Shutting down, too windy!

- ** We decided to shut the combines down due to the wind and extreme fire 🔥 Hazzard it was causing. There had already been a fire again (not ours) the day before in a crazy wind, and it took alot of Crop as the result.
** This gave us more time to compete the moving of chickpeas from the bins into the bags and service/greese the equipment.
** This is not a common issue and have only shut harvest a few times over the years.
** Ps. I am very sick of sensors on all new equipment. 😂
** This video was shot with my Google phone, and thank goodness, because of you think this phone is sensitive to the wind, you haven't heard the Note 20 yet with it! 😂 Winds were gusting up to 90km.

You now have spare time to take the backhoe out and try to find the LOST WRENCH 🤣🔧🔧😂
That wrench will probably re-emerge in a seismic event in Seattle someday.
nitrodad15 🤣🤣
Spend $550 in fuel and time for a $15 wrench.
Never forget!!
Kirk Gibbs Yes but cheaper than putting through a combine 💸💰💵
"I love diesels without DEF!"
We all do Mike. We all do. 😂😂
Ah, the old days when you could fill the tank with water and it’s confuse the brain 👍.
Yep nothing but headaches and down time. Take the most basic component on an engine and make it into the most problematic nightmare possible.
I actually hate exhaust gas recirculation on a diesel engine more. Damn US EPA mandates.
@@markam306 you'll notice that any form of "progress" post 2000s is actually a form of insanity.
Sam,
100% accurate.
The EPA set air quality standards which were unreasonable, very low NOx and particulates. It was commonly known that the EPA would only approve systems that included EGR. They held to their edict and let the American trucker pay for the mess. Besides constantly failing DPFs and EGR systems the average fuel efficiency of class 8 trucks in the US fell from 6.5 mpg to 6.0 mpg loaded. The logic of burning more fuel to reduce emissions has escaped me.
The Europeans wanted both reduced emissions and reduced CO2 and allowed their engine manufactures to pursue efficiency. In the last few years the EPA has looked at reducing CO2 and mandated an increase in fuel economy. This has been characterized by the press and literature as the government pushing for yet more progress. All this move is really doing is demanding that fuel efficiency be returned to the performance of diesels before the heavy handed regulators messed it up. They want credit for trying to undo their own screwup. Arrogant bastards.
Glad to hear you about 1/2 done with harvest. !!
New subscriber here from Ireland, really enjoy ur channel. Keep the vids coming great to see how ur harvest is going. Nearly all cattle and sheep here so nice to see ur combines. I used to drive a grain cart in Australia watching urs brings back good memories. 👍
Great seen the working of your farm . I check in regularly from Ireland 🇮🇪Good luck with rest of the harvest 2020. Kieran
That 4840 is badass!!! They are Freaking tanks..we had one for 15 years but was relatively low hours in South Carolina where we keep them nice n clean..
Unfortunately, they see alot of dust haha
Good on you Mike!! Hard call to make but safty first. Come get the rain up here we have had to much.
That stance on the big Fendt with front and rear duals looks cool ;)
You always ask yourself really great questions
🤔 And I can always stump myself too 😂
Saludos Mike te escribo desde Venezuela me parece excelente la explicación creo que es la más importante de todas la cual es el mantenimiento del equipo. Éxitos miles 🙏
Thats unreal wind. Thanks for showing us
As soon as I saw the goggles on when they were unloading truck, it took me right back to unloading corn this past winter, man are goggles are essential
That’s why we have trees in central Kansas!!slows down the wind some!! It’s dry here also !! Been hard on soybeans. Glad we canirrigate some !!!
"I am so sick of sensors" aka why we see so many tractors like the JD 4840 on all the farms including those with new equipment like yours. It's also why my tractor is a 1993 Ford.
We invested in hurricane straps for our hoppers a couple years ago. Definitely tarp savers in wind like that
All a 1975 tractor need to run is oil, water and diesel...A 2020 tractor needs oil, water, diesel , DEF AND An I.T GUY A COUPLE DAYS WITH SOME STINKING SENSORS FOR IT TO RUN!!!! ....
Mike that massy will save the day everytime .
If you get locking grease gun chuck you can film and grease! That chuck changed my life when comes to greasing, especially with old fashioned Manuel grease gun lol. 👌👍😉
You have a great view from the bin.

😆🤷🏼♂️
Hey I pick up your hat the other day. Lol made it all the way down to Oklahoma! Panhandle is getting ready to get snow. ! Winter is coming. Great video!
lol you're lukky one of them WELKERS didn't nab it on the way past their place.... ;) lol
If you suffer from lots of wind I believe they do a tablet to help with that.
