Dear Lord, with this rendition Christmas should be celebrated every day. Smokey, focused, intonation, articulation, clean from top to bottom. What brand Horn is this...I need to rush to the Bank? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Perfect Jazz. Well interpreted, one of my favourite songs especially on sax. Haha as absolutely smashing as the solo was it was certainly a bit out of place. I guess we're all different. I always play this one with a bit more... resolution. A more major/blues feel. Yours is undoubtedly jazz which leaves you free to change tempo and stuff. You have a beautiful range though. Can hit both ends very very well.
Thanks a lot!! The audio is from a youtube playalong (just search for the tune, and you'll find it on YT), and I don't really have the changes, but they're probably easy to find. I just quickly played by ear.
This Horn sounds like a Taiwanese Saxaphone assembled in Asia, fine tuned and finished in the USA? Cannonball maybe? Mouthpiece sounds like 10M fan Classic, Showtime, or?
Brother, you dissected that Song like a Biologist dissecting a Frog? No stones left unturned : articulation, intonation, timbre, phrasing and style is vehemently unmatched?
@@davefstrong what brand/model tenor is this? I’m in school and finally ready to upgrade mine and I have been in love with this full-bodied sound for years now. I know that the majority of the sound is you and your fantastic technique, but that sax seems to take whatever you give it.
It's obvious from your question that you wouldn't understand any musical explanation. Listen to Twinkle Little Star a few times and then listen to Cheesecake by Dexter Garder and see if that enlightens you a tad.
The benchmark for all Tenor Saxaphone sound.
It’s 8 years since you posted this and still the best. Thanks for posting 😊
This is criminally underrated
I come back to this song and jam for all of December every year.
Thank you!

Dave,
Great tune !!! very smooth tone. What are you using for track ?
Just one that I found here on UA-cam. It was one of the first results when I searched for the song name. Thanks!!!!!
Kindly tell me what Horn, Mouthpiece, Reed Set-up is this?
Brother, you dissected that Song like a Biologist dissecting a Frog? No stones left unturned : articulation, intonation, timbre, phrasing and style is vehemently unmatched?
which mouthpiece do you use and reeds? thanks
Waiting for the day UA-cam auto play realizes not to line up Christmas songs in September
Don't know why but reminds me of Tubby Hayes.
sorry, you use the rico orange box reed for tenor saxophone at this song?
Nah dog, probably a Lavoz medium hard at that point. Definitely a brighter mpc than I use these days though. :)

Using the Eclipse ?

Better than Kenny G's version.
November 1st 2020. And how is this better than Kenny G's version?.

hi david. what brand of reed do you use?
Lavoz. I think a medium-hard on this, but these days a medium with a bigger tip opening mouthpiece.
@@davefstrong ok... but you using the mouthpiece is a ebonit hard rubber or metal bright sir?, sorry...
@@johantanjung4905 no problem! I think it waS a hard rubber Phil-Tone mouthpiece
@@davefstrong ok sir..., i interesting your tenor sound really. but i need ask to you about my set up again.may ask you??
@@johantanjung4905 of course! What are you currently playing on?

Practice and listen to him the night before you go to sleep and helps the next day magically, like for real
