Good review. Just got mine today with 11x14 standard plates(III). Minor setup on waist and cumber bun. I am 5'11" and 320. Fits better than I expected.
I like how this looks similar to the marines interceptor vest. Of course its a bit more low profile but its so hard to find vests that provide alot of coverage everyone seems to want slick low profile. The industry seems to forget about the people that want more coverage.
The testudo takes bigger plates 11x14 if you want more coverage
It looks like they widened the attachment of the shoulder straps in the front. Common complaint before was that there wasn't a lot of neck room and it would rub. Good on them.
Seems like a great company, and they seem to care about quality. I ordered a plate carrier and some hard and soft plates. They're having some kind of anniversary sale. Couple of month wait, but that's how they do it, it all sounds good.
Yeah right now you can pick up a similar package that I bought for $199...good deals right now for sure👍

@@nc_rider_7046 did you order it straight from them? The hardest thing I had after getting it was fixing plates. It takes any plates 10x12 or 11x14 but finding decent plates that will get here quick is the biggest issue. AR500 is like 5-7 weeks out, some even longer on their brand plates. You can get lucky sometimes and find some decent plates somewhere else in stock.
@@nc_rider_7046 anyways the Testudo Gen 2 is awesome. I love it. I run it with their holster along with their kangaroo rifle magazine Pouch which gives me the option to mount their pistol mag pouch in front on the outside of the kangaroo pouch. All in all it’s a solid plate carrier and you will love it!

Good stuff! I got me the AR500 Veritas and like it a lot.
How has it held up? My concern is the the stitching that joins the straps to the rear it looks like a weak vulnerable spot for the carrier.

If you haven't made a purchase yet, this carrier will work well for you. Like you, I'm a bigger guy ex bodybuilder very broad shoulders and my stomach isn't way out there but yeah I got one. I'm 6'1- 270 and the testudo fits good, just had to open the cord on the cummerbund. This is a quality carrier.

Yes, but the 10x12 plate size, although it fits you, can be upgraded to a 11x14 for an additional $50. I say this because I am 6'2" and 250lbs. The 10x12 is good but you almost hit the 11x14 group which starts at 6'4". You don't want the plate on your belly when kneeling or bending, crawling, etc. Measure between your nipples, the 11 inches are across and the 14 inches are downward. 11x14 fits in this Testudo and as far as the vest is the best you can find and the price is amazing. Is quality. Stick to steel plates, longer shelf life and better protection. Don't worry about trauma pads, the vest is so cushioned and good that there is no need.

Yes, but you may want to look into their VERITAS, same company. They are really good. The reason is because if you are not tall enough it can sink into your belly when you bend or kneel or crawl, like an Japanese Samurai honor suicide, ha! This is meant for vital organs and although one wants to protect the entire body and cover all flesh, it would take away from mobility which is crucial to defend and fight back.

@@factsoverfeelings5833 you will like it. I had concerns about my plate size (10x12 or 11x14) because I am 6'2". Hence, I emailed them and they responded that a 9x9 plate on their Freeman carrier was for wearers 4'5"-5'3".
And, wearers between 5'4"-6'3", the plates should be 10x12, and any of their plate carriers, Veritas, Testudo, Invictus, Guardian, Valkyrie, will fit any adult male who wears t-shirts from Med-XXL. The Testudo also fits the 11x14 and males wearing t-shirts from Medium-XXXL.
I got the Testudo Gen 2 and is the best out there, you have many choices to add perks to it and it fits both 10x12 and 11x14 plates.

Do you need trauma pads or is the backing on this good enough.
Trauma pads are nice. But the plates alone will save a life.
The Trauma pads just reduce the energy transfer to the user. There are very nice to have though.

im a "thinner" guy but im 6'2'' ~ 195 so this fit me pretty well. however you will have to tighten things up a bit to make it snug. however with it being for a larger guy the bigger rig is nice being as tall as i am.

I'm a 6'2 320lb guy, more on the muscular side, i would like it to be bigger but it was way better than my buddys veritas i tried, which was quite small on me

Buyer beware! AR 500 customer service is terrible. All sales are basically final! So if your not a 100% sure u want this plate carrier I would not recommend it for u.

Your complete trash ,I have dealt with this company since they opened in 2012 they have come leaps and bounds as far as quality and price.a plate saved My life shit for brains.🧠 If you had facts I could understand this is a great company if u are patient in took a little over a week to get my kit.
