Sunshine was one of the very first games I ever beat! I was 5 years old when it released, and my mom’s coworker was a big gamer and so always wanted to encourage me along. He bought the strategy guide for me so I definitely didn’t finish it on my own, but I have such nostalgia for that guidebook/ that time in my life. Almost impossible to choose a favorite game between 64/Sunshine/Galaxy I have such beautiful memories of all three at different points in my childhood. I go back to all 3 on the collection whenever I need a nice comforting game to play.
I miss strategy guides. I remember bringing the Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 guides to school and reading them lol. And yeah, the 3D Mario’s are all so fun and chill!
This is by far my fav Mario game! It was a defining moment in my childhood. Thanks for making a video on this! It was such a refreshing experience playing this game. Got to check out your next video. Can’t wait!
I love Mario during that era being so willing to get weird, unexpected and creative like Sunshine, TTYD, and Luigis Mansion. For a while during the 3ds/Wii U it felt like that creativity was gone, but I feel like with the Switch things are finally back on track.
I'd say I have a love hate relationship with Sunshine. It's an amazingly creative and unique game, but is one that pisses me off sometimes which isn't what I usually attribute Mario games with. Mario has become a little safe ever since New Super Mario Bros, but I think that spark of creativity is coming back with Odyssey and Wonder. Amazing vid man!
Thank you!! I agree with you that the NSMB games are too safe. They’re actually some of my least favorite Nintendo games ever. And yeah, I think the frustration with Sunshine comes from the janky physics lol.
I played Sunshine for the first time as part of 3D All-Stars on Switch. I loved everything about the game, especially the setting, except the controls. Like man, those weird block levels and the freaking sand bird level irritated me like no other.
Yeah I find those levels extremely odd and unique for a Mario game. The physics are goofy and it's one of the rare instances where a first party mainline Nintendo game needed more polish.
Funny hearing from someone who was a kid during early adult swim, because I was teen/young adult and the target audience staying up for that weird shit lol. But my experience will not be majority here since I was that Kid in High school who was a Nintendo fanboy getting a gamecube launch day before ever getting a PS2 or later xbox
My best gaming memories are gamecube era and I want those days back!
Man you've shown a few games i completely forgot about

I adore Mario Sunshine
You have excellent taste!
11:20 again with the awesome choice in soundtracks. I hope you eventually cover that game too!

@@WITAWITAVG definitely agree. Gonna take a decent amount of time for me to forget about the physics and want to replay it.