I find the DPFs worse as they always choose the most in opportune times to need a regen
Go up on top of the grain bins in a windstorm - good plan.
We had that problem about 3 weeks ago it was so windy the straw coming out the back of the combine was all over the place. I struggled to get it all in the baler pick up ( as seen in one of my videos) and same as you we had no rain which is also very unusual
Look at you, knocking out a 20 minute video! 👍🏼
Excellent video, thanks for share.
Love love love that we are getting longer videos now that you have a new phone
You like diesels without ADBLUE ? I think many many many people do and sensors hahaha , welcome to my world . It's pretty sad this time of year
Mike, your parking your equipment side on to the wind and they are all side by side so if the first one went on fire the wind wound blow the flames to the next machine and the next etc.
Might be better to park them further apart and facing into the wind.
I absolutely love your videos by the way. One of the best on here 👍👍👍
thanks for the video mike enjoyed it
If you're doing the 100 hour service doesn't it mean you do the second 50 hour too ??!! Hahahaha That is serious wind , glad no fire in that !! Never seen that retractable auger (Rodondo ,) before very slick !!!
Thought the same thing, but it seems he has 11 more hours to go before his 50 comes in. And 33.3 hours before the 250 hour greasing :) see 17:42
Nice fleet!
Outstanding video! Thanks
Thanks! 🙂
We have 3 Milwaukee m18 grease guns, and love them all. I say they’re the best electric grease gun on the market right now. Get the lock n’ lube coupler, well worth the money.
Thanks for the video very good video
Hi Mike, excellent video thank you.
Was just wondering if you've ever heard of a grease gun end fitting called Lock & Lube? I just bought one and I am extremely happy with it. It basically has a thumb operated latch that clamps onto the grease nipple, guaranteed no leaks and works up to 10,000 PSI. Comes with a spare set of Jaws and seals, I think mine was just shy of $50 but well worth it I think.
Thanks Mike!
I think we got your wind down in washington😂😂 woke up this morning to smoke and 20 to 30 mph wind
Mike has a lot of really great questions lol
That is a smart thing to do is to shut down in a wind storm. I shut down all the time when the wind blows, like you say you never will stop it. Also then you are reliable for a fire, and when a fire breaks out then what when your neighbor looses his crop because you never stopped.
Hi Mike.. Thank you for letting me tag along with your day.. here's hoping you don't get blown into Manitoba... Smile
or worse... MONTANA and he forgot his passport!! :) lol
@@alexmikhael5061 it could be worse.. It could have been North Dakota 😂😂😂
@@AureFreePress wait a min
that sure WOULD be worse...
if the whole state of
North Dakota landed in your front yard!!! :) LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHa ;) that was waaaaayyyy funnier in my head I Imagine ;) LOL HAHAHAHAAHAHAHa
I’m down here in the south eastern corner of Washington we had to stop cutting because it was too windy. Couple fires just north of us burnt down a few houses
Nice flags on the combine(s)!
Nice setup
Nice performance. I really like it
Nice day to carry plywood!
You have a nice equipment. I like Agpro equipment
4840 aka “Bert “ putting in work he ain’t scared of a little wind situation! Hope the wind dies down for you guys keep up the good work Mike and team appreciate all y’all! So Mike are you going to get to demo a 1167 Vario Mt next spring on a seeder? Looks like they can be weighted up to 60,000lbs. Thanks
Is the wind bad enough to blow the grain away when you’re unloading the combines and grain carts or does that not come into it and you stop purely for safety? Another awesome video btw thanks.
Sou apaixonado por agricultura Jaú SP Brasil abraços parabéns
Every farmer ever- I love diesel’s without DEF
How much storage do the bins have before you start using the bags ? Thank you ! You always have interesting videos . Do you have any places you have to grease daily ??
Hey Mike, I wish we could get some of that wind here (Ireland) to dry up the place. Every time a combine moves it lashes rain. Love the ideals. Would you drive the Massey Ferguson version??? Thanks.
Too windy to haul rocks! 😂
That wind has made it here to Ontario as well but we're get rain with it
We got about 1.5 inches of snow on the 7th of September. We are at Pincher Creek alta.
@14:59 haha. When someone wants an explanation but you can't decide between "I don't care?" and "it is what it is."
Looks almost like the dust storms on Interstellar
Here in the interior of Alaska we have 40 to 50 mph wind with 80 mph gusts today. Supposed to calm down this evening. We see a lot of wind here, so it's nothing unusual. Have a good one.
you live In the vally? or up forwards denali/fairbanks?
