MILTON HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE ONE OF THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE HURRICANES ON RECORD FOR WEST--CENTRAL FLORIDA
From the GeoCollaborate StormCenter Communications SISE Support Center this is the 12PM ET update on Hurricane Milton. This video is provided to support the movement of fleet utility vehicles and sharing of trusted information across public and private sectors to speed situational awareness, response and recovery.
KEY MESSAGES: HURRICANE MILTON
1. A large area of destructive storm surge, with highest inundations
of 10 ft or greater, is expected along a portion of the west-central
coast of the Florida Peninsula. If you are in the Storm Surge
Warning area, this is an extremely life-threatening situation. The
time to evacuate, if told to do so by local officials, is quickly
coming to a close.
2. Devastating hurricane-force winds are expected along portions of
the west coast of Florida, where a Hurricane Warning is in effect.
Milton is forecast to remain a hurricane while it crosses the
Florida Peninsula and life-threatening hurricane-force winds,
especially in gusts, are expected to spread inland across the
peninsula. Preparations to protect life and property, including
being ready for long-duration power outages, should be rushed to
completion.
3. Heavy rainfall across the Florida Peninsula through Thursday
brings the risk of catastrophic and life-threatening flash and urban
flooding along with moderate to major river flooding, especially in
areas where coastal and inland flooding combine to increase the
overall flood threat.

I work for a disaster response company's when needed. I'm on a wildfire now but have worked 7 hurricanes. Im praying for folks. This is the best channel for the real laid out info and his voice is calming. Thanks for great knowledge and updates!

I don't even live in Florida, but I really appreciate your no nonsense report on this record breaking hurricane. You provide better coverage than most news stations and I love seeing all the scientific instruments plotted on the radar and showing us their readings! What your not taking into consideration is Tampa bay will be at high tide when these huge waves and storm surge comes in

What you’re not taking into consideration that the winds in Tampa will be from the west and blowing the water out of the bay
The water is currently being pulled out of Tampa bay and is getting circulated counterclockwise towards south Florida . I don’t think you understand how storm surge works

I know a family with a winter home in Port Charlotte. You can’t get hurricane insurance there.
It's one mph from cat 3, so barely cat 4, and continues to slow.
Actually more than 1 tornado has touched down, Clewston and broward
Correct and two tornadoes crossed over I-75 down in the everglades. Us Floridians call it alligator alley

If there wasn’t so much wind shear, Milton would be so much stronger, and likely would be the strongest to ever hit FL.
Watching from Switzerland, my father and brother are in Lee County (Bonita Springs), in evacuation Zone B. Despite the Lee County Emergency Operations Center issuing mandatory evacuations for Zones A and B, they decided to stay. My father says they are safe in the house, but I told him, that it is too dangerous..I’m unsure what to think-am I overreacting, or is my concern justified?
Unfortunately I think you’re justified. I hope they can stay safe. They should probably get to a County shelter ASAP.

In the past, he has always gotten through hurricanes without much trouble. I have the feeling that he’s underestimating the current situation. I’m deeply worried about him and my brother.
