very melodic and compliments the rhythm very well, likening him to a Kirk Hammett "wannabe" is an insult.
+eddieisfiction You HAVE to explore King Diamond's music. Then you'll understand.
+Rainbow Rising yeah !!
La Rocque was the right choice for #1
absolutely!
Definitely. It's about time he got some props.
Well respected by the community, but criminally overlooked by the general public: Ron Jarzombek, so called father of tech metal.
+Snelle Fjöll Omg! Thank you, i was just about to comment about Ron Jarzombek! He's so fucking unknown yet amazing and an original player. Love Watchtower.
The fact that Watchtower is forgotten back then is a crime
Muhammed Suiçmez from Necrophagist? I think that guy is extremely underrated.
His solos aren't that interesting apart from Fermented Offal Discharge. His technique is monstrous though.
That band famous along because of their technical ability. People forgot about him because they don't make music anymore.
Looking for this comment before I write it my self. Couldn't agree more.
Is somebody thinking in Doug Aldrich or Jake E Lee :v?
ikr :v
Or Robb Flynn??!!
Mark Rizzo anyone!!??
Or Myles Kennedy, or Mark Tremonti?
+Pastor Casket Jake E Lee's had plenty of spotlight. Plus he's a fucking douchebag.
CHRIS POLAND PLEASE THANKS
David Davidson of Revocation. He's insane. Check him out, errybody. The guys from Sylosis, Skeletonwitch, TBDM are incredible as well.
Over rated guitarists next?
Kirk Hammett?
Slash?
Dave mustane
+Greyson Petrenko BLASPHEMY !
+ofir's channel Agreed! He'd be the king!
Criss Oliva - Savatage ?
The inclusion of Sammy Duet and Justin Broadrick made me grin. They're both incredibly talented and criminally overlooked.
Absolutely
Lucas Mann? Tosin Abasi? Rusty Cooley? What about the kids from polyphia? Idk their names but they are phenomenal. All better than this list.
+xSnappyFish In what world is Abasi underrated?
+ComingUpDilhouse never seen him listed anywhere in any guitarist awards or honourable mentions. So I guess....
+xSnappyFish probably just because he's still new to the scene and his style only appeals to a small group of people.
+Remi Pinel maybe it's because awards are shit. Tobin is certainly underrated in the metal community. He's almost a household name in the metal community.
+xSnappyFish i'd say that Abasi and Cooley aren't really underrated. Tosin's AAL bandmate Javier Reyes and Panzerballett's Jan Zehrfeld are.
Chris Olivia from Savatage is the most underrated metal guitarist of all time R.I.P.
Your damned right about that he should've been #2.
He was easily the best metal guitarist ever.
Well, 1 out of 11 ain't bad. Good choice for #1.
Hell yeah! Andy is one of my favorite guitarists for sure.
Rocky George from Suicidal.
bill steer of carcass
the fact that Wes Borland isnt on here makes this list even more correct, just prove how underrated Wes rlly is
where's nick jonass?
Nobody writes riffs like Bob Vigna, glad to see him here. He is what makes Immolation unique among death metal bands.
Lil Wayne is the most underrated metal guitarist.
2:40 look at the crowd go!.....
ohshit! hahaha...nice catch, better post.
Lol
I'm so glad Luc lemay is in the list! Gorguts is such a good band!
Josh middleton of sylosis? The king of sweep picking
Great to see John Christ on this list! Super underrated! Tommy Victor (also of Danzig as well as Prong) should be on this list as well. He seems to have endless riff ideas.
From old skool Metal, how bout Wolf Hoffman of Accept??
"Classic"
1. Andy Laroque (Kind Diamond, Death)
2. Piggy (Voivod)
3. Tommy Vitterly (Coroner)
4. Luc Lemay (Gorguts)
5. Alex Scholnick (Testament... not really underrated though, he's quite respected in the thrash scene)
"Modern stuff"
1. David DiSanto (Vektor)
2. Ihsahn (Himself, Emperor)
3. Dave Davidson (Revocation)
4. The guys in Hexen
5. Josh Middleton (Sylosis)
Andy Larocque is awesome. Actually for some reason ALL Diamond's guitarists are insanely underrated, including Denner & Shermann from Mercyful Fate.
I'd put TT Baron from Coroner and Jim Matheos from Fate's Warning on here too.
Dave Davidson.
John Christ from Danzig had the coolest solo here, the rest was just fast shit.
No, I would say Andy Larocque is the best on this list.
Props for giving a shout out to Sammy, Scott and of course Andy. All brilliant guitarist and song writers.
Alex Lifeson of Rush ?
+Shittykitty2000 I'd put him in a general list of underrated guitarists ever in rock.
+Shittykitty2000 Alex Lifeson has been highly-rated since the late '70s. He's not underrated.
Where is CRISS OLIVA of Savatage???
If Adam Jones is not on the list I'm gonna cry
+MrHallitralli Done wiping the tears away?
no...;_;

Andreas Kisser
andy laRoque, bill steer, james murphy, v santura, peter huss
Michael Romeo of Symphony X. Man is a god.
Sammy Duet deserves so much more credit, man
Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth)?
Doctor House ...he's a bassist
No, he is a rhythms guitarist and founder of Iced Earth!

