- This is a tutorial of basic aerobatics. Rolls, Loops, and Inverted flight. Please if you want to see a tutorial on any move leave a comment or private message me, I'm very open to ideas.
Good video learn learned a lot keep up the good work
age 57- brand new to RC, really like the control inset box and your narrative, thanks for teaching the old guys and great day !
I thought you were closer to 63! 🤔
Anyway, you're past the age where you can have fun, let alone play with an RC plane!
Excellent tutorial! I found the half loop transition to inverted flight less scary with my plane.
These are some of the best tutorials I've seen on RC flying on the net. Good work!
What simulator is this?
@@Mr.Laidukas I think it's Pheonix but not sure you can get it anymore. Might be available for Free somewhere on the web.
Absolutely superb .... clear instruction and useful teaching for learning and improving... Rob
This is one of the Few Good Trainer videos. highly recommend his vids..
If you are commenting that he didn't do a "Barrel Roll" and don't have a separate video where you demo how to do a specific barrel roll (vs a roll) then you are a jerk. Great video, thank you for the post!
I enjoyed this simple tutorial, and will be doing a lot of practice on my simulator. Just the notion of nosing up a little before a barrel roll makes such a nice difference. Inverted flight will be a challenge for a while. Like my buddy says, "Just don't pull back on the stick while you're inverted", especially when I'm too low to correct. Thanks for putting the time into this.
hey, I want to say thanks. i did my first inverted this morn after watching this yesterday
as well as good loops rolls .I am addicted!!
What a fantastic series - just what I was looking for! I found out about it on one of the R/C forums today. Although I am a pilot with 15,200 of jet flight time and have a degree in aeronautical engineering, it didn't seem to count for squat in this hobby which I find to be more than challenging. Just finished by first 10 flights (Super Cub S & Radian) self taught and had no crashes, built up an Apprentice yesterday to transition to 4 channel flight, and according to tracking, a T-28 will arrive tomorrow. Now I've got to run and practice what I just witnessed with my Phoenix flight sim!!
.nnhYyyt i🙁
What an impressive series. I just love those little hints on what makes each maneuver look cleaner.
I have an outdated version of Parallels on my Macbook Pro. I guess I'll be updating so I can add the Phoenix sim. I can now see that it's almost a requirement to learn 3D properly.
THANK YOU!
Clear and concise; thank you. I see you are at full throttle almost throughout these maneuvers. Is that a general recommendation for all aerobatics. I'm new and up until now I have never used more than about 60% throttle.
Hi tnx for your videos. Good stuff. Just one point. You refer to this as a Barrel Roll. Sorry, it's not. It's a simple roll. I used to fly aeros with a Cessna Aerobat and Messerschmitt Monson when I could afford to fly! A barrel roll is a lovely corkscrew motion. Pitch down, turn off 20 -30 degrees, pull up till wing level with horizon, put in aileron gently to start her roll, at the top wings should once again be level with horizon as you continue down to original altitude., take off stick and resume horizontal flight. This is a graceful manoeuvre and would be worthwhile showing to all we budding rc pilots. Once again thanks for your input on this fascinating and absorbing hobby.
Kinda a backhanded compliment......
Thanks man I flew helicopters mostly just getting into planes on the simulator now to kinda get hang of it. And I think I'm doin pretty well this helped with the basics.
Great video perfect explanation and simple to understand Thanks
Love the video. What sim are you using?
What a great video, just what my son was looking for thank you! 🙏
Thankyou for my first tutorial. I live in Jersey u.k what’s the most popular C.D simulator can you recommend. Barry
Thanks for this insightful tutorial!
I have a trick, I have no idea if it has an actual name but I call it whoopty loops. It's exactly like a loop-de-loop but when you get to the top or the Apex, Throttle Down and give full down elevator. When you do this the airplane moves backwards in the air at the top of the Loop and should come down just behind where it went up if you keep doing this the airplane stays in one spot.
The best tutorial so far! 👍👍👍
Nice Job. Excellent
So perfect thanks heaps for the video I just subscribed.
Your tutorials are just awesome! A lot of things are now clear. Thanks and keep up the good work! :)
good job
HAHA!!! I had no idea for the first few minutes that this is a simulator!! Well done!!
Very nice video! Need to go back to my simulator.... 😬
Thank you very much, it's very appreciated.
What rc sim is this, isn’t this that one popular one that is on computer and you use a real controller and stuff?
How about a split S right to left then left to right? Do you flip over at the top of the the loop? Thanks for your helpful videos.
that's good advise man, quite a while ago i was flying my acro wot, after only flying it one other time,i had the plane inverted and like an idiot i pulled down stick with the elevator which is backwards obviously, and she crashed pretty bad,so that kind of gun shyed me away from doing that again.
Nice videos. But min Agree with the the other comments, first exercise is an Aileron roll. Barrel roll is different and more of an advanced exercise.
Hi there, great video. I am going to learn a lot, I know it. New to this and flying a a friends H King Bixler-like trainer. Is the barrel roll possible with such a slow flyer?
