I find the interactions with kiljaeden quite interesting, tracking and fracking grab stuff from the portal. Because the portal is not a deck fanottem always costs 30 but destroying your deck with wheel of death while it’s up counts towards the ceaseless expanse
As far as I am aware, because of how Kil'jaeden works it only refills your deck when you try to draw (EDIT: or shuffle), meaning you can play Wheel of Death then immediately play Fanottem on the same turn so long as you don't draw (or shuffle) cards in between those actions.
I know that was not the point here but how did that ever got through playtesting? All Mages yesterday eventually killed me with Molten Rune because of Overflow Surger. I mean you really had to build up a spelldmg combo in the past, now you just spam Elementals. And there is almost nothing you can do to disrupt this shit because they are just way too fast. Obnoxious expansion so far...
That last game surprised me. Major respect for a fellow Reno DH enjoyer. Havent played it since expansion launch, but man was it fun to try and make it work pre expansion. Might have to revisit it and Reno Paladin.
I'm kinda doing the same thing with Druid. Un'Goro Brochure and Taelan Fordring get it in my hand very consistently, and the rest of the deck is basically spells. Throw down KJ on turn 4 and then having a bunch of card draw is fun, if not the best way to play it. Also thrown him in to a few of my lategame ETC sideboards, as insurance against Bombs and Plagues. Just overall love the card. It doesn't have to be Quasar levels of power to be fun.
Hey Roffle, you’ll most likely never see this comment but I had a Demon Hunter deck focused on Kil’jaden too but I used quest to get an extra discount on those demons from the portal. I also used a drakkari enchanter to get the portal primed so I’m better off with the discounted demons. Would love to see a more viable variation from you some day!
Every time I find an archetype I find enjoyable, Blizzard makes a single card (or makes a change to surrounding cards) so the archetype is now unplayable. It’s almost like they hate all players besides the fastest of fast smork decks and is actively discouraging everyone but those players to spend money on this game.
Man the kiljaeden portal seems to work really weirdly in regards to what the deck actually is and how it interacts with getting specific types of cards.
After he plays Kil'Jaeden, there are a few rush demons such as the 6/6 for 6 that reduces cost by 6 and Illidari 8/8 for 8 etc so he might guarantee a draw 2 for 2?
Elemental Fire Mage do be oppressive. What pisses me off is that the gameplay on their side is mostly mindless. Let's hope other decks will flourish. KJ is a very fun card as well:)
Keep the chain of elementals going, check. Draw a bunch and deal 2+ damage to everybody for almost no mana, check. Randomly get infinite damage spells if you have the splitting elemental, check. The opponent walled up and didn't kill me yet? Deal 6+ damage with each of the nerfed elementals, ignoring his field, check. That's the gameplay I've seen played against me. I am trying to find something that has a neutral to good match up against it while not committing too much into dealing with them only. That said, it's entirely possible it's me who's bad at dealing with the "issue" at hand:)
I think Kil'jaedan is one of the best additions to the game in this expansion, because it gives control players a strong endgame tool that doesn't feel painful to lose to. I think Kil'jaedan has the potential to allow true control decks to come back without forcing them to rely on fatigue gameplan, nor having to worry about fatigue or cards like Tho'grun.
I do not know what people are smoking. First of all Kil removes one of the win conditions which is fatigue. Not good. More importantly, however, it changes the game, if both players play him, into one of those random Tavern Brawls where your skill does not matter because you got three crappy demons in a row and your opponent got exactly what he needed to win. Oh it also removes shuffling win cons like bombs and plagues. Not a fun card in my book.
@@sathrielsatanson666 The fact that it removes these wincons is the reason it's so good. Because these wincons are awful to begin with. Idk what YOU are smoking for claiming otherwise.
@@alonkob2127 No, fatigue was always an integral part of HS and way to prevent games from going for an hour. So I am smoking the pipe that makes me believe that Kil is regarded because it allows that. Not that it matters that much, mind you, because control is not useable anyway in the current meta.
@@sathrielsatanson666 Kil'jaedan doesn't allow games to last on forever, it generates for you bigger and bigger threats, so it also has an inevitability aspect. But because this form of inevitability is board based instead of just uninteractive grindy damage, it's infinitely more interesting, and straight up more healthy. Strategies based on fatigue, mill or plagues are are inherently boring, unfun and usually toxic. They lead to games that feel one sided, and if anything they make one player's choices and decisions completely pointless. If you think these strategies are anything but toxic, I don't know what to tell you, except that it's a really good thing that you aren't a developer.
@alonkob2127 it also generates taunts and lifesteal minions. You do not have to explain how it works, I have been in games wheregame was going 15 turns after Kil was played.
I think Kil'jaeden battle cry stack, right? If you play like 3 Kil'jaeden, you would get like +6/+6 each end of turn. I really want to see the deck focus on playing as much Kil'jaeden to get like +50/+50 or something.
I have had it with these motherfreakin druids playing this motherfreakin card. Seriously. DELETE it. Or make it pure Warlock card, as it WAS SUPPOSED to be. Classes like druid having already infinite access to dragons in control decks PLUS this shit? Unbelievable, Blizz.
I can see why you do it, but as someone who just enjoys casually watching HS I really dislike how you click away the opponents cards when they're played. Some of the new cards I have no idea what they do, and you dismissing them so quickly gives new players no time to read the card.
I find the interactions with kiljaeden quite interesting, tracking and fracking grab stuff from the portal. Because the portal is not a deck fanottem always costs 30 but destroying your deck with wheel of death while it’s up counts towards the ceaseless expanse
