Hi Linus, you may or may not see this, but I’m here to thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me. I’m in quite a bad spot mentally at the moment, and I watch your videos everyday. I had an incident earlier with my mum and I decided to watch one of your videos. You’re such a funny and encouraging person and I rlly thank you dude. You’ve helped me through a lot.
A whole lot are these times. The cure has been worse than the disease, as people are under massive stress which leads to relationship issues, alcoholism, and worsened life expectancy.
I have spent sometime in cooling my aic 3090, the secret is to cool the backplate. Sticking a heatsink and a fan on the back plate. Even with asus 480w bios, my 3090 can stay at 70c with the stock radiator.
You guys should test blow vs draw through rad with fans, myself I run fans on back of radiator to draw a lower pressure vacuum through he entire radiator. Always wonder how much better or worse it could be
But he was talking about AIO not custom loops. Even in that video he said something along the lines of custom loops are better for quieter cooling and better for lower temps
You’re acting like it’s a big deal. 1499 isnt alot of money and I dont mean to disrespect the struggle but realistically it could be had. Unless you mean availability then just wait.
I don't know if Linus will ever see this but have you guys considered some sort of "waterfall" cooling setup. Much like one of those static waterfalls u see in fancy restaurants etc. Love the content. Think it would be an interesting video!
Fastest flow rate on the pump is not always best as it may not transfer heat as effectively in a low flow friction loop. This is also why the two 120 rads they tested were identical because the water had little time to transfer out of the loop.
Not true, I tested this extensively in my system and its false. Fast flow rate results in better temperatures overall every time, HOWEVER, slower flow rate increases delta between temps throughout the loop (I see as much as 8c difference between thermal probes after the GPU and after my radiator in my case) so depending on where you set up your thermal probes, you may think you're getting better temps but all you're seeing is a higher delta throughout the loop. Overall, running a pump faster always has a positive effect, albeit it's usually not a very large one past a certain point (depending on your loop and flow) and not worth it considering the noise I also found the advice that "loop order doesn't matter" complete BS in my small form factor build which reaches coolant temps of up to 50c. In that environment, delta can be as high as 8c as stated, so it's much better to have the CPU right after the radiator (CPU temps are more critical) and definitely not having the CPU after GPU
Good to know about the various rad sizes helping. I've decided to retain the FE look and not water cool my 3090 compared to Titan X Pascal prior, but it's still the coolest card I've ever owned! Usually seeing mid 50s on air, maybe 60, tops.
Gpu: *doesnt line up with the holes* LTT: damn looks like we’re gonna have to file this one Me: yeah a formal complaint to the company is probably the correct idea LTT: not the kind of filing I had in mind
Using the 3M Novec 1230 for submersion cooling would be a cool video. Boils at under 50°C so not suitable for replacing liquids in a loop (would constantly form bubbles and create pressure), but submersion would work great. It has an evaporation rate 4x of water though, so would need a sealed container, unlike oil. Would be an interesting experiment definitely.
@@evolutionxbox Yeah you would still need to have at least one pump and a radiator to get the heat out of the liquid, there's only so much you can soak into it even if you have a few gallons of it... =)
When the world struggling to find a 30 series in stock. Meanwhile: Linus: Today's video is about how to watercool my 3090 in my toilet water tank sponsored by Tunnelbear.

