Having been critical of the title in my earlier comment, having watched the walkthrough, it is the best I 've seen for 'Escape' so far. No headless running around, well practiced, nice steady pace and commentary. You have a new subscriber.
There's a cutter beneath the debris along a wall in the corridor where the little alien creatures attacked the player. Also, I noticed that a wall was marked with the word "Guns" in another room. I think it's the one Eva was in, where she opened that locked screen door for the player. I dunno if that means anything or not.
Funny you should mention that! I just posted a UA-cam short about the other cutter. It's easier to get since the lock is Novice. The "guns" sign is in front of a vending machine that I missed. For 300 credits, you can get a pistol (in case you missed the earlier pistol). I didn't see that one the first time through, but might make a 'short' for that one too.
There were certainly more complex POIs, but they didn't have NPCs attached with this level of complexity with the exception of the constellation characters (required for some content). Still, very enjoyable! edit: removed contradictory text about NPCs

I made the mistake of showing up with 10 ships in my inventory. When I finally got to the ship it wouldn't let me sit in the seat to leave on the ship. I had to go into my inventory and choose the galactic map and choose some place to go to. After the load screen I was piloting my old ship. So I didn't get a chance to keep the ship, and it says that I have not completed the DLC so I will somehow have to figure out a console command to make the mission Mark completed because I can't go back to it even though it says I have to complete the mission. Moral of that story is do not show up with 10 ships to this DLC / expansion.
I'm sure I had to restore a save for this reason. I tried to mention that in the video, but might not have emphasized it enough. I hope you find a way to advance the quest. If you're on PC, I know there's a console method for that. Details escape me, but I had to do that with Barrett's quest once.
Reading through the comments makes me feel like I'm the only idiot to ruin my play-through. My game ended at about the 34-minute mark of your video when I got to that room I was able to use a key and walk out and it transported me back to my ship.
A quirk is that if you jump down the fan shaft before turning off the big fan and gravity, even if you use Phase Time and essentially stop the fan blades from turning as you fall, the game will automatically kill you. It kinda makes sense why, but that is a miss on Bethesda's part. It may ruin, for no reason one can predict ahead of time, a No Death Run playthrough.
Good to know, thanks! Had to travel for work so I've not gotten to fully test all the Starborn powers in the scenario. I wonder if this is identical to the Ryujin fan.
Definitely fun and I'm looking forward to taking more character (saves) through it. Having a different background (factions) and choosing to share that with Ava and Red (or just one?) can lead to different outcomes.
My gut reaction was "ikr!?!?!". I don't have a PS5, but family do. Would love it if they could get in too (even though it's single player). Just a fun shared experience.
I really enjoy these contents, but honestly I'm not a fan of micro transactions. They should rather create bundles and DLCs and sell them in the official shop. As it stands, I won't be getting these...
No like, no buy. I'd say, "Bethesda gonna Bethesda" but have you seen the Minecraft store? There's an entire division of MBAs hanging out at MSFT dreaming up ways to sell us stuff.
I did this earlier and everything was the same except the Golden number for me was 3 and I got a different ship I also killed both of them and got the money as well,( I just ng+ and was broke 😂)
I finally decided to play this and while it is good content I felt it seemed a little fast. I also didn't care for the math involved but it was still good to use my brain for a game. I also got a different ship that the one in this video. it has Deimos, Nova Galactic, and a few Hopetech parts. Overall the ship I got seems to be higher in value with more cargo.
