Also, if you're up for it, open up one of the fried PSUs and see if there isn't perhaps a fuse that you can replace to get it up and running again as I'd expect that level of protection from SilverStone.
Hey Gary. I was thinking the same thing about the pin out differences at first but she didn't use the cabling from the SilverStone with the Corsair unit, she just used extensions which have zero issues when using between differing PSU manufactures. Unless the cable extension had a crossed wire its just extending the preexisting cabling. I've heard some horror stories with the SX1000 though. I enjoy this video
I have most of the parts for this build. Except the 2 essentials that are impossible to find.. 5950 and 3090..
Not all custom cable work with all psus. This is common problem. I order custom cables with specific psus and never use different cables with different psus.
I used to dream of having a build like this but after spending time under my car, the last thing I want to do is have to get under the desk too!!
Lol that’s understandable! But you know the tinkerer in you would probably really enjoy it too
@@AndietheLab My current PC was quite a project build at the time I made it... for my next one though, I’m thinking an unassuming undervolted air cooled mini ITX pc.
To put it in car terms, I spent all kinds of energy and money tuning up a 4 cylinder to go fast... I think next time I’m just going to save a bit more to buy the V8😂
I love mini ITX builds. But yeah, totally get ya. But that K20 go brrrrrrr
those psu cables obviously are not meant to be used w silver stone psus......should have taken a continuity tester and mapped the pins out
I wish I knew how to! But yes, someone drew out the pin out and I get it now.
I don't know why companies won't make standard psu cables instead of these wacky pin layouts to prevent this problem. I'm sure this happens A LOT. It's pretty much the only pc component that is not standard
The supposed power outage looks sus to me. The background lights shut off one at a time, that’s not how that works.
Unless you’re an electrician I’d say you’re pretty sus too 👀👀 🤣
Good lord are you sure the cables are compatible with the PSU's you are using?!?! Don't hook anything else up before clarifying the PSU cables are compatible. P.S. the video quality and editing are top notch and miles above other videos.
Takes speial skill to toast two power suplies. Did you never think of testing thoroughly with a multimeter and power supply tester before connecting and powering up?
Three. She fried three of them 🤣
@@bosambo Yes indeed ! It was a total of 3! I realised this after I had posted and carried on watching. (shaking my head the whole time!) I almost began to think this was an April 1st joke..... I strongly suspect a case of wrong manufacturers cord in wrong PSU. BITWIT had a similar escapade a few weeks back and he was trying to blame the PSU but I think he had the same issue as this lady.
😂 I guess plumbing is not your forte. However I fail to understand how it was possible to pass the air pressure test and then have a leak afterwards.
And apparently also you don't understand that if a leak is present the first thing is to shutdown power supply , a leak and electricity present would most likely mean damaged components.
And using cables from different PSU!! Are you nuts!?? I think you are just taking the piss and showing everybody what should NOT be done.
The only thing I saw you did well as to spread thinly the thermal paste prior to installing the CPU waterblock. Many UA-cam videos show that done wrong.
6:50 ouch.
🤣
Most underrated tech tuber
I’m just subscribed learning from her to upgrade my water build and start building my own hope I don’t go through more than 2 power supplies 😂😂😂
@@snipe3627 I suggest going on corsairs customer water loop designer it's perfect for beginners
@@lpxpi you just give me some good tips, thank you I'm on it
PSU will just be a blown varistor, easy to fix, don't touch the caps
Wow! Thanks for that I was just about to throw them out
i just had my silverstone take a dookie on me after a month....had it RMA'd and a week after getting my rig going again....... BAM psu broke the smoke seal again. i'm over silverstone anyrhing
You never use cables from other power supplys, even if there the same brand.
Not all PSUs have the same pinout in their cables. You can't just swap PSUs, even with the same brand. You must ensure the pinout on the cables is identical or you risk shorting 12V to ground. Frankly, you're lucky you didn't fry the PC...
Damn she blew three PSUs because of using wrong cables.
Lightning quick test!
really good
good work
3 units is user error.
You didn't go back to the basics of the basics and dismantle your rats nest of a cable tangle, you've got a feedback or earth loop going on somewhere
First clue, the pump not working on the cablemod cables but working on silverstone.
Second Clue, cablemod cables work on Corsair but not on Silverstone.
Heres where reality hits you and you can no longer blame silverstone for your mistake.
For the 6 pin sockets, Corsair and Silverstone use a different pinout for the 3.3, 5v and Ground
Corsair
GRD 5 GRD
3.3 5 12
Silverstone
5v GRD 3.3
NC GND 12
Obviously, your pump isn't going to run when you invert ground and 5v, or 3.3v and ground, however this is not enough to fry the psu.
What killed your Units, is that Silverstone uses a significantly differently pinned ATX 24+4 pin connector, while Seasonic and Corsair use a more similar (but still different) 18+10.

Thor i.redd.it/hgjx48t6i6c41.jpg
Make no mistake, the Thor will kill something at some point on the corsair cables, but it won't immediately show issues like the Silverstone would.
Without a doubt. It’s all part of the learning curve. Thank you for the explanation.
Did you remove my comment or did UA-cam?
Weird.. I didn’t remove anything
@@AndietheLab apparently joking about Doug DeMuro is offensive to UA-cam.
I can’t even go look to allow it! That’s nuts
@Andie the Lab yep! This is ThatCarGuy 17 BTW, this is my alt.
@@AndietheLab my alt comments aren’t showing up on this channel :(
Yes. You can't use Corsair cables with a SilverStone PSU. And.... if you have a fully modular PSU, why ON EARTH are you using extensions?
Mistakes were made, lessons were learned. This is literally over 10 builds ago
Yeah. I know. But someone pinged me on it because now they're afraid of using aftermarket cables because of it. LOL
Kind of makes leak testing seem like a particulaly useful waste of time since you had TWO major leaks .....
Just use seasonic PSU and be done with it
Cool!
A video on what not to do. Thanks. Obtw ryzen doesn’t OC it’s RAM like intel
Yup! actually learned from my viewers which is great
you dont MIX PSU cabels
and cable exstenders only MORONS do that and Silversote is a good brand!
Yup, lesson learned - check out my recent stories for new builds
Ridiculous
Awesome build!! Overclocking is over rated anyways!
Oh no, my comment got removed :(
You look stoned AF lol!!
Nah, this is the look of filming for hours on end :)
