Yeah he is the first guy I have seen make his own console for a new sierra. The only thing he should have did would have been to added the wireless charger and do an inlay of led strips to make it most practical
This here inspired me to use this giant 20ft log from a 140 year old water oak tree I cut down due to it was threatening to come down on my neighbors house. So I cut it down but left it in giant pieces to either make some tables or something the trunk it about 4 or 5 ft around. So it's got plenty of space to use. Gonna make a whole new center console for my f350 4door and do something similar. Great job Dan came out amazing

Hihi Bud UA-cam Succs... but in all seriousness, I think the way it works, when someone uploads an HD video (1080, 4K, 8k) the servers upload the video but it takes a small while to upload the full resolution. So I think it phases in the original video resolution within the first few hours of upload?

Most people who make live edge pieces remove the bark. It creates problems with your resin curing.

There are some things that I would have done differently for sure, but that's the beauty of these videos, IT INSPIRES ME TO BUILD MY OWN!!! That right there is what people dont understand when they start saying "you did this wrong bla bla bla" Guys, it's his truck, its his craft, it's his style etc. I love every minute of the design decision making etc. It gives us some insight into how your mind works and what you like and how it will end up. The finished product looks fantastic and I'm sure you'll love it regardless. Keep up the great work friend!

Hey Dan, I know you said you don't do much woodworking, but in the future (depending on where you live) look for Amish/Menanights for live edge slabs in the future. I filled the bed of my truck with live edge slabs for $30 vs, typically, over $100 for a slab from a typical wood supplier (lowes/home depot). Great job by the way! Can't stop watching this build.

Dan, this is the most badass truck I have ever seen. Only because you have made everything about it. It's not over the top with power, it's all DanMade custom. There are cars people have put thousands of dollars into and, while they look cool, are not anywhere near as badass as this truck is.
If possible, when you are finished, can you do a before and after of the truck? That would be amazing!

Just a quick tip. If you want to do some epoxy work like this in the future Stonecoat Countertops makes a casting resin that can be poured like 2” at a time. I’ve used it before and it works great
Never made a bumper, never worked with epoxy very bold. New challenges is is a wonderful way to live life.

Dan first off the lid of your center console turned out great, love it! I will say at first when I saw you strip off the bark I was like, WTF ARE YOU DOING! YOU WANT THE BARK ON THERE! The bark makes look like a shores of a river. But then I said lets see where this is going to go. I see with the stuff you added to the epoxy & gave it the peal like look & clouded it up some, you would never see the bark any way. But needless to say I think it came out freaking sweet, keep up the great work. Love what ya do, can't wait to the next episode.

Very cool! You should place your pistol mount to the bottom side of the epoxy. That way once you turn the lights on inside the console, you can see the outline of your pistol.

At my job, I am a solid surface technician. Pretty much work with the same type of materials to create large sheets that are used for shower walls in hospitals and colleges. Anyways, that is the exact science of the resin mixture. That actually looks like quit ea bit of hardener beeing used. Our general rule of thumb is 1% catalyst (9hardner) of the total resin (epoxy) being used, or yes the mixture will get extremely hot, really quick and even ignite itself! We done it before :D But, also, the thinner the poor, the longer the cure time takes, and vice versa, the thicker that it is poured, there is more material to create the exo therming properties, thus making it cure faster. The more heat, the quicker the cure time. Great vid!

Baking soda + super glue is a great way to cover holes in your wood. It cures really fast and you can just sand the excess down.

I think if you added the stuff to difuse the light on the LAST pour or 2 it would have still difused the light, but would also focus the live edge wood a bit better.
There are few youtubers who can keep their audience entertained for 30+ minutes, Dan here just says f*ck it and makes what he loves and its entertaining as hell.
Hey Dan if you ever want to fill dents like that in wood use the saw dust and wood glue trick to fill them and then sand. It actually works

I would say metal is easier to work with over wood and it's definitely more forgiving. Fucked something up? Weld build it up back. You fuck up wood, you have to go buy a another piece lol.

A neat tip would have been running led light strips inside of the epoxy on the bottom side of it and tucking the wires so it wasnt seen. Although a VERY nice job! Keep up the good work

Pro-Tip: you can use rubbing alcohol and even hand sanitizer to get sharpie off of wood. I've done it before. Works like a charm.

Hey boss. It probably cured and cracked so fast because it's not a 1:1 epoxy/hardener mix. And that's why you ran out of hardener aswell. Just my $.02.

You should wire in the center console LEDs with the headlight LEDs so they color change together. Just a thought
Dan next time you want to do something like that use a mold release wax on the stuff you don't want it stuck too, the 20 mins to apply it will save you hours, any epoxy or fiberglass resin