"How much cooling do we need for RTX 3090?"
NVIDIA: *yes*
You guys should test blow vs draw through rad with fans, myself I run fans on back of radiator to draw a lower pressure vacuum through he entire radiator. Always wonder how much better or worse it could be
Linus: Water cooling is only for noise
Also Linus 1 year ago: *makes video proving air cooling is quieter*
maybe for a cpu, but never ever for a gpu with over 350w. and just if you take a closed loop, never against a full custom loop .
But he was talking about AIO not custom loops. Even in that video he said something along the lines of custom loops are better for quieter cooling and better for lower temps
"oops I forgot to push and record, and spent a bunch of your money Linus"
Linus - "It's ok, you can do no wrong"
2:46 Shake that Alex. Something Linus could not confidently do without dropping. Great Video Alex!
I love how so many people watch this while 90% won’t even be able to buy one for the next 3years including me
Why am i here i have xbox😭😭😭😭
Lol is this a price joke or a stock one ?
Taps forehead
You don't need to worry about cooling a 3090 if you don't own a 3090
Iv gotta digital storm with a Ryzen 9 3900xt, Asus Stix and 3080 FE being delivered in 30 days
@@rtorbs both 🙁
Linus. Stop messing around with stuff most of us dream of.
We need to dream, otherwise, what's the point?
You’re acting like it’s a big deal. 1499 isnt alot of money and I dont mean to disrespect the struggle but realistically it could be had. Unless you mean availability then just wait.
I’m glad when he listed the reasons to water cool he put “looks” first. It’s so true. 😂
I don't know if Linus will ever see this but have you guys considered some sort of "waterfall" cooling setup. Much like one of those static waterfalls u see in fancy restaurants etc. Love the content. Think it would be an interesting video!
Although that could be done it would introduce significant air into the loop, which is highly undesirable
Overall, running a pump faster always has a positive effect, albeit it's usually not a very large one past a certain point (depending on your loop and flow) and not worth it considering the noise
I also found the advice that "loop order doesn't matter" complete BS in my small form factor build which reaches coolant temps of up to 50c. In that environment, delta can be as high as 8c as stated, so it's much better to have the CPU right after the radiator (CPU temps are more critical) and definitely not having the CPU after GPU
I'm too poor to even look at a 3090, why am I here
Same
Even if you had the money you still wouldn't be able to find one to buy.
I’ve been looking at 2060 supers. They look decent, with only
"175 dollars! That's enough to buy yourself a pretty decent GPU."
Oh, if only you knew...

Alex: Should we...
Linus: Yess!!!
Good to know about the various rad sizes helping. I've decided to retain the FE look and not water cool my 3090 compared to Titan X Pascal prior, but it's still the coolest card I've ever owned! Usually seeing mid 50s on air, maybe 60, tops.
Gpu: *doesnt line up with the holes*
LTT: damn looks like we’re gonna have to file this one
Me: yeah a formal complaint to the company is probably the correct idea
LTT: not the kind of filing I had in mind

"Best case scenario" pun not intended
"This number of fans is ridiculous"
Looks at my case slam full of fans
Great production this educate me even more then my online class 💜
I love the bubble removal technique at 11:14
May you make a video that cools a PC using 3M’s “dry water”?
Using the 3M Novec 1230 for submersion cooling would be a cool video. Boils at under 50°C so not suitable for replacing liquids in a loop (would constantly form bubbles and create pressure), but submersion would work great. It has an evaporation rate 4x of water though, so would need a sealed container, unlike oil. Would be an interesting experiment definitely.
I wonder what kind of heat density would be so bad that the part overheats in spite of the 3M liquid boiling?...
@@jubuttib I saw someone run a PC while submerged in it. It ran quite well, but a little hot as the liquid was not cooled
@@evolutionxbox Yeah you would still need to have at least one pump and a radiator to get the heat out of the liquid, there's only so much you can soak into it even if you have a few gallons of it... =)

lol... was just thinking about how many different 3080 and 3090 i have seen in their videos already...
Funny video it was. I have installed EKWB-block to my Asus rog strix RTX3090 and it works perfectly and block fitted as always, perfectly. I hate cutting thermal pads, otherwise installing block went quite easily. I use 2 radiators (35mm and 24mm) both with 2 fans. Overclocked to 2050MHz, card heats up to 66°C when overstressed using furmark-bench.
Alex: "I haven't been this excited to take anything apart for a really long time"

Someday Linus be like,"today we will be watar cooling this this ice"
Like seriously which thing you haven't water cooled 😂😂
Btw love your videos
1:54 thats indeed a best “case” scenario because its the best case in this scenario
everything about this video is amazing, except im really high and the backround music is way to disctracting.
