    Many thanks for this video as the holiday season can be challenging for BC patients. I fully agree that one should try to make the season as pleasant for oneself as possible to avoid any kind of stress (trying to please others and adjusting to others against own needs is stress too). The most important thing is to do what makes one happy, no matter what it is. Last year I had post-surgery radiation treatment exactly during the holidays (12/12-01/02). Even though I felt great with no side effects I really took it easy to keep it this way. So, every Saturday, incl 24th and 31st I booked morning appointments at a local Thai massage for face and foot massage. Didn't initiative any meetings at all and people knew I was doing radiation and didn't contact me. I have to say it was the best holiday season ever because I only did my radiation appointments and spent quality me-time doing only what I wanted to do, not feeling lonely even for a minute. Very therapeutic. This year I'd like to do the same, adding a 5K community run on the 31st. Speaking of creating new traditions)))))

      Thank you for sharing this with the Yerbba community! Your self-care and focus on what made you happy, especially during the holiday season, is inspiring. Creating new traditions, like the 5K community run, is a wonderful way to celebrate and embrace life. Taking time for self-care and doing things that bring joy are crucial aspects of navigating through difficult times, and your story highlights the importance of prioritizing your well-being. Wishing you continued strength, joy, and the creation of more uplifting traditions as you move forward on your journey.

    Thank you for this video. I just had surgery a few weeks ago, and will be starting radiation therapy for my breast cancer next week.

    I am recently diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and will be moving forward to what ever comes after. I am not depressed but I’m concerned because I have no financial support as my husband walked out on me a few months ago. I feel like a burden to my family who will have to support me and I don’t know what to expect. I may have to do surgery here in my country Jamaica. I lost my mom last year and I don’t want to die. I have to be praying and expecting a miracle from God . I have so much needs already and with this I feel so sad . If I do surgery I’ll be coming home to an incomplete bathroom and kitchen so this won’t be comfortable for me. I’m really praying for a miracle and I don’t want to be a burden. I do feel hopeful reading all your comments here. Thanks for sharing and may we all be well.

      We're truly sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing, and it's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed. A cancer diagnosis, especially coupled with your other tremendous life stresses, can be incredibly difficult. It's important to acknowledge your feelings and seek support. It's crucial to connect with your healthcare team and discuss your concerns with them. They can guide you through the treatment options and may be aware of local resources or support services available to you. Remember to take things one step at a time, and don't hesitate to lean on your support network. If there's anything specific you'd like to discuss or if you have questions about breast cancer feel free drop a comment.

    I want to add that many people think you're AOK once the therapeutic assault on your body is concluded. I can't get through to many people that I have a lot of healing ahead of me. You wouldn't say to a person injured in a car crash, "At least that car crash is over. That was the hard part." That would be nonsensical. But people can't wrap their heads around the injury suffered during breast cancer treatment and that it will take time to heal.

      You are 1000% correct. People want so badly for you to be well. They cannot see the fatigue, the sleep problems, the worry, and the other side effects that accompany cancer treatment and last beyond the actual days in the treatment center.

    Do the cold cap thats used during chemotherapy help with preventing hair loss?

    • @BeateSchierle
      @BeateSchierle 11 місяців тому

      Hi Tasha, a fellow patient of mine who was treated in Switzerland got the cap and kept her hair. As much as I hear, it must work in most cases. In Germany, you don't get it everywhere. I hadn't it and I lost my hair. It has nicely come back six months after chemo.

      Cold caps can reduce hair loss such that many people do not need to wear a wig. They are considered successful if people have less than 50% of their hair fall out. Check out our video on cold caps: ua-cam.com/video/CLCZgZpq8eU/v-deo.html
