@@Cyberbottank318 as well as this channel, I'd also recommend Joshua Bardwell's channel for troubleshooting and deep dives into the technical side of FPV. Both of these are great channels.
Fpv is what got me interested in rc planes in the first place . It’s video games and real life . Now with all the ai and augmented reality tech surging it would be interesting to see fpv dog fighting and you see everything virtually but at your local park . Racing would be possible too
i have been wanting to add a video stream from my craft to a tv screen or googles for ever and wasnt looking up the right terms. i would never have thought to call everything about video coming from your craft to be called fpv. i thought fpv was a style of view for controlling those super fast drones. NOW I KNOW the lingo and now know what to look for THANK YOU!!!!!

very helpful .. to me the head tracking section never going into it before so that is encouraging me to put it on the list for hopefully future projects .. talking about cave man , me too from the pre historic age i guess 😁 i recall when i was attaching a JVC video cam on a big formula one old rc and then keep it recording and watch the chasing of cats movie 😂😂 thanks steve for bringing me back to those times 👍🏻
Thnks Steve for the very interesting video , I thought I know all I needed to know about RC until I watched this video, giving a good insight into the RC camera world. 👍😉
nice to know how thing's look easy with set up's , me i cant even do what you asked at the end BUT. my friends say it's easy when you know how. ya ya ya, nice to see you again Steve.
Hello Captain Drone, What setup would you recommend me as a beginner who wants to try fpv flying with a small UMX (conscendo or WACO) plane with a 300mah 3s battery. Would you then also recommend using a seperate battery for the camera (considering the weight)? And what goggles would you go for? I don't mind buying from a second hand marketplace.
It would be difficult to mount such an FPV system on those tiny lightweight planes. The video output would be weak due to having to use a tiny battery, so the signal would breakup quickly.
Love the video Steve. I would love to hook up an fpv. But especially fpv w/head tracker. A great channel to check out the cutting edge of this is... motionsic RC and FPV. They have some insane setups.
Hello! This video has been the most helpful for me so far, but Ikind of dont need the FPV Googles and would like to use the FPV Video on a monior or a GCS to see where the Plane is when its out of LOS. Is there something for this Use Case?
Question for Capton Drone, Steve i'm wondering if a guy were to use a little TRX-4M battery (2S 7.4V-750mAh) LiPo with the HDZero Freestyle V2 Kit what would be your best guess as to how long that battery would run that camera system? P.S. the VTX says it uses an input of 7V~25V so once the voltage got below 7V I wonder if that would hurt anything? Thank you for your time John C
Nope. The reason FPV exists as it does with FOV Goggles is because there needs to be almost zero delay in video signal. A phone or tablet would have much too much video delay.
I'm looking to buy the walksnail HD nano kit plus goggles but I can't find a very dumbed down install video for the VTX and camera. I've seen long videos of people opening up their VTX, others don't, others change a wire or something... All that confuses me. When I say install, I don't mean putting it in an RC vehicle... I mean, what plugs into what in it's simplest form. Preferably without opening the VTX. I've never owned digital fpv stuff and the install videos always look overly complicated. Being that a cheap camera/VTX starts at over $100, it's not something that I want to screw up.
I’ve been interested in FPV drone building and flying long enough now to be thoroughly confused. I want to build my own, that is the whole reason for getting into this as a hobby. But I’m wondering if I have the DJI goggles and Radiomaster TX16S Mll MAX transmitter. Am I limited as to what I can build? I like the digital idea. Thanks in advance to anybody that can answer this question. Also, is there anybody in Canada that sells this stuff because the freight will just absolutely blew the cost through the roof, especially if you have to buy one or two pieces at a time.
Building your own FPV Drone is a long lost art. I did it when I first began in the hobby, but it no longer makes sense to do so because buying a well tuned modern drone is so much easy & you get to keep your hair. DJI Goggles just means you will be using a DJI Video Transmitter. You have to get the correct transmitter for the version of DJI Goggles you have. A radiomaster TX16 can connect to either an ELRS receiver or (depending if you get the 4-in-1 TX16S) a host of other receivers.... which are all separate from your VIDEO transmitter/receiver. Check out GREAT HOBBIES for Canadian Stores. Also AMAZON sells plenty of items if you know what you are looking for.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yeah i definitely want digital....i want to send my crawlers into the woods for recon...lol...or down the road about a mile and knock on neighbors door...like is there a good, better, best, brand? I know u showed a few for what u had there, thinking the dji brand..just bite the bullet and get that one...u can add multiple cameras like receivers to a remote..on the goggles right?? Any brand??
@@joshengland5251 The video signal is seperate from the remote you use to control the car. What I would do, is go with the DJI Goggles version 1 or 2, then go on the RUNCAM website and get the WASP LINK (camera, antenna, VTX). Then learn how to bind everything together so your goggles have video. Then buy whatever car you wish of good quality and change the receiver in it to ELRS and get the RADIOMASTER MT12. With such a setup, you can drive a mile away as long as there is not tons of signal degradation caused by hills, trees, houses, cars etc. The bottom line is you really need to do your research and more importantly, find someone locally that can help you along.

Don’t people build their own R/C Planes out of balsa wood, CA glue and monokote anymore? Seems everything is styrofoam based ATF/RTF models…. I guess model planes and bean bags are the only places to recycle (hide) old styrofoam.
Women still must be like .. HOW!?!? That orange battery you see? It powers EVERYTHING on that drone, truck, plane etc. then your camera works to send a signal to your goggles. All powered by that battery running cam & controls on truck drone etc… So it’s all WIRELESS. Searches for connection and let the product do the talking!

Steve, great video and information. Who makes the yellow T-28 Trojan you had in your video? Not sure if it was FMS. Thanks.
FMS makes it for FAIR RC. I actually have a review of it coming up later this week. Excellent little flyer.

750 mah 2S that is just running the HDZERO Camera transmitter would probably give you 20 to 30 min

Probably but the problem would be the weight of the camera & battery on a tiny plane

DJI has the best beginner level digital FPV kits

Drones are more like a dragonfly than a bird. Either way you get to experience flight in a way not possible with any other aircraft.

Balsa planes are still popular but expensive. Foam is king as planes are simple to repair and look amazing for the price compared to balsa.

Oh really? Well that’s not good.
Pity we dont have half the stuff you have in the States and Europe. And importing costs a ton at customs.
