No we dont. The chances of you getting skin cancer are incredibly small. Stop repeating this lie that if you dont use sun tan lotion that you will get skin cancer. I rarely were skin pretection and i hardly ever get sunburned let alone develop cancer. This myth that if you do not wear sun protection oil on your skin you will get skin cancer must die

Angie, like I said before, I live in the mountains of Idaho and it is so much drier than New England that it affects skin and therefore make up and sun screens ( which we need even more, since we are at 6000 ft above sea level) . The weather is something that everyone should have under consideration. I found Bare republic 30 spf in Walmart it works well under makeup and by itself. I went back and I bought about 5 tubes on clearance in December. I am going to run out soon! I hope they are not discontinued! You know how that happens! Thanks for your work!

I live in idaho and just spent a week up by Stanley and missed one midday reapplication because I forgot to bring my sunscreen with me on a hike...that was a big mistake. The mountain sun really did a number on my face and I'm definitely feeling the consequences. So here I am now trying to be 100% prepared for next time😂

If you're sensitive to fragrance and plant oils, steer clear of the P:REM. It's like wearing a citronella candle on your face and stings like crazy. The Australian Gold tint is perfect for my skin tone, but is extremely drying and almost impossible to remove - even with an oil cleanser I still need a wash cloth.

I have dry combination skin (oily nose), and what I currently do is apply Thinkbaby SPF 50 on my face and neck (yes, it leaves a bad white cast), and after a few minutes I apply Australian Gold Tinted SPF 50 sunscreen on top - since it's drying, it slightly mattifies the first sunscreen which is rather oily and makes me look presentable overall (no white cast).

A young female dermatologist told me in her MD office, maybe 7 years ago, that the SPF is accurately determined by placing sunscreen on the face like frosting on a cake -- that it needs to go on heavy for it to be the SPF indicated. So, Angie, you were right about not skimping on the amount. A pea size amount will cut the efficacy of the SPF, and yes, possibly in half --which the derm also told me.

You should try the all mineral sunscreen from Purito, it's great! If you're moving into chemical sunscreen from Europe and Asia, there are so many good ones, but one sold in the U.S that I really like is Beet the Sun from Krave Beauty. It's SPF 50 PA ++++ in Korea, but since the filters are not approved in the U.S the U.S version is not technically marketed as a sunscreen, but it is the exact same formula. That one is great along with the rest of the Krave Beauty line! :) Love your videos!

Thank you for doing this so that we don't have to! Many of the products you tested this year are products that I had been wanting to try, so your testing just saved me a ton of time and money. I do want to share that I have tried the CeraVe tinted hydrating mineral SPF 30 that was the winner in your 2020 roundup, and although I really like how it feels, it left me looking faintly orange. I have very fair skin with neutral undertone. Just FYI for other fair-skinned folks! I use the Paula's Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense, which I found thanks to your recommendation, as my everyday sunscreen and it works incredibly well - can even stand in as a light coverage foundation on no-makeup days. I have also recently discovered the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, which is a chemical sunscreen; I have sensitive skin so I can rarely tolerate chemical sunscreens but this one does not contain the most irritating chemical filter (octinoxate) and I can even use it on my eyelids without stinging! Thanks as always for your work, keep it up!

Hi Angie. Thanks so much for a fantastic and in-depth video on sunscreens. Over here in Qld, Australia, we have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. At 57 (tomorrow), I’ve had plenty of skin cancers cut out, frozen off, and burnt off over the years. The in thing in the 70s and 80s was to mix brown vinegar and olive oil and I’d spend 3 hrs on each side over the weekends. I was so so brown as a berrie, and boy have I paid for that. I think I’ve been a subscriber here for 3 or 4 years, and in that time Angie, you have really turned my skin around, and I can’t thank you enough. I won’t leave home without my 50+. My skin looks pretty amazing. I juggle between the Prem, neutragena mineral, and Australian skin cancer 50+ tint in which I have to mix 2 colours together which gives alovely glow. I’d love to try the Elta. Still thinking about it, but everything is sooo expensive in Oz. Btw, have to wait til next yr now before I can go overseas due to pandemic. Bummer😭 stay safe and healthy Ang, and sending you sunshine from Oz xxx🌺😊🌞