@@tboniusmaximus3047 Southeast of Fairbanks.
In northern Western Australia 45 degrees celcius is normal. Sometimes it gets as high as 50 degrees celcius where I’m from and that’s not even half way up north yet.
Love your videos! I was wondering where are all the John Deere's that you said you used on the grain buggies?
From now on instead of saying took the wind right out of my sales, it's now going to be " blew the lettace right out of my sandwich " hahahaha
Hahah 🤣🤣
Enjoy the videos thank you for taken time out to make them. Is he sample the product when emptying the trailers? Rough roads beat sensors up and rub wires the wrong way.
Yes..
@@mikemitchell2554 at 6:00 shows him gettin a sample and puttin into 5gal bukket... ;) or well @Tim Davenport ;) eh...
You probably don't have the time, but adding the audio afterward would sure sound better. You can't really hear the wind noise while shooting. Of course, if you are anything like me 🤪 , you'd prolly fergit what you wuz talkin' 'bout when you made the vid!!! Jist keepem' comin!
great video
Can’t beat the 40 series. I had a 4640 for 27 years
Those 16104 augers are big...i just delivered a couple to customers for Mazergroup NewHolland
any day that involves the burts is a good day
What brand grain bin monitor system are you useing? Does it do temp and moister? Can't kill them old Deere's,Dad always said the good old days "started" when Deere came out with the 30 series Deere and the sound guard cab....
Funny my mothers name is Susie and her sister is Sally. Another good video.
Bahaha that's awesome! 🙂 😂
You have Engelbert Strauss in Canada too? I also wear it everytime on my farm here in Germany.
No, I bring it back with me when I go over there.. They won't even ship here
Yesterday the vlog was on 4k it looked super crisp and sharp
"I love diesels without def"!
Good old JD 4840 }:)
Have a good day
What about 8r 410 demo and compare it to Fendt 942 . That would be a competition !
Would be awesome! Agco wouldn't back down to that, but Deere might 🤔😂🤷♂️
Cool vid
The 466 John Deere engine has a great sound to it
It is raining here in Alberta. Last night and this morning and it is moving out to the South.
I know.. We got our first rain here this morning
You should come here to west Texas in spring then you'd seen a whole lot more dust.
I am from pakistan. I really like your videos. Love you from Pakistan.
Too windy to combine Mike climbs a bin. Lol. Thats a farmer for you.
😂 It's so true
I love the great vid
Great video Mike not a great day good day to fly kites 🪁
holy nutso at 1:30 in the back round the flag on the fendt combine is stiff buddy. Question mike with all the wind u have up there i never see any wind energy machines,r they there and i just dont see them or perhaps is there too much wind????? awesome vids all of them thanks.Peace
There are some near Shaunavon and Cypress Hills area.
Hey Mike, do you get enough moisture to crop most years or do you crop every other year mostly?
We crop every year, but you never know what to expect
@@mikemitchell2554 hola viejo cómo estás soy Rubén de Argentina veo todos los vídeos pero no se inglés
Do we get to see a pro's and con's video on the 942?
I hope so! But not sure
I see a Wall Grain sticker on that bin
Come on mike! Get those truckers electric tarps and electric hoppers😝
Can you do a video on the grain bins. I am looking at westeel bins and wanted your opinion
That’s an average Day here in Southern AB. 😬🤔😡😢
Cool ☺️
Ya PTO bad deal had a small farmer here, while he was at work mother and son was using trackter one got rapped up and the other tried to save the first one and got rapped upto. He came home fond both off thim. Can't put your self in those shoes mentally don't want to either.😞
Yikes..... 😬 That's sad
Sensors and electronics are a real problem we upgraded the milking equipment with latest technology and had lots of problems with all the sensors. Great when they are all working but just not designed robust enough for farming.
Blew the lettuce right out of my sandwich😂
You'll go flop flop flop you dead funny how Mike said but true and deadly
Got a spare stub shaft for the gear box on that 16104?I need one right away
Hey Mike, will you demo the upcoming Fendt 1167 Vario MT some time next year? I would be very interested in how it performes in your farm...
Greetings from Germany
Yes, rumors say in autumn
Let-er rip the snow is coming!
With your volume of grain hauling I would have thought you would have electric chutes on the grain trucks or is it simply something else to breakdown 🔧
Just one more thing that could go wrong haha
Welker farms has them lastest video showed them shoveling grain of the ground cos something keeps opening them.
@@davidleitch8679 I personally think that was MIKE down there at the border with his 1500 watt CB RADIO pressing the button knowing each time it was doing... nevermind... lol hahahahaha
