  • Clint sat down with the cast of Project Almanac, which hits stores on Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack today. Since this bit of original sci-fi is about time travel, we thought we’d ask the cast their takes on some classic time-travel paradoxes. Plus, Clint builds a DRONE! goo.gl/4IM0Xp
Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista, and Virginia Gardner give us their takes on classic time-travel conundrums, like the Grandfather Paradox, the Bootstraps Paradox, and whether there are time travelers around us RIGHT NOW…!
While we were in the building awesome machines headspace, we also took part in Drone Day, where we joined folks from Rhubarb Studios to build our very own drones. Now Clint is qualified to get into MIT! (That’s how it works, right?)
Project Almanac is out on DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack right now. Buy it!
Are you in for this new installment in the Alien universe? How do you think it will fit into the continuity? Are you looking forward to Prometheus 2? Or Chappie? What would you LEAST like to see in this upcoming movie?

It blew their minds? I mean... What?? Come on! They just starred in a movie about time travel and had not heard or thought about any of these paradoxes? Study your theme, guys!

Work around to the grandfather Paradox. You would have created an alternate time line and in theory YOU would still exist becouse YOU come from a timeline in which your grandfather lived

Love good time travel concepts (one of the reasons I hated The Flash's inconsistency with time travel) and I know not everyone contemplates that stuff, but COME ON if you are a main character on a movie ABOUT time travel, you should at least have heard of the 'grandparents paradox' before...
Real props to Clint for talking about all these convoluted concepts though!

IMO if you were to go back and kill your grandfather or whatever you would create a parallel universe. You would be from the universe from where your grandfather doesn't get killed but if you went to the "present" the world would be different from the present in your original universe

Ian Ray Yeah, that is a plausible theory but personally I subscribe to the theory that it rights itself at a quantum level.

This dude asked a question I been thinking about for a while like what if there's a person time traveling and we didnt know? That running over grandfather questions though, I would just call for help and take him to the hospital

Yea it’s pretty weird to think if you go back to do that you’d technically by time traveling the first time create the events that lead you to go back to the exact moment you left in the first place after all the events played out in the grandfather paradox..making it a loop no matter what.

  • @ericlindell317

If you went back to the past, all you could really do is fulfill the past -- repeating it exactly. If you did anything else -- it wouldn't be the past.
And I disagree with one of the actors in the discussion who said that the question is interesting. The only thing I find interesting is how little thinking people actually do about these questions before attempting an answer.
The best thing about this video is that -- at least -- it's not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles speculating on time travel. Hooray!

If someone were able to go back in time they wouldn't be able to change anything. If time travel could be real, travelers would probably be more like ghosts than actual people capable of interactions. Maybe all of our ghost stories were just time traveling hooligans...

I hate how actors often have absolutely no interest in the storyline of the production they're in. How can such unimaginative people look so good as the characters?
I asked Edward Furlong and Kristanna Loken what they thought of Sarah Connor Chronicles and they'd never watched it.

Grandfather Paradox answer: No. If you go back in time and kill your grandfather, you keep existing because you came from a different time frame. The future you came from would change, you would not be in it, but yes, I can confirm, you continue to exist.
Bootstrap Paradox: Happens. You can inspire yourself.
Are there people from the future, here, now? Yes.
What more do you want to know?

  • @BugsMcCoy

I'm from the future and you Victoria Gardner actually marry me as unlikely as that sounds... soooo yeah, best not question it and just go along with it. For the space-time continuum may tear etc. and we don't want that now do we?

So, in back to the future, Marty goes back and in the process plays johny be good and influences the actual writer of the song. But where the fuck did the song originate from. Not marty, because he heard it from the original artist, but not the original artist, because he was influenced by marty, so where the fuck did the song cone from?

  • @pffft5679
    @pffft5679 9 років тому

3:09 if you told your past self to stop working on tine travel, and he fucking listened, then you wouldn't be able to time travel back and tell him to stop, (because he didn't make time travel yet) and therefor the problem wouldn't exist in the first place!!!!!!!!! but since that was in the past, and you can't change anything, then you'd be stuck in an endless loop from the first place, since you time traveled anyway.

These actors clearly have very little knowledge of let alone love for science fiction. I reviewed Project Almanac and apart from being laughably dumb this movie is just offensive in the way that it whorishly forces product placement down your throat, SO MUCH SO that the advertising is part of the storyline.
Also the shot at the end of the movie where he's at the birthday party and you see his reflection in the mirror is one of the most flawed pieces of cinema I've ever seen in my life. Something so simple was made in a complex manner for no reason and is out of place in the movie. Grr. This movie is so bad.
On several occasions the movie forgets that it's found footage.
Look at my channel for my review, I don't want to link it for fear of seeming self-advertising but jeez this movie pisses me off.