That's why you're told to to reapply it so soon, because docs know you don't put on enough in the first place. You need a model to help test these things, since you are nixing many sunscreens on very personal reasons to do with you alone, instead of thinking what the rest of the population your age might appreciate. Also, you shouldn't even allow a sunscreen into this if you can't get the answer to how much of the zinc and titanium are contained in the formula like you did that MakePrem thing last year. My skin is very sensitive and acne prone and that one doesn't cause any problems for me. I really love it! It doesn't burn my eyes either, which is a huge plus! That's the one I have purchased time and time again. I've been on the hunt for one that is similar to that one with a higher SPF, though. I love how that one performs on my skin and how well it works under makeup. But I wish it came in an SPF higher than 30! That's the only downside I have found with it! 🙁
SPF 30 is still good, but I personally prefer at least an SPF of 50 on my face! But I've never burnt with that one and it doesn't irritate my skin at all, so I still love it and highly recommend! 😊

Bought the Cere Vie and threw it out because it never dried down and made my skin itch with its heaviness. Am now using one available only through Amazon, Biore UV. Aqua. The ingredients are listed in Japanese, so I am not sure what is in it; however, it is SPF50++++, is light and non drying and dries down beautifully so I am able to wear under makeup or on its own. I highly recommend trying it.

Thanks for such a thorough review! I really love the CeraVe sunscreen. I don't wear foundation but this seems to even out my skin tone just enough so that I kind of feel like I'm wearing makeup. I do have dry/dehydrated skin so the formula works really well for me. I also use Purito's Comfy Water SPF which I really like, but it is not tinted. Not sure what the difference is between that one and the formula you reviewed.

I believe the comfy water is a mineral sunscreen and the one she reviewed is a a chemical one.

Angie I'm a relatively new fan and because of you, discovered Cerave face wash, which I love! Since you encourage sunscreen use every day, I decided to try the Cerave tinted and I love it! Just watched this video and thrilled it made the top of your "new sunscreens" list! I have very, very dry skin, so "greasy" is not too much of an issue for me, but I so appreciate you testing the sunscreens with makeup to see how they perform as this is so important!

Australian Gold is cruelty free and also doesn’t sell to China who requires animal testing. Try to look at Cruelty Free Kitty ‘s website when making choices for cosmetics and related products. It’s very extensive.

Angie - I hope you'll answer my question. For your testing I am assuming you also have serums (c, etc) under the sunscreen? If I use serums, especially the vitamin c, then sunscreen, then foundation I have a huge pilling problem no matter what make up, high end, low end. What is your secret to trying all those sunscreens over your serums and not having ANY pilling with any of those (at least you had not mentioned any pilling). Also a rant, I don't get why people love that Australian Gold - ugh! : ) Thank you for all you do!

As Australian Gold Botanical cannot be purchased in Australia (ironic I know) I've been trying other mineral sunscreens with terrible fails! I didn't realise how few sunscreens are not chemical and they sting the ..... out of my skin. So I'm waiting for my AGB to come from America. I will see if the Cera Ve works for me, but with my liquid foundation (Mirenesse) not much works. Thank you again Angie. You have totally changed my skincare regime, many, many of my products and I always listen to you. Of course we both have different skin types, so I take that into account. Really appreciate your videos, trials, testing and advice. Oh...Happy Mother's Day to you too Angie. Much love from Australia xxxx

It is very unfortunate that the FDA hasn’t updated their list of UV filters to allow more efficient ones from Asia and Europe. US way behind most countries when it comes to UV filters. Non US filters are much more efficient and elegant one the skin; no grease, no cast. You can get some on Amazon. Mineral filters are not as efficient as chemical ones.
Because I also react to chemical on my eyes, I use Australian Gold on my eyes. Since it’s too dry I apply a drop of Marula oil first and then the sunscreen - don’t dilute the sunscreen. Chemical on the rest of my face, neck, ears, décolletage, etc...
And don’t pay more for reef safe as there is no such proof. Listen to @labmuffin she explains it well.

The two types of "screens" perform in totally different ways (reflect vs absorb). Each has their merits. Many people can't tolerate chemical sunscreen due to stinging, burning eyes, etc.

TreeJays There’s more to it then just reflect vs absorb. @labmuffin explains it well in her various videos on the subject. It’s still too bad that the FDA doesn’t take allow better skin cancer prevention with tools - filters - already available to prevent the highest incidence of cancer i.e. skin cancer in the USA.

I use LRP Anthelios elsewhere on my face, neck, chest, ears. Both work well with makeup;concealer under eyes and foundation. Sine I wear makeup reapplying isn’t an option except on weekends when I don’t wear makeup.
