You put in the training ahead of time, you did your best during the event, but recovering afterwards is what allows you to reap the benefits of all that hard work and sets you up for continued improvement down the line.

Ebikes are amazing, I got a brain injury after an accident 3 years ago and I suffer massively with physical and mental fatigue. Without my Ebike I would only be able to cope with a couple of miles before collapsing in a heap and feeling rubbish for a couple of days after. Ebikes still get your heart rate up and work your muscles.
I never thought I would cycle again but now I am out 3 or 4 times a week.

THIS is the real “other” side of racing/riding. Even us weekend warriors, have similar issues, and since we are not PRO athletes our “recovery” is usually longer and more painful. Great perspective. Thanks for sharing.

As far as MTB UA-cam channels go, my hat is off to you for being the best foodie MTB's. My wife never gets why I can down a whole 12USD burrito after a ride. She doesn't ride so not sure if she really understands. Can I make a fan suggestion? Maybe make a Sid&Macky cooks video? I'm not talking about super healthy food but post race lets jump into the melted cheese, carnitas and all that good stuff!

Will be on the lookout for the Syd & Mackie Cooking Channel. Appreciate the insight on the post-ride side of things. You don't often get to see what competitive mtbers get in to once the bikes are hung up. Syd, you handled that burrito like a champ! That was massive! Great to see a wide variety of meal choices, need that to avoid boredom with healthy eating. Another great share, thank you!

I love the montage of different trails in town. Highlights the diversity of cool technical trails. Bridges, walnut canyon, bayo, east fork, upper pueblo, school canyon, exploring in the Canyons, maybe some more I missed. I think exploring is my favorite part of a casual ride. There's a lot of "I didn't know this was a thing". Trying to ride down a deer trail down the side of a canyon can be some hilarious fun. There are some off of walnut canyon by the golf course (near the little bridge west of the 'bridges' access road).

I raced at the weekend down here in Western Australia. Did the 100km Karri Cup Mountain Bike race. Done it a few times now and getting better all the time. 100km, 1500mtrs of climbing & riding the best tracks through the forest. Think I burnt an extra 3600 calories for the 4hrs 34mins that it took me to complete.
I went for a short ride the next day, 24hrs later, just to turn the legs over and keep them moving, nothing too crazy.
You guys really need to do a little foodie video or two as well.

I know an individual that did a 3 day race with short track , enduro and the final day xc . She was back normal riding the next day . At 61 I ride 3 days a week . Maybe 15 to 20 miles and up to 2000ft of climbing . On days I go past my 20 miles I can be completely spent after the ride . A couple years ago I completely bonked and it looked over a month to recover from complete exhaustion and over doing it as far as my body was concerned . What you guys do is hard on the body . I equate it drowning . Not physically painful so much but your body in physical chaos and the limits it can handle . Mountain biking is the hardest sport I have done as I have done many of the ball sports . Surfing can be right there on big days . For me getting older I have to listen to my body . Sometimes I don't and it can cost me . Nobody is getting younger that's the reality . A balanced healthy lifestyle is key and that's what you 2 have accomplished .

The EMTB's are an amazing way for people to keep riding they have physical limitations, or are supposed to be recovering. Some bikes allow you to sync a heart rate monitor and target a bpm while the bike adjusts the power accordingly. I switched to an EMTB so I can "prehab" while I await a knee replacement. You can get as much of, or little of a workout as you like on an EMTB. Nothing cheating about riding a class 1 ebike. Now riding a horse, that's cheating - lol.

Some of the food you show looks so delicious. The fact that I just came back from a ride and am waiting for my half roasted chicken to warm up doesn't have anything to do with it I'm sure ;). But yeah you can really eat shamelessly if you ride a lot, making everybody else so jealous :D

A couple of riders were rider the same kind of E Bike on the trails earlier this month . I passed one and catched up to the next person . I was right on his wheel. We were going real fast . Could have pass him when reach on the top of the climbs. But it wasn't safe. But I had real fun behind that E bike.
Probably it can be use for pacing making in Training . We passed a lot of other riders .

My recovery is quite a bit different. Being a type 2 diabetic I really have to watch my carbohydrates. Carbs do equal energy so my recovery is a bit slower than most. I usually load up on high protein low carb shakes or pack in a lot of lean meat for recovery. Some carbs are good but I just can't over do them. It usually takes at least two days recovery before I can do any training. It definitely limits my riding time therefore my gains are slow in coming. I have to remind myself that I'm doing it for fun and that I'll get to where I need to be when the time is right. 👍

The protein we eat is going to break down into amino acids in order to form protein. If you eat amino acids instead of protein, you're already halfway there to building your protein. On the other hand, low glycemic index foods will make your energy more constant and last longer. That means low carb meals, or no carbs at all. You could give that a try 💪🤘

Ours is sourdough, but after making a fairly wet dough (slightly sticky to the touch) we let it rise for 3 hrs in the oven on the proof setting (100°F), then punch it, then let it rise for another 30 mins on the same setting, then pull it out and preheat the oven to 425° with the oiled dutch oven in the oven. Once it's preheated (generally about 30 mins for a total of 1hr second rise) we pull the Dutch oven, pour the dough in, cook for 40 mins, remove the top and cook for another 15 mins.

Well, mercifully there were only a few hundred comments before mine. I looked through them all and didn’t see the answer to your pondering. I don’t know if there is a connection there but care to wager a guess what the German word for pretzel is? Yep, Brezel. A German z sounds like tz.