What's criminal is this shit starts to sound exactly the same after a while. Rip through a scale dump the whammy bar repeat. Zero imagination.
Luc Lemay. Must I say more?
I agree 100% on the number 1 pick. He’s a phenomenal guitar player
any guitarist from beyond creation...
Nice list, I add:
-Lars Johansson (Candlemass): good at playing epic and monolitic doom riffs, plus his solos are fantastic
-Hank Shermann (Mercyful Fate): master of creating memorable guitar riffs
-Demonaz (Immortal): fantastic black metal guitarist, master in playing fast and cold riffs, listen to "The Sun no longer rises" for example

-Richard Kruspe (Rammstein): It takes skill in creating even simple but effective and catchy industrial metal riffs
Alex Skolnick? Jeff Waters?
Andy LaRocque of course! His solos on Individual Thought Patterns w/ Chuck are sweet as well!
10 underrated
steve clarke, vivian campbell, adam jones, pat o'brian, chris poland, buckethead, john 5, wayne static, gus g, gary holt
10 overrated
jimi hendrix, kirk hammet, wez borland, slash, steve vai, jake e lee, kurt cobain, synister gates, dimebag, evh
+MrOmegaaaX You forgot about Zakk Wylde in overrated category
+Pastor Casket I agree.
Dont forget alex skolnick, he's very underrated
+MrOmegaaaX Wayne Static wasn't a great guitarist and in what world is Pat O'Brian underrated?

JEFF WATERS - ANNIHILATOR
JOSH MIDDLETON - SYLOSIS
They both are great riff writers, awesome lead guitarists and sing really well.

Paul Waggoner and Dustie Waring of BTBAM are pretty underrated. The last 4 minutes of White Walls is a blessing to the ears.
Coroner's guitarist? Anybody?
While a lot of my favorites are on here, I would add:
Denis "Piggy" D'Amour (Voivod [RIP])
Josh Elmore (Cattle Decapitation)
Dan Spitz (ex-Anthrax)
Lee Altus (Heathen, Exodus)
Bobby Gustafson (ex-Overkill)
Dave Linsk (Overkill)

Finally Obscura!
MisterRagingRecon do you know what song that steffen was playing. I really liked the way it sounded.
where is chuck schuldiner?
+The Excellent yeah thats right but he is not massively overrated
Death is one of the biggest names in the Death metal community. He is not underrated.
Not underrated. He is an amazing guitarist though
+Pure Black metal well considering an entire genre was named after them... One would assume so eh?
+Proton2112 yeah sadly
Piggy from Voivod?
The fucking best
Yeah piggy, rip. Also Vetterli from Coroner should be in this list.
John Gallagher?
FYI Andy Laroque is a metal legend.
has anybody covered the intro of loudwire yet?
Awesome to see John Christ in this list, granted he should have been #1, his work on the first 4 Danzig records is fucking mindblowing

karl wills Andy and Luc here on the list are from the 80s/90s though, it's still pretty perplexing
omg thank you so much for commenting this!!! Criss is my hero!
The most underrated guitarist is Jeff Waters, loudwire just proved my point.
Number is correct Andy Larocque is is the most underrated metal Guitarist but the other 10 are fucking Terrible.
thank you for recognizing Andy LaRocque!!!!! creepiest and spookiest solos of all time! Only suggestion to add is David T. Chastain.

Embryoyoyo im semi familiar with most of the guys on this list, And im not saying theyre bad at what they do, but theyre by no means deserving of the title "underrated" they place pretty much where they should, if you want truly underrated guitarists who have amazing talent, check out
Shawn Lane
Ewan Dobson
Jody Fisher
Maddie Rice
Wes Hauch
the list could go on and on, and every guitarist i just mentioned is easily more talented than anyone on this list
*****
there are plenty of underrated musicians out there and you can't name them all and for sure can't even know them all.
You're totally ignorant. Go cover an Obscura song and come back. The person included here was the rhythm player.
I'd put Ben Weinman from The Dillinger Escape Plan in this list
that moment when the most musical and melodic parts of the video about musicians are the intro/outro sections. This is not metal, this is garbage. No wonder why they're underrated.
+JAGGER SWAGGER idk man, I thought most of it was pretty metal
muchzshroom to each his own.
Obscura is most definitely not garbage. Check out the songs anti cosmic overload and akroasis
+Chronosil Most of the bands up there are metal. If you don't know about Vader than you don't know shit about metal.
Thank you for having Joey Eppard on this list... Most underrated of all time
Pretty solid list, loving the amount of death metal greats.
Michel Romeo gets credit, but he is still underrated. He is even better than what people give him credit for.
His solos aren't that interesting, probably why he's underappreciated. I wasn't super impressed by his playing apart from the technique.
Sammy Duet is my favorite guitar player.. Acid Bath is one of the greatest bands of all time.
Emmanuel III 'Trey Azagthoth (Morbid Angel
And although I already know that they are quite popular, I have to mention Bill Steer of Carcass and Michael Amott of Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars.
Just a thought though since I actually believe that Loudwire compiled a pretty good list of underrated metal guitarists for this video.
Kudos to you Loudwire, and Cheers!
How does Mick Mars not get put on any underated lists?
Candlemass guitarist Lars Johansson should be on this damn list. His solos are brilliant.
Robert Vigna is unstoppable.
Daron Malakian from system is highly underrated, he's amazing!!
Andy LaRoque is one of all time the best!!!
Fredrik Thorndendal?
Karl Sanders?
Jeff Waters?
Maybe not the most well known, but someone who's CRIMINALLY underrated is probably Ol Drake, former Evile lead.
Dude is ridiculous on guitar.
Vader and Immolation. OH YES
Clearly underrated for a reason, never heard of 9 of these bands much less the guitarists.
Most of the people commenting don't know the first thing about guitar and Syu is so underrated that you don't even know him
Dave Pritchard (RIP), Wolf Hoffman, Adrian Vandenberg, David Chastain, Tony MacAlpine
Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Spastic Ink, Blotted Science)
