this was when i discovered ets 2; played the demo version till it expired and discovered how to find the full version online. I miss 2012; when life was simple

Looking back, the engine sounds were not that bad, especially for the time. I remember being amazed by the truck customization options and how "huge" the map was. I think none of us expected ETS2 to last this long, with potentially another 10+ years ahead of it.
Imo the sound were better than they are now (except mods ofc, they are amazing)

@@rotalorenzo6297 I think I played ETS1 the first time around late 2009. The first SCS game I played was Bus Driver, and I loved it. Afterwards I tried pretty much every game SCS had at the time 🤣.
imagine saying how huge the map is after having all the DLC's and including incoming Heart of Russia (?) + Greece any many others. Incredible.
I remember how I discovered ETS2 Demo version and really liked it. Good old times…

Nostalgia is a weird thing. I was playing at like 20fps on a shitty Lenovo laptop back then, with keyboard and mouse controls, but I remember it so fondly. I still enjoy the game with my 2070 and g27 setup, but its like the magic isn't there anymore.
Yah I don't know why I like the old outdated sections of the game and not the newer more up to date sections with better scenery
I used to play it on an old Asus laptop of the time, despite low framerates I'd still play it on high settings, with keyboard and mouse controls, and it's funny because I remember that so fondly too. Now I have a Logitech G29 setup with a shifter, and a pretty beefy PC to run it (more than enough for ETS2 anyway), but I get what you mean, the nostalgia factor lies with when I played on the laptop, I suppose it's probably to do with it being what got us to where we are now, and how things were simpler and new to us back then.
I'm join you guys... I used to play ETS on a old Acer laptop at very low settings... Now I have a gaming laptop from MSI and I can play the new ETS at max sets... But the old crappy days was something magic

It's amazing how this game changed trough the time.
How did it change? Mention some of the changes that didn't already exist through mods, for YEARS.

Omg you immediately brought me back to 2013/14 when i started playing it...oh the memories,i can almost "taste" the feeling of playing those early versions (with a crappy laptop obviously),it was beautiful
I also remember how i discovered it,thanks to a random video on my youtube home,and thinking "seems nice,let's see" and then found out about ETS 1 days later,never stopped playing it since i finally bought a copy a couple of months later

I remember that I bought it from a big shop in Esbjerg, the CD version. It was good, but I had it until 2019 when I realized you could get it on steam instead😂😂

Dang the first ever ETS 2 version had a lot of things recycled from German truck/ UK truck and even ETS 1 like the barriers ,truck names for unlicensed trucks(before they got a license from each company)
Btw i didn't play ets 2 in 2012 ,i knew about it only around 2017-2018 and started playing in 2020 with an outdated version ,before that i was playing those 3 games i mentioned earlier
It's crazy to think how far ETS2 has come since its beginning, 10 years ago.
Started playing ETS2 in 2013 on and off. As it was gifted to me on my 9th birthday. Had to re-download the game in 2020 as I got a new PC but must say I couldn’t get sick of playing even though I don’t really play it often
I remember my first truck being the stock yellow MAN truck in the dealer. How times have changed indeed ;)
When I've first discovered ETS 2 in 2012 or 2013 I didn't like it , I was rolling over at every curve , the traffic was more stupid than in 18 WOS , less options than in 18 WOS... I think I've played just one delivery , and than I've erased it from my PC and I've gone back to 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin. After a few months I've played again ETS 2 at a friend. Since then I've played ETS constantly , I started at least 5 profiles from scratch and I've made all of them at least level 50. I lost them because PC's broke. Just on the current steam profile I have about 3000 hours playtime in ETS , level 224 , over 1 million km driven , all available drivers and garages (excepting Iberia because I haven't bought it yet), over 800 trucks , almost 3000 trailers. The game has evolved quite much in 10 years , from 9 different truck models and types aviable to buy to 18(19) , to be able to buy trailers , to be able to raise/lower suspension and windows , to use retarders , engine brake , cruise control at the speed I choose, to block the diff , to raise one axle of truck/trailer etc.
I'm surprised that SCS still keeps updating mostly for free this game after all this time , some other games are not getting updates after few months and you need to buy a new version evey year.
My first truck in 2013 was the DAF XF 105, blue painted, beautiful times 🥲

It was me when I heard ETS release a new version, first time I played it was on my Junior high school, I played it on potato pc with 30 - 40 ish fps on low setting, I played the pirated version first, I even remembered the CD key when it was shared freely, I used that same CD key until it can't be used anymore.
I keep playing the pirated version until around 2017, then I buy the game on steam, it was my first purchase on steam, I still play this game to this day, ETS 2 is definitely one of my GOATED game
A lot has changed in the last decade, but you can still feel nostalgic when driving in the UK, Poland and Central Europe.
Many players ask us to rework old maps. Hmm. It's not good news for me that old maps are disappearing. Because my happy memories are gone!
And also a lot of Scandinavia has old stuff
@@TurkiyeGeography yes. A lot of time has passed since Scandinavia was also released. Some of the road textures feel old, but it's not too bad.

Yeah? How far exactly has it come? I've been running ETS2 with mods since mods became a thing and i don't see a single change. Everything SCS has added so far, has already been in the game (from mods) for YEARS. Couple of new trucks maybe....that's it.

I started playing in July 2021. And because of the fact i started without any DLCs and drove in Poland, Czechia and Austria (which didn't had a rework yet back then) i kind of feel this video, because those territories had thid old vibe to them

I start to play in 2013, when i bougth this game from Steam. Now I am 60 y/o and still play this game regularily, i made o Wheel with sequencial shifter, I have vieos on my channel regarding this wheel, today this is evolving to arduino version with force feedback, but this a must for me .
when i about 10-11 years old, my mom buy a disk with Euro Truck Simulator 2 demo version for about 300 rubles, awesome times

In early days, SCS Software has no license to use Mercedes-Benz trademark.
They named Majestic to their truck which similler to Mercedes-Benz.
And, there are too much clearance between a tractor and a trailer.

No, its 2012 and I was still playing many of the 18 wheels of steel series games.
I played this game with crack way in 2014-2016 by these early versions. And i can say this game was too much grey in older versions.
