What do you think about combining a radiant barrier and rigid foam boards for wall and roof insulation? The pole barn company offers radiant barrier and I'm thinking of installing the rigid foam board myself afterwards.

If I have a four inch concrete floor and use the 7.5 inch foam do I fold the excess under the concrete or just have the excess 3.5 inches above the concrete? Your answer would be greatly appreciated. Hello Jeff and Welcome . The extra Sil foam should lay under your concrete for better insulation from air pockets from your grade work this will keep air from traveling up between your band board and floor . I Hope This Helps good luck with your Building and Thanks for Watching
Hello. I put the seal from the top of the concrete and down to the gravel rolling under the bottom of the floor. I stapled along the band board and the 6x6 poles to hold in place once the concrete dried it also serves as an expansion joint. I hope this helps and Thanks for Watching.
Awesome! Is this like a vapor protection? What about water (I know if the ground is graded properly you might not have any issues) during a hurricane or storm?
Hello , yes it is a vapor barrier and it also serves as an expansion between the wood and concrete . As the metal on the outside of the building heats or cools the can expand and contract while providing an air tight seal between the band board and concrete . Thanks for Watching

I used the Sil foam so that I could pour the concrete close to the band board and stud the wall on top of the finished floor but the 2" foam will allow you go deeper below grade protecting from the outside elements and serve as a larger expansion joint. I like this method. However, I'm not going to put my post below ground. I'm going to pour an actual footer and secure the post in a bracket that is embedded in the concrete.

I just don’t like the idea of wood going into the ground. Bringing the concrete above grade, then sill sealer and wood on top of the sill sealer may cost more up front., but not that much considering the whole cost of a barn.
Good Morning . I agree with you , having a foundation and then the slab is the best way to go if you are planning to finish your building from the start . We intended this building to be a barn to park equipment in , then it evolved into a finished building because of the open floor space .Thanks for Watching
