    EPISODE 29 OF OUR VAN LIFE SERIES "HELLO MEXICO"
    ►In collaboration with Minimal Millennials
    ► / minimalmillen. .
    After 6 weeks we've finally made it to the beach and BOY DOES IT FEEL GOOD!! We typically search for a great spot to stealth camp and dreamed that we would be able to sleep 😴 the night's away in Mexico right on the beach. POOF! Wish granted. This camp spot had a million dollar view without the price tag... only snag... we got our sprinter van stuck in the sand. Once that's sorted, we take you along our shopping spree as we hunt to restock our pantry and fridge with fruits, veggies and rice.
    Who are we?
    We're Eamon and Bec, a Toronto-based couple who live full-time in our self converted Sprinter Van!! SUBSCRIBE for wanderlust travel, behind the scenes of what it's really like to live in a van, and videos all about the yummy vegan food we make + eat!
    We're uploading DAILY VIDEOS with the Minimal Millennials for the next month.
    Our goal here is to inspire you to chase after your own dreams however big (or small... tiny homes anyone?) they may be! We hope to create a community of like-minded, positive individuals who will grow to love and support one another on their own journeys.

    Hi everyone!! We've just connected to WiFi and I'm doing my best to respond to some comments while we can. I see heaps of you are discussing our choice to collect a few plastic bags while doing our errands and I thought I would let you know that we do not buy garbage bags. Instead, if/when we need to collect waste from our van we will use bags from our shops. No one is perfect but we are happy with our decision to limit our garbage bag/plastic usage. ❤️✌🏽 Peace and love.

    Two things...first let some air out of your tires. And second, DON"T spin your tires...take it slow. Going fast just dug you deeper. But all good :)

      Thats really simple, if you don't have some sort of portable air compressor or a nearby gas station, don't drive in loose sand?

    Make it regularly. Non nano zinc oxide and coconut oil is all i use. Im super whitr super prone to burning and it works best on me cos it blocks uva and uvb. However i left it for a montb and then used it again and i burned. So it has about a week shelf life but i mix it as needed cos it takes all of 2 seconds and even im not that lazy.
    Im actually going to start selling it this summer on my etsy page of u wna check it out. Its a new shop do my pictures are shit(but the products r still good lol) but im working on it. As of r n i sell a deodorant and a hair oil. Sunscreen and more all natural products to come

    When driving in sand never spin your wheels as this will just dig deeper , slowly drive out after digging away most of the sand in front of tyres

    In my opinion there's no natural sunscreen that will protect you from that kind of sun. I've done some experimenting but nothing was satisfactory. And then I went on a yachting trip and saw what all the cool rich yachting people were doing: they're wearing surfer shirts!!! Seriously, that changed my life. I wear a surfer shirt and a hat. Still need some sunblock to protect exposed parts but much much less than before. Opinions as to the stylishness of my ensemble differ (I have been told I look like a dork). But hey I don't care. I'm protecting my skin from the carcinogenic sun, I'm limiting my exposure to the nasty chemicals from the sunblock and I'm keeping waste to a miniumum, as I've had the shirt for years.

    What was the makeup of dinner? Thanks for showing what's for dinner. Not all beaches are for driving on. If you had a compressor, you would take a little air out of your tires. Then when you get on a solid surface reinflaite your tires to the recommended pounds per inch. Learned this off of Roll With It Bus!! Scott & KJ are pulling a jeep behind their bus and were recently someplace that had a driveable beach. The was so hard that it didn't get displaced. FYI

    I use coconut oil that I mixed in some lavender, but that is for casual sun exposure. I use the real stuff when on vacation in Hawaii cuz I do not want a sunburn to ruin my time. I also just have long sleeved cover shirts and wide brim hat so I dont have to keep applying sunscreen. But I have a darker complexion and use a very little bit once I get a base tan going on anyways. Sorry I couldnt help you any better than that. Have fun kids and cover that burn up for a few days to let it heal. PS I live in Alaska so tanning is minimal in regular life, LOL

I am in Hispanic, or should I say Ecuadorian, and I know the dangers of traveling through places like Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador. How do you manage and not getting robbed, killed, raped, extorted. I'm talking about dealing with gangs and cartels. SPF60 minimum is recommended for Mexico, the sun is hot down south, especially for us Canadians...aka pasty whites

  • @DailyRealness
    @DailyRealness 6 років тому

    2:46 Kinda surprised a Canadian would do that. Like snow the more you spin your tires the more you dig yourself in. You want to ease yourself out, if you slip you let off immediately reverse the transmission and rock in the opposite direction and keep doing it. But never ever spin in any circumstances, it will never get you out. 6:57 Check out EWG.org's skin deep. They rate many sunscreens and cosmetics for toxicity. Aubrey and badger is good. I've used badger, works excellent, even makes your skin better but it is oily and hard to wash off, lots of soap, so experiment around.

  • @BLACK05GO1
    @BLACK05GO1 6 років тому

    Also, you can keep a couple 1"x 6" boards about 4 ft long. You dig out the front part of your rear tires and put the 1"x6"x 4 ft boards in front of the rear tires. This usually works if you didn't completely bury the car/truck. Just a thought.

    I hate using sunscreen as well because I don't like using anything chemical on my body, but I live in Rio de Janeiro and I have little melanin, so I can't run from it. So I've researched before about natural homemade sunscreens recipes and what I found is that it isn't very safe. Unfortunately I think the best is to find a brand that you like and buy from them, cause when we make them at home we can't be sure of the factor etc etc. Try researching a bit about the safety of it before you try and do your own recipe! (I'd love to be proved wrong though!!)

    For future reference white vinegar on a soft towel or rag on a sunburn is the cure I use and I’m a pasty ginger. It’s cheap and it’s such an amazing feeling when you’re burned. Aloe is nice but honestly the vinegar will draw the heat out.

    You walked around all day in the Mexican sun without your shirt on. What are the chances you might get overexposed? Never mind.

    Speaking of the MM, where were they while you were stuck at the beach? Vinegar takes the sting out of a sunburn FYI.

    sunscreen by la roche posay is really good. I don't know if its up to your standards but I personally have very sensitive skin and never had an issue with it which is why I believe it to be pretty good. Its more on the expensive side but definitely worth it!

    You have a diesel, they are fuel stations, not gas stations.
    I use pure Shea butter for tanning in the sun. The main thing is know your limits, and learn to feel them. But I time myself in the sun when tanning according to the UV until I get a dark tan.

    I know that The Honest Company has a pretty good zinc sunscreen Most zinc sunscreens in general though are a pretty safe bet.

    What you needed that night was the homeopathic remedy called Cantharis for burns and scalds! A natural post burn remedy rather than a natural sun block ;)

    My mom used to mix Maizena with water or milk for sunburns
    And remember was better than aloe vera since this is preventive and maizena to cure the burns. Correct me please if im wrong

    I used peanut butter on my face & it seemed to work quite well. No burns on the areas applied. Get a bit tired of the aroma - but very good for the skin I believe

    Great one guys, if you have a pump onboard it helps to blow the tyre down a bar it helps with traction in the sand, no spinning slowly does it nicely 😊

    here is an idea i have seen on another show ids that you can take a ratchet strap and a small 2 to 3 foot 2x4 for each rear tire and you should be able to get out of mud sand and snow just a helpful tip ! put the strap through holes in the wheels.
