- How to replace the valve/rocker cover gasket on an Astra H, 1.8 petrol engine. The gasket can often fail resulting in an oil leak around the engine bay. The O-rings for the spark plugs are also combined into the gasket, meaning that a failed gasket may result in oil in the spark plug wells.
Great video and much appreciated. I’ve got a suspected air leak from the rocker cover so I’m going to replace the cover and gasket using this video as my guide
Appreciated man hope it goes well
Nice video. Very helpful and everything explained clearly. Thanks
Great vid. Very helpful. Cheers
can u send a link for eu to find this gasket to buy?
how many Nw to tighten the bolds
10 nm sorry haha
These bloody torx screws are killing me in this car. Some of the bits are hard to come by
Does it worth to change only the gasket or should the cover be replaced as well? I have some leaks and my spark plugs gets flooded by oil.
The pcv valve that's Integrated Into the cover is apparently a common failure points and with shipping the difference in price for gasket vs new cover with gasket was only about 10-15 pounds so it isn't necessary but was worth it for me
@@BurningOilYT Do you recommend getting an original cover or the OEM works as well?
I got mine from autodoc, can't remember brand but not original part, didn't have car long enough to know if there were any quality issues
@@BurningOilYTty so much brother, i will replace the cover as well then. Thank you!
They Whatsup man do you know what that connection is called right behind the dipstick at 1:43 that connects to the valve cover I guess?
The one that’s right under that bolt at 2:31 when your pointing at it the plastic piece broke on my moms connected to the metal piece but I can’t seem to find the name of it anywhere idk where else to look
@brianguerrero9163 hiya mate I've tried having a look but I'm not sure to be honest, might be worth taking a picture and posting on the astra h forums theres some really knowledgeable people on there that might be able to help
@@BurningOilYT okay man greatly appreciated thank you!
Removing de sparkplugs are not necessary (maybe better to let them in)
No not actually necessary, I needed them out here though so I could clean up the residual oil that had gotten past the failing o-rings
