Yes! And when is it ok to take a healthy baby out to church, grocery, etc.? I think some of my ppd with my first was from isolating with baby for so long. 🤦🏽♀️
We wish there was a magic formula for this, but we can most certainly try to tackle this topic as there are a few things that can help at least a little bit. We also understand that just isolating yourself is not easy and often not the best in the long run.
Both my 2-year-old and I have been sick for the past week. No fevers thank goodness but lots of nose-y troubles and coughing. Thanks for keeping parents informed!
For any parents looking for information about alternating Tylenol & Motrin, it’s at 15:50 ! Thank y’all for covering this. Has been so helpful for my kids with high fevers!
2024 has been the year of sicknesses for my family and I (2 young kiddos, one started childcare in May!) - we spent 3 straight months over our Australian winter being sick, and now the last 4 weeks have been rough again. My baby girl started childcare and then spent her first birthday in hospital being treated for 3 viral illnesses and a UTI that she developed from dehydration... Hydration really matters!! Hoping for a better year next year. Also I have really found that ibuprofen works way better than paracetamol for my kids, especially with a fever and just generally feeling sick, so glad you mentioned that and Im not crazy!
Thank you for spreading g the information on the importance of hydration even if it’s in the form of diluted juice or pedialyte. There was a doctor on TikTok/instagram that was yelled at for suggesting Pedialyte cause it has “loads of sugar” when a child is sick. The research you put on screen really helps backup the information you are stating, I wish more people will do some research before berating health practitioners online. ❤
This makes me feel better! My almost 7 month old has had a fever for 2 days, and he has been miserable. Im a new parent, and whenever he is sick, I want to take him to the doctors lol.
You guys are the best! ❤ I want to say that with your beautiful eyes in both, so much love and care in the family, you should make more kids 😊 I am prepping to be a mom, very nervous and need to learn a lot. Your videos make me feel safe and hopefully well prepped before the delivery 😂
Great topic!! It's that time of year, my youngest child has been home for two days with conjunctivitis😟. One product that I like beside kids liquid IV is those fever cooling patches, lol I wore them too last flu season they work amazing with the fever meds.
Would love to see a video on how to manage toddler coughing. Many respiratory infections always end up with a stubborn cough that just won’t go away. Thank you!
THANK YOU! We got that gastro big bad in my house, seems like my 9 year old came home with it first and then my 2 year old got it about 3 days later. I got it 5 days later and then both grandparents got it 3 days after that! My husband also got it in a different way lol. Just insane!! Washing hands out the wazoooo
Do you recommend any vitamin supplements to help combat flu season? There are so many on store shelf to choose from. What should parents be looking out for when buying?
Thank you do that advice! What about strenghten the infants/toddler’s immune system to avoid illnesses? Especially when the polder is on kindergarten? Could you play a video with some advice?😊
Do y’all have anything on constipation? My 9 month old is having a hard time. Breastfed and homemade solids. Mainly vegetables and chicken. Little water. We’re working on the water intake.
I was so hoping for tricks to get the medicine into them, if my kiddo has to take anything other than amoxicillin it’s a battle. We had to give medicine for croup a few months ago and we were only given one dose in tablet form (because last year we crushed the pill and put it in cream cheese and he took it no problem, this year he wised up to it, I lost the battle and had to go to the ER just to get the medicine in him. At least there they were able to inject it and I just had to hug him.
Check out the IRL section near the end. We share some of the different things we use to give medications by mouth. Pills or some medications can be very tough - sometimes you can ask the pharmacist for “better tasting” options. Hope this helps!
Dr. Bjorkman, if I give Ibuprofen, don’t they have to have something substantial in their tummy so it reduces the chance of stomach bleeding? But when my toddler child is sick with a fever, he doesn’t want you to eat, so what should I do or give him so that I can give him ibuprofen?
Having food in the stomach can reduce the chances of having gastric irritation from ibuprofen. For my kids, I will often try something as simple as a few crackers, bread/toast, or even given with some milk, but I don’t always give a snack for times in the middle of the night - as it’s a short-term use situation.
Pro tip: infant and children’s Tylenol have the same concentration, but infant Tylenol is much more expensive. You can buy children’s instead and just give them the dose for their weight. 😊
Absolutely! There is most certainly an easy chance for overdosing with ibuprofen as the infant’s formulation is more concentrated. We buy the children’s for both Tylenol and Ibuprofen to avoid confusion.
@@TheDoctorsBjorkman I accidentally grabbed concentrated ibuprofen at the store when I was in a rush once and didn’t realize it until I had already given it to my baby…I was mortified and felt like a terrible parent! Won’t make that mistake again!!
Can you do a video on how to protect a newborn from illnesses when you have a young child that is in daycare/school?
Yes! And when is it ok to take a healthy baby out to church, grocery, etc.? I think some of my ppd with my first was from isolating with baby for so long. 🤦🏽♀️
Yes please 😩

No fun! Hopefully you will both be feeling better soon.
Same here, only thankfully it was mostly just over the weekend. Good excuse for a couple of pyjama days 😅 Oh the joys of young children...

This was so reassuring, even for a seasoned parent. Thank you. And I wish we had a pediatrician at home!! Feel better Bo❤️
Thank you! He’s better now, but big sister has something new brewing… so it goes with multiple toddlers in the house.
This came on perfect time! My daughter has a bad cough and I was looking for relief and advice. Thank you! I love that you guys are back ❤️
So glad the timing works out!!! Hopefully this is quick illness and you stay healthy too.

Please talk about coughing, and when to worry. It seems that it takes forever for the cough to go away! Happy Holidays ⛄

I've had three overlapping illnesses now, it's hit me hard, but luckily not so bad for my 20 month old!
The back-to-back-to-back illnesses are SOOO TOUGH. Hopefully wellness is in the near future for you!!
Great topic!! It's that time of year, my youngest child has been home for two days with conjunctivitis😟.

Great point! There are sometimes nice environmental things to do that can help avoid the need for medications.
What fever cooling patches are those? I’d like to get some for my grandkids.
Hope this is not a stupid question, but is it possible to do a video on the different things to look out for when caring for baby boy and baby girl?
Would love to see a video on how to manage toddler coughing. Many respiratory infections always end up with a stubborn cough that just won’t go away. Thank you!
Thank you for mentioning Kawasaki Disease! I'm an RN now, but at 18mo I had KD (and know all too well how dangerous it can be).
I’d be a sub-par pediatric cardiologist if I forgot to mention this one. 🤓
Hopefully you are well, and thank you for being a great nurse!

So much hand washing!!! Hopefully you won’t have anything like this for a looonnngg time!

Could you please also make a video about febrile seizures

My 4 year old literally just started running a fever an hour ago this is fate😂
Hopefully it’s short-lived and you avoid it too!

How did you know there was a sickness in my house?! …. 😂
We are magic like that 😎🥳
