I replaced it with a $60 3" foam mattress and am very happy.

Wish I could find mattress without gel, or a foam/foam mattress topper, and preferably cotton. A recent search found zilch that was available thru local box stores.

How about adding this consideration ... New mattresses not coated in fire retardant / stain resistant petro chemicals that you'll be breathing in for months or even years.
