Hi there very good interesting video. Its unusual that the block is warped, normally its just the head, but maybe very severe overheating took place (lack of coolant & also due to not having a clear temp gauge on the instrument panel & not many people know about the hidden one in the menu !!). Your right about the torx bolt on the tensioner, mine rounded on me in situ but replaced it with a normal hex bolt.
i know this video was posted from 2 years ago but i thought i might give it a shot for a question. I got a z20LET and mine has a blown head gasket too. Now i have a other Problem that my engine is leaking Coolant on the floor when i turn it off and leave it over night. The next day theres coolant everywhere on the floor. Where could that come From? under the car theres nothing to see... i did a leak test and the whole system was sealing properly. my friend got the same Problem but i cant see where it is leaking.
Have you got a coolant system pressure tester? What normally happens is when you drive the car around with a slightly blowing headgasket, it pressuris the coolant system and coolant blows out the back of the expansion tank. After a hot shutdown and parking up it will continue to drip for sometime.
first thank you for your answer, i did test the system when the car is off and everything is sealing but after a longer ride i have on the passenger side under the car a big coolant leak and i cant say where its coming from. i heard something that theres is a hose that gose behing the oilcooler or something. could possibly that leak?
@@damjanmilosevic4161 Have you replaced the headgasket yet? Like I say the cooling system over pressurizes from combustion gasses entering the water jackets forcing coolant to escape form the expansion tank after hot shut down.
I've changed the head gasket and burnt valves on my 2005 Astra H on 3 separate occasions now...I have to change it again since there is oil leaking into the coolant reservoir. I don't know why it keeps happening. Engine went to engineers, and they say the block is not warped. Car drinks coolant like a desert camel.

Not sure is it something wrong on your island there and cooling liquids for engines, but I did bought one used engine from there (UK) and also on every Z20XXX video on UA-cam I see all blocks are corroded quite bad. In my old Z20LET that did quite a lot, block inside looks like brand new unlike one I got from UK that I had to do some really heavy cleaning of corrosion inside cooling jackets. WTF if going on there in "good save the queen" country is kind of mystery to me. It is true that clean water is best heat conducting medium, but also it will help to corrode almost anything. Is it that people just do not care so much or something else, hard for me to say. I have also noticed Antifrize is mixed in some videos with distilled water or deionized water. WTF I do not get it. Distilled water is quite much clean water unsaturated with anything and it will want to bind with what ever it can bind. That can just promote corrosion much better than normal as I understand. To conclude, so much heavily rusted water jackets in UK videos is quite strange to me. BTW keep up the good work. Bring on more videos, like it.
Hey man, thanks for the comment. Just found this in the "spam" folder. Anyway im not too sure what the story is with the corrosion exactly. Possibly engines left sitting (broken) for long periods minus coolant and or because they are quite cheep ish cars and get used & abused maybe a bit neglected also?
It's the dex cool coolant they advise to use. It turns orange very quick . Iv flushed mine 3 times with new coolant in 6 months trying to get it clean but the water jackets must be bad as after 3 days it starts changing colour again and iv had to change the reservoir to a new one due to orange rust staining
Went into the comment section to see what people think on the rust issue I'm still none the wiser..🤣😂 top vid, look forward to the next one! 💪👊
Haha thanks mate! The gasket was corroded, maybe the old owner never changed coolant? Then I'm guessing block overheated causing warping.

previous owner not changing the oil or not using high quality oil. might be one of the reasons the head gasket blew. engine got to hot.
Is that deck within tolerance though? After all, it's a Vauxhall and that's not where it failed.
Haha fair point. I don't know what the exact tolerance limit is but personally on my builds I would deck the block.

Does it have new valve guides? Block decked?
It has been pressure tested before surfacing, and at the shop they said there is no need for valve seats, only seals are replaced
