- The Rally spec turbocharger we build specifically for a rally team locally, uses bespoke internal parts which make this a more reliable setup than any other OEM brand name turbo. This specific turbo suffered a dust out and we decided to show you the compressor and discuss some basics of a dust out and how to recognize it. Enjoy.
So happy to see you guys back! We need more videos!

Hi Chris! Please do a review of the new Borg Warner s258sx-r turbine.
Will do as soon as stock is available to us.
Good learning experience.
Glad to provide some enjoyable content
Must have been a wild ride through the desert... what do the piston rings look like, if mear dust through an air filter wears out rings on a daily?
Engine is toast thats for sure.
hey Chris, happy to see you back! could you recomend me a turbo for my 2.3 vr5 engine? boost pressure 28-32psi, hp goal 650 crank, currently looking at the g30 900 .83.. looking for quick response and good usable power.
Hey - thanks for the comment. The EFR8370 is the turbo of choice for this setup - stay away from the G-series range, it is overrated, and unreliable in power delivery etc. The Gamma-TI turbine on the EFR is unmatched with spool, overall weight, and reliability. Its a much better quality product and will offer you ALOT more features than the Garrett will.
Is this Rally turbo using with turbo air restrictor ?
@@back14085 no not in this class of racing
Wow no water cooling used, only oil on a water cooled housing? I thought that was a no-no.
Its a custom built turbo, which has the facility for H2o cooling, BUT not necessary if you aren't able to use it. Obviously the bearing system will last longer if you did cool it, but this is a very competitive class of racing with short heats and lots of spares. Downtime costs valuable time.
If air cleaner is on it, that would not happen.
This class of racing will destroy a run of the mill air cleaner - once the cleaner is full, it will destroy the filtration media and suck it though the wire re-enforcing. The air filter was there. The other thing than can cause this is ingestion of muddy water - which no filter will protect you from.
HI FROM TUSCANY ITALY. I have a Chevrolet Camaro 2.0 L turbo with a TD04L6-04H twin scroll. I want upgrade air compressor with a more big Avional rotor. Advices?
Hello Italy - welcome! Please shoot an email to info@turbodirect.co.za for more info. Ill ask Chris to attend to your email directly.
And wouldn't machining .1mm off the intake housing end up with less performance, cause of increased clearances, than a new housing?
Can't believe you said that both wheels were fine, and yet you are replacing them anyway 😢 mosewell just get a new turbo altogether, probably just as cheap lol
Both wheels were fine, however re-using second hand parts in a repair is not how we repair a turbocharger at Turbodirect S.A - there are many who do, but not in this house.
