So I misspoke when I said the water bottle holders work for up to a "30 liter fuel bottle." I meant 30 OUNCES. I'm sorry I didn't catch that in the editing process.

Have these and love them. Absolutely waterproof. Road through a Texas thunderstorm and contents remained bone dry. Downside is it added about 30 minutes to my morning everyday reattaching them because I was taking them inside the motel every night.

I was trying to decide between the Tusk Pilot and the $$$$ Kriega OS panniers as I have the Kriega modular system already.
    This clinches it.
I'm a novice motocamper (read that as planning my first attempt this year) and no sense dropping 5x the cost unless I start to channel my inner Charley Boorman.

Hey man. Sorry to be like this but I cannot agree at all. I bought the pilot bags without the metal plate and they really suck.
They're hard to install, they have to be adjusted every single time that you change the load, they are hard to get into and they jiggle around unless you spend 5 minutes slowly cinching down every strap.

I think they are really good quality for the money but definitely heavy and a pain on the rear to take on and off the bike, if you use the quick release plate makes it easier but even heavier. I feel you can fit more stuff easier without the waterproof liner but again you are loosing the waterproof capability.