A subscriber said they had seen five different ships, which is nice. I suspect they are either all Class A (so anyone can fly them), but it would nice if they bumped it up based on your Skill. Probably too much to expect so I'll just be happy with five options and maybe go back and see if I can roll a new one. :)
oh no! What was the spoiler-ey part? I did try to warn people in the video that it's essentially nothing but a spoiler, but UA-cam is a bit of a pit-of-spoiler IMO.
hi Kineer, i guess you're playing this quest over again like a maniac, since i don't see any new video... I've tested this and noticed a couple of things ; at the beginning the lady responsible (forgot her name, Genevieve?) can be seen sitted next to the recruiter over on the left, you can talk to her, (maybe kill her, i haven't tried yet). Unfortunately, she is missing after finishing the quest (bummer). Second thing, in the math room, that i have proudly passed because i've watched your video (otherwise, it would have taken a week or so) you can set the alarm yourself and go into the alternate room with the corpses, which is useless, because you're stuck and the money count on the wall shrinks to zero. And at last, if you mess up the persuasion at the end, the girl just kills the guy in cold blood. But i'm pretty sure you already know that. Cheers from France.
Hey Matt. I had a work event over the weekend (presentation at a small conference). With travel and preparation for my talk, I barely had time to get this one published. It was either Escape or something on the Rev-8 (and everyone was doing videos on that). I am working on other videos (not Escape). That said, you are right. I have replayed this a few ways making sure everyone else dies, maxing out the money, etc. Nothing that I feel I should make more videos about. Everyone else has great ideas and share them in the comments too. Cheers!
Google has always been helpful in understanding terms. The AI augmentation is interesting as well. If we think about what words mean, it becomes easier. Almost everything downloadable is DLC. Some can be free, some paid. You can use a prompt like "what is a video game DLC" (or mod). Hope you can work through this. There's an interesting distinction between sources, i.e. is it made by the studio, players or fans. It's worth keeping in mind this type of information is based on LLMs trained on "the Internet." If you merely want to argue over terminology, you can try arguing with "the Internet." I don't imagine that's going to go far. Thanks for watching. Example: "Downloadable content (DLC) is additional content that gamers can purchase and download for video games after they are initially released. DLC can include new levels, characters, weapons, skins, cosmetic items, season passes, expansion packs, and bonus content. It can range from simple cosmetics to story-driven expansions that add a significant amount of new content to a game. DLC can help keep games fresh and challenging, and extend their lifespan. It also provides more ways for game developers and publishers to monetize their games. For example, God of War: Ragnarok released a free expansion called Valhalla in 2023, but most DLC is not free. Significant expansions, such as the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk: 2077, can come with a significant price tag. The term "downloadable content" started being used in the early 2000s for small additions to PC games. Microsoft's Xbox Live service helped to popularize the concept for console gaming in 2002."
I believe it does. I did one complete run on PC first without anything to get the achievements. On PC, there are also ways to override the achievement issue, but I just played vanilla once.
Someone else was arguing some esoteric issue around what is or isn't DLC. I googled "what is video game DLC" and the answer was pretty helpful. Interesting AI augmentation on it as well. It doesn't mention involvement by Bethesda as relevant.
On PC it's "F", controller is left bumper/top. It doesn't work until you get to the second room and get a spacesuit though. In the first room you just fumble around in the dark. :)
I went in blind on this quest last night. I missed the false panel, vent key, gun, and axe in the first room! I missed the arrow code in the kitchen in room 2. I figured out the numeric code without placing the cone sculpture. I just followed the light. The golden number math hurt my head. I just didn't get it. I used a battery to override three number puzzles. I wish I did a hard save at the start. I really want to try again.
@kineer I had a lower character ready to go. I got to the end, kept both other players alive. I got a very different looking spaceship as a reward. Very freighter like.
After the video, I went back in (Mathis followed me), boosted back up and looted then entire place. I was looking for Slate 4 (didn't find). I eventually found Ava and Red again just hanging out in the next room. They wouldn't come with me or do anything other than repeat a line of dialog. It felt like the bounties you capture after Tracker's Alliance dropped. You get paid and they just sit on the ground and nothing happens.