Hello
Which simulator are you using, ia this a phoenix?Thank you
Thanks for your input bro. But, in all fairness. This is after basic flight and how to get up and down and around without and issue, everyone should have already learned that by now Haha.
I have a UMX Turbo Timber and have flown it twice. But I have a limited area to fly over a pond, maybe an acre worth. I have been doing slow flight with full flaps, getting used to the plane and transmitter. Was wondering how to initiate loops and rolls and your video made it look simple. I note you didn't use rudder, just ailerons?
Great video sir. I wanna get into the rc plane world. I already have rc cars and trucks but now I wanna fly. What do you recommend, buying a cheap plane and learn that way or start out with the simulator and are the controls of a simulator the same as the controls of a actual rc plane, I mean are the movements the same? Forgive me for asking these stupid questions it's that I don't want to wreck my new eflite a10 warthog 64mm. I know it's too much plane for a beginner but I have no plans to fly it until I've mastered the simulator and buy a cheap rc plane to practice with. Thumbs up on your video sir. 👍
Woah, 64 mm is tiny
I've a 480mm f6f hellcat
What do you think about the Sky Surfer from BananaHobby? I've been think of buying one. It would be my first plane.
good work! more of this please
Thanks for the examples very helpful.
Your videos are still the best learning videos available on the net! Any chance you do some more? I.e. rolling looping?
Which flight simulator are you using exactly?
wonderful video! just a question...I'm confused: the maneuver you called a barrel roll was what I see other pilots (meaning non-RC. You are, for sure, a pilot!) call a corkscrew and vice-versa. Am I mistaken or are they different in the RC community?
More please.
(All those criticizing.. post your own videos, maybe you’re better, maybe we can criticize you!)
Or maybe you should pay attention to those critics, who are entirely correct. Or do you think it's perfectly fine for someone to profess authoritative knowledge on a subject and then get it completely wrong? How would you feel if you learned this as a barrel roll then performed it at the field in front of people and said 'hey, how was my barrel roll?'. You would feel pretty dumb when they clued you in, no matter how nice they are about it. NOBODY is served well by the passage of incorrect teaching and information.
I bought one for my first plane. Disaster, too big. Get a Bixler 1.5 or 2.0. Great plane easy to learn with. Hope this is not too late. LOL
Excellent videos. I would like to see the technique demonstrated for doing a "show pass", also known as a photo pass. Thanks.
Very nice video.. what sim is that?
Hi
Please post videos on warbird landing tutorials
does it matther or you roll right or left? Or do you spin faster if you turn with the propeller? Or is there no difference?
Thank You, great vid. You make it easy!
Great job, thanks & keep them coming :-)
thanks man your tutorials are great
Can you show HOW TO DO A SPLIT-S on the transmitter. I know what the airplane is doing, just unsure about when to make the moves on the stick. Thanks for your help.
good vid. On Phoenix flight sim, if I am doing the roll but the plane comes crashing down, is it the type of plane that may be the issue? I'm trying to roll the Eflite carbon z cub but can't get it. Is this plane able to roll or am I doing something wrong. It never rolls straight. How do I know which planes can roll or is it trial and error? I assume all planes are able to roll. Am I right? thanks
this may be coming a little too late but still, all planes with ailerons can do an aileron roll (which he mistakes for a barrel roll in the video). from what you are saying i think you don't have enough speed for the maneuver or you aren't pulling up enough before it to compensate for the altitude loss during the maneuver. so yeah, the problem is on you, not the plane.
good flying o7
Hi, thanks for the learning, very nice flying!
I have a Revolver 60. and a Sbach 29% with a 60cc fuel engine, and I just crashed a foam trainer to no recovery so to say the least I can`t fly! But I want to learn how to.
What do you recommend I should do? Can you make a video with basic and a Aerobatics tutorial video with one or both models? I have no ides on how they fly!
did you end up learning?
Thanks. Appreciate your vids!!!
Do you have any videos on tight formation flying with RC? Are there any RC teams that practice close formation and aerobatics with RC Jets. I have yet to see any videos of tight formation flying (without any collisions).
thats actually not a barrel roll that is just a normal roll. In a barrel roll you pull down to a corner on the elevator/aileron gimbal (on mode 2 transmitters) and that makes the plane do a wide roll that resembles a barrel. thus the name barrel roll
Thank you, I am starting with a Flyzone Beaver 4 channel, and your 4 channel tutorial helped a lot. I notice on your Basic Aerobatics tutorial that you don't use rudder much in the air. Would that depend on the type of plane? Thanks again, Chris
Hi what Sim is this and does it work on a Mac?
To add to VoroRC, get the Apprentice S15E with SAFE technology. Best of all is the panic button which will recover from any situation to level light.
good flying. I find it harder to fly re than fa18s
I have the Real Flight 7.5 Sim. Any tips or experience with that one or are you locked into Horizon products only? Do you know how to load more models on the simulator or do I have to buy another product?
thank you very helpful
Hey Voro, would you recommend upgrading the DX5E straight to the DX6I when you get the sim or just keeping the DX5E
If possible, I would recommend the Dx6i without a doubt.
