as a kid in the 1970's there was a dealership that sold these cars about 2 miles away from my house, it was cool driving by and seeing the dozens of brightly-colored cheese wedges in front of the showroom :) they were actually quite popular in my area of the city because most of the streets had a 30mph limit, in my neighborhood about 8 of them were daily drivers. even though they were pretty basic cars, all of the people who owned them really liked them.

so you're telling me that a working condition Citicar(Commuta-car) would be street legal in Massachusetts without a license or registration because it only goes a top speed of 23mph.

I lived in Sebring Florida and worked at the airport where these were made, I had one that I drove around the airport, but the batteries were tired and so never far and never fast.
for the 1980s rather innovative, but where I live now would be impractical ( were they ever?) because there is a....hill

Hey. Nice. Looking to get one myself. Can one put a faster/bigger HP motor in it. Get maybe 65mph?

Nobody even uses their passenger seat because nobody carpools because everyone has their own and live to far apart.
A single vehicle for everyone, best choice is an Ebike.
But I love this little car, reminds me of the hippies rejection the 20 foot land yacht cars for the Beetle.

Live so humbly nobody would want to steal your stuff
Thats why instead of ne buying a 5,000 pound F150 (pride of America and definition of sin) I bought a bike
Whos gonna steel a $100 bike over a $50,000 truck, nobody.
