I'm a first generation American on my fathers side. His mom (my grandmother) was from Punjab. She passed away some years back and my father is the last of the family that speaks Hindi fluently. So, I would like to speak to him in Hindi as a birthday gift in a few weeks. He'll be 83 and I know he'll love it. Thank you for this.

Actually you can use “kya haal hai” informally too. “Aap kaise hain?” On the other hand is formal, you can convert it into informal by saying “Tu kaisa hai?” for male and “Tu kaisi hai?” for female. Or you can simply say “kaisa/kaisi hai?” Dropping the subject which is considered okay in Hindi

の日本語辞書カイラウィ Actually "Kaisey ho" or "Kaisi ho" is more polite informal. Because "kaisa hai" or "kaisi hai" is used only if you are very close to the person, or if he or she is your peer or younger. Sorry if you think it is incorrect.

    • @margedtrumper9325

What's your name- "Aapka naam Kya hai"
How are you-" Aap kaise ho" or just "Kaise ho"(Informal, but mostly used) or "Kya haal hai" or "Kya haal chaal hai"
How's it going- "Kaisa chal rha hai sab"
What's up- "Kya ho rha hai"
If we add the word "Aur" in the beginning of the above mentioned Hindi sentences then it will seem more likeable.
    For example- "Aur Kaise ho"
"Aur Kaisa chal raha hai sab"

I have been learning to speak Hindi for a short time but this is helpful while I am at work and can just have it on in the background. I do wish it was 8 hours long of common phrases instead of 1.5 hours long repeated. Bohut bohut dyanavad. Alvidia!