I bet all these DLCs would be fun to play if they actually work when purchased and didn't crash my game when I try to play... or can't even play the game cuz I had to start over cuz they game wouldn't play
I still recommend trying the BGS discord for help. The game runs very well for a lot of people, but clearly others are having problems. Tech stacks have so much variability that isolating problems can take some time. I'm playing on PC/Xbox and have had more problems on Xbox, but nothing game ending (yet?).
@kineer I still play cuz I'm enjoying the game... just wish they could get the bugs sorted out b4 going public considering they made the game for PC n xbox
The number puzzle your showing says 41, but mine starts out with 34 and no way to make it a 1. I realize I can just power it up, but I wonder if it is a bug or did I miss something
I really don't know if the puzzles cycle so it's possible. I've only run it twice and I thought it was the same each time. You can also break the Fuse Key out of the statue on the center pedestal, get a Fuse for the box Red is working near, and skip the entire math game. I have a UA-cam short scheduled for 2PM today if you can't find it.
@@kineer Yeah, I know the fuse way as well, I'm just wondering if it affects the total amount of credits you can win. Not that it matters, since I chose to let the other 2 escape. I found an alternate route out and never got any credits.
I generally view "didn't have to pay a Ship Technician for it" as free. Also works for "stolen from pirates, Ecliptic, Spacers on a moon" (also free in my book). Spending (virtual) credits at a vendor, not FREE. Mantis ship, free. Frontier, free. All of which require people to have purchased the base game (which is entirely not free in real world economic terms). I do recognize people are sensitive to DLC pricing issues, but I buy them all to make content so I draw a different line. I don't mean to get into an esoteric debate on economic framing though. If Microsoft or Bethesda said something was free, they would have to live up to FTC regulations. I'm a UA-cam content creator describing a ship in the game. That's essentially it.
Agree, No Man's Sky has been releasing free content for years. And no monthly pay to play fee like other Bethesda titles. I enjoy Fallout 76 and ESO and have played both since launch but do not enjoy when hampered with small inventories and bank space and small camp allowances. Being on a fixed income I can only get subscriptions once or twice a year for either game. I'd rather save my money for a new game. Fallout London is awesome and FREE with free mods if you like going that route.
I have long believed Hello Games was essentially making up for their launch BUT more importantly just testing what they were building for Light No Fire. They announced work on that within a year of the NMS debacle (without naming it) and have been working on it with a title for five (?) years. So as much as I'd like to attribute their NMS updates to altruism or a sincere desire to 'make things right', it seems clear to me it was also aligned with their development efforts for LNF. Having the option to push (test) on the NMS player based is a great bonus opportunity. Had they chosen to make an entirely different game with no/little overlapping technology, I'm not sure they could have done it. BGS does the same thing with their engine to some extent. In any case, we are fortunate to have so many fine titles to choose from. Younger me would have never believed where we'd be now. ;)
If Bethesda continues to bring content like this. I'll definitely buy it. In my opinion Escape is the best paid creation so far.
💯
I one hundred percent agreed. I played through it multiple times just because I enjoyed it so much. Definitely would pay for more like it.
If they lowered the price down to 300 credits instead of 500, it'd probably sell like hotcakes.
@@rachellynnsummers6273 I gotta be picky... my game won't always work if I got to many mods going and still can't use very many anyway

I couldn't get to a "1" either. But the math comes out to an answer other than "1". Don't know why Kineer was able to select "1".
So what number did you use? @HippieGenie

How is the ship free? - this is a paid for creation
I really dont understand the drama behind paid dlc. No one is forcing them to buy it. @@kineer
With that perspective, paying for the base game would mean that no items given to (or stolen by) the player character in-game is "free".
@@CharlesVanexXPeople just love to complain.
Why do some of the paid creations turn off achievements? Like wtf is the point?
Surprising!
Absolutely not. I am not paying for quests. Micro transactions are bad. Mmmmkay?
I've never considered playable content as a microtransaction myself. Thanks for checking in.
Younger me would have never believed where we'd be now. ;)
