Anyone doing these in 2021? Thank you so much Marty, I also used to think playing guitar was magic. I still think it is in a way, but you're a wonderful teacher. I'm loving learning these chords and I think that soon I'll be able to play Jane Says for my dad. Only two chords (switching back from A to G is killing me) but I know he'll be psyched over it.

Hi Marty, i'm 75 years young and now a little bit housebound from illness, had a go at playing guitar when young with a few teachers',and now with time on my hands having another go at guitar playing.I find your lessons excellent.I also was subject to the Mary had a little lamb songs from teachers so find your method simple and effective and with chords to popular songs which makes you feel like you achieve something every time you practice. Thanks so much for your EXCELLENT channel, you are helping a lot of young people (and not so young) learn to play music Thanks Marty and all the best from Australia

      3) press down as hard as you can

Played bass for 12 years, stuck with it and never moved to guitar because I didnt think that anything would transfer and I'd be starting from the beginning again. Surprised at how quickly things are coming along especially with Marty's help. One of my biggest fears was always the chords and having the dexterity in my fingers to be able to jump between them. But Marty simple explaining things, and his idea of the anchor points have taken that all away. Youre an amazing teacher and one hell of a dude for putting this online for anyone to access for free. 10/10 human, need more of you in this world. Rock on Marty.

These videos have made learning chords the most enjoyable so far. I’ve played for years but mostly punk power chords. I’ve dabbled trying to learn songs with tabs. After watching a few of these and going back to the tabs it just clicked. Looking at the tab I recognized what chord it was and noticed they actually say what the chord is at the top of tab. Lol. These are just perfect. I can’t express that enough. Thank you infinity.

Here in 2021 on lesson 5, which I took 2X. I'm 66, learning for the second time in my life. But First time was between 17-18 years old, chords with music books with a private guitar teacher. I was a voice student at HS of Music and Art in Manhattan (they needed boys for the chorus so they took me ;-), but could not play any instruments, so I really was motivated to learn and was doing pretty well! But then, I just stopped completely when I went away to college. Didn't take the guitar with me! I don't know what I was thinking. Thanks so much! I'm progressing. This is a wonderful return!

I bought an acoustic the other day, and I really appreciate what you said in a previous video about if the chords sound muddy to not get discouraged and to just keep working at it, I've got chubby sausage fingers so whenever a third finger gets involved it starts to sound bad, but every now and then I can get them to play nicely.

Marty, I started watching your videos about 1 1/2 years ago trying to learn some of my favorite songs, and just now decided to watch your beginner lessons, what a huge difference it would have made if I would have decided to start here instead . I guess I was too impatient to start at the beginning. You are truly a gifted teacher and a talented musician, thank you so much ! And yes, you make it look like magic as well !

greetings again Marty! just came from lesson 4! you are teaching me so much!! i'm on day 3 and you already helped me learn 7 chords! that is insane! i may need some help memorizing them by mind but i write down and take down notes on paper, so i don't forget. 😁
thank you so much for teaching me (us, really) and i'm very sorry while you were growing up, you had barely no one to help you learn the songs you wanted to know. but look where you are now!! you're amazing, just wanted you let you know that.
thank you so much, you're making my dream possible. i don't know what i would do without you, i'm so glad i found your amazing, helpful, motivating, and supportive channel!
thank you so much again, Marty!
love you and happy holidays! x

Massive thank you for these lessons, I've been picking uo a guitar since I was younger and always just learning how to play a song then giving it up when I got bored, 3 days into a serious state of wanting to actually learn the guitar and these lessons are unreal at how helpful they are. Fingers are numb but I can't wait to continue with these lessons

Picking up guitar since my first lesson since I was 12 and I am so lucky to have found your videos. Thank you so much Marty !! You make it a joy to learn. Every note I hear myself play I can pin point what song it comes from. I love it. Thank you!

    Thanks Marty..
I'm "self taught" because there was no UA-cam when i started, no buddies that played and no lessons.. Not even books. Im 49 now lol, and taught myself all the chords but had no idea what they were called. It's true. I started with your tuning video and made it to here and i gotta tell ya, i feel like such a tool 🔧 now. Long story short, you've opened a couple doors for me that were closed for years. I gave you a sub and i look forward to spending a few minutes with your videos every morning.
What I'm trying to say is thanks!!

    • @-addie-6302
      @-addie-6302 5 років тому +4

Either the guitar is flat on your lap, or you're unnecessarily twisting your wrist. When you play, even practicing, play it like you really would cause it hurts a lot less. Also your fingers should be able to reach without alot of twisting. Unless you have short fingers-

I'd like to thank you for taking the time to go through teaching these baby steps into learning. I've been playing for 3 weeks and absolutely stoked at what I've learned so far. I think my first snag has been looking up the tabs to songs I'm not ready for. I've been playing drums for coming up on 30 years and its truly magical to finally be able to communicate to guitar players I jam with what I'm hearing in my head. Haha! Keep up the good work, sir. :)

By far the best teaching on how to play the guitar that I’ve seen on UA-cam you are awesome. Your attitude is great. You’re funny engaging and just a good guy. Thank you for sharing the stuff and not making it all about the Patreon. I can tell that you really want to teach people that’s awesome. I think it should be done like the way you’re doing it keep it up and thank you. I’m so excited. These are all the cords and stuff. I’ve been wanting to learn and I’m learning them now. I just gotta remember the name lol but I remember the patterns.

A few years ago I learned a song called "The Past Recedes" by John Frusciante and little did I know that would make me learn almost every chord you have covered in the past 6 videos lol. A great song too, glad I learned that when I did. Now I just have to name all the shapes I know.

It happened something amazing with this video and it is that when i was learning the A minor chord i recognized it as the starting chord of a song that i like. Very good stuff Marty! Just bought my first guitar about a month and a half ago. A Washburn C-10 electric/acoustic. Been watching these videos ever since! Moving right along with the chords and working with my progressions every time I pick my guitar up. You're an excellent teacher! I bet an in person session is just a fun experience! I am working into country acoustics. At least that is my goal. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos for beginners like myself and many others start the journey and make their way to becoming great musicians!