Thanks,
Voro
VoroRC Excellent series of tutorials Voro. I'm new to RC and your instruction (particularly the 3D stuff) is helping a bunch. WRT the aileron vs barrel roll comments, how about a tutorial that shows the differences? A well executed barrel roll is non-trivial. Perhaps a clover leaf tutorial as well. Thanks again.
Hey Voro, which one do you think is better Phoenix 4 or Realflight 6.5. I have the DX8 which I use on most of my planes.
I personally prefer Phoenix 4.0, but you can't go wrong with either.
Thanks
Voro
Thanks Pete
I have a bunch of RC warbirds and one 3D plane and the 3D plane isnt really good because the design is a couple years old so Im wonding if I could use one of my warbirds for doing things like this. Is it possible?
yep, I use a t28 Trojan
Thanks
Hey ,i would like to know what is the Simulator software you using ?
one more question , can i use my RC remote for the simulator or i need to buy a special one for the simulator ?
Hello,
This is the Phoenix RC Sim Version 4.0. It's a great sim, I highly recommend it.
Voro.
i almosed gonna ask the same question until i found yours... and coincidentally my first name is lawrence:)
You should show how to do spins and hamerheadss
What simulator is this?
Did it come with the remote control. Or I can use it with my rc plane remote
You can buy with or without the remote. The program is compatible with spektrum radios, futaba, JR and a few other brands. The cord that comes with it it is compatible with Spektrum and JR, if you are using futaba or another brand you may need to purchase an adapter cord (roughly $10).
Thanks,
Voro
Can you please help me with my rolls I lose a lot of altitude trying to do a roll how do I stop my plane from doing that btw I'm took your recommendation and am using the eflite apprentice I attempted my first ever manuever on expert mode low
Hi
I had the same prob, i put my ailerons to max, u need a lot of throw.
maybe do it on a duel rate , it will be a bit twitchy after. then voro says 5deg, my instructor said 30, I like somewhere in-between. need some speed to. then just follow what is said in the vid. up a little and full left or right till over.
hey man, can a trainer / cessna do hover? i dont know if im calling that right.. float nose up? how?
just bought a umx t-38 - 4 channel, in beginner mode she is straight and level
when I flip the switch to intermediate mode she immediately becomes nose heavy and begins to drop ....why ?
Just try and cg test the plane if it tips over on its nose its bose heavy you should add some tail weights
It is not a barrel roll. Its simple axis spin..
Was gonna say the same thing, but I think I'm a few years late to the party!
You need to update your video on the aileron roll not barrel roll. Navy Pilot retired and RC pilot IMAC 40+ years. I see other posts to the same maneuver.
hi can you do a salute(wing tilt)
Actually there's a LOT more to a roll. It's WAY harder than just jamming your aileron to the right. To maintain altitude and attitude, you must correct at every stage of the roll to get a smooth, level roll.
Start by Pointing nose up.
1/4- Use rudder (opposite direction of roll)
1/2- press forward on elevator (similar to maintaining altitude upside down)
3/4- Use rudder (same direction as roll)
4/4- easing out of all controls into level flight
Start by pointing your nose up slightly. Begin your roll. As you roll from straight, level flight, to having your plane at a 90* angle, you need to add rudder to keep your plane level. As your plane nears upside down, you correct by easing off of the ruder and applying elevator. When you're plane's completely upside down, you should be pushing forward on your elevator stick. As your plane transitions into a 3/4 turn, you then would be easing in and out of your rudder, but this time in the opposite direction than you used when starting the roll. Hope that helps. :)
I thought there was more to it.
When I tried a roll I nearly lost the plane as it just does not roll on an axis.
Like you say, the axis has to be fed in with rudder and elevator not just ailerons.
agree wit OldeMann,,, die ist keine Fassrolle (not a barrel roll)
Is he flying a real plane or is this computer simulator?
THAT'S AN AILERON ROLL A BARREL ROLL HAS UP ELEVATOR AND TURNS AS IF IT IS RIDING ALONG THE INSIDE OF A BARREL
if you wan a barrel roll turn your aileron in your desired direction and use the rudder with the opposite direction ( aileron:left rudder:right) then accompani it with slight up elevator.
can you show figure of 8
how about a rudder roll?
Hello, thanks for the question. I would personally stay away from BananaHobby. You can read online forums about them. But for a beginner plane I highly recommend the E-Flite Apprentice. You can find at just about any hobby shop and online.
Thanks,
Voro.
VoroRC what simulator did you use for this tutorial? And is it free? Thanks and good video really helped with my new rc plane :)
can anyone please tell me what simulator this is?
Phoenix 4.0
Thanks,
Voro
Way took much exponential on those ailerons .... For teaching rc.
“And it’s gonna be nice”
daora
Where's Knife edge slide? XD
Rolling harrier
loops "AND "rolls
sorry my friend but that it NOT a Barol roll
Ok your using F4U
That's an aileron roll
