    Your oil light only comes on when there is low oil pressure and doesn't inform you when your oil is getting low like a lot of people think, the oil as got to get as low as a litre of oil in sump to bring on oil light as the oils that low that the oil pump is sucking air and not just oil, usally if oil light comes on its a faulty sensor or your oil pump is packed up and not circulating oil causing no oil pressure

    You should oil your seals to help ensure a good seal just a tiny amount on your finger tip around the seal you are fitting i have done this many time on various vehicles. Great video tho your getting much better and learning along the way great stuff keep it up bud :D

    Good day mate, great video. Very common problem on the Astra's, i replaced my gasket twice already, the first time i just used the gasket and it ended up leaking again but my second gasket i replaced i used Victor Reinz sealer and it been holding up like a Champ. Basically put some on the all around and on the o ring seals. Just tiny bit. But thats just my point of view and experience. Please do keep us posted the leak if its gone.
    Also i check my oil and water every day every time before i start my car just some good practices

    Check every fluid at least once a week unless sooner is required. One of the biggest causes of car failure is the failure to observe your car.

    Always worth changing out the O ring on the oil cap as I found mine was leaking there as well as the gasket on my first VXR.
    On a different note my Astra VXR Arctic Edition that I owned for a week and half will be up for salvage soon. Had a stolen car hit it, writing it off outside my home last Thursday evening 😪 still gonna get another one tho...hopefully 🙄😂

    hi guys for everyones that gasket leaks you need to put high temp silicon on the lugs and around that area as it always leaks further down line onces you instsll a new gasket. halfords sells the black silicon upto 600 dagree

  • @darrenmicklewright2008
    @darrenmicklewright2008 3 роки тому +1

    It might not be the gasket. Mine leaks like that but it's the filler cap and oil leaking down the engine and looks like rocker cover gasket

  • @1979bailey
    @1979bailey 5 років тому +2

    You’ve got an underlying problem if it keeps leaking check the one way valve that runs from back of rocker cover to inlet manifold as pressure in the head can push oil out gasket or your rocker cover is warped from over tightening or worst case is your engine is breathing heavy from rings or valve

    Did mine a couple months back bro, used gasket sealant to close it up, still getting a bit of leaking in the same place so be looking to see if the no sealant approach is best 😎👊🏻, plus never had an oil light come on my self and it’s been pretty low once G 🤪👊👊

    Warped rocker cover mate if it keeps leaking, min to max on dipstick is not much oil at all so maybe not low enough yet to flag a light?

    Don’t know if you’ll still see this haha, but I’ve got a vxr and it’s leaking oil slowly from similar place to yours in this video, I took it to a garage and they’ve said they think it’s valve stem seals. I don’t think it’s this as I have barely any smoke and definitely not blue it’s white but lasts a little while on cold start or high revs. Could you advice what you think it may be. Thanks

      R444T if you are on the VXR owners Facebook page , there is a guy called Matty Jones who does them with the head on and replaces rocker cover gasket all for £80. Does it in less than an hour. He used nevlock stem seals. Uprated ones.

      Courtney Sport sell a complete timing belt kit for the VXR for about £120, including the 3 pulleys & water pump, gasket etc & its all genuine GM parts if your doing it yourself. Great Vid by the way Hayden.

    • @guyhorner8165
      @guyhorner8165 5 років тому

      Its quite an easy job to do & the Gates instructions that come with the kit are very clear plus there are vids on U Tube to show you how its done as well.The most important thing for this type of job is take your time,read the instructions carefully & double check the timing marks after installation before starting up the engine.

      Just being Hayden
      It saves your turbo oil seals and make them last a lot longer its only £10 it’s the tx autosport one
      If you get a little smoke after coming of hard boost this can help stop it and with a little thicker oil (10w-40)

    • @markp620
      @markp620 5 років тому

      When I had my car mapped last year, Sean at sm tuning reckons those restrict or bolts cause more trouble then what they are worth so never fitted one, if you have a car newer then 2007 like me the restrictor bolt is not needed as the turbo was redesigned with the hole not in the bolt but with the feed hole inside the turbo itself, thus adding a restrictor bolt to a turbo that was updated will eventually start causing more problems, if your smoking damage is already done a restrictoe bolt will help but not repair the problem of knackered seals
