This took me back years ago when I was in Naxos and I witnessed baby goats being born in somebody’s yard when I was walking by. This was an incredible experience and the whole Naxos is a dream. I can’t wait to be back some day!
Not all of them have filotimo Helen. Perhaps you find the Greeks kinder, because you are a foreigner and in most cases they treat foreigners better than their compatriots. But if someone wants to to find out if a people is trully kind and friendly, they should try to associate and connect to the people of that nation. Just a ''hi, how are you'' does not show much.

I love visiting Greece, but couldn't ever live there, neither could my husband. There will always be issues, but , for the most part, they treat foreigners very well, they need their $$

We live in Kassiopi (Corfu) for 8 months of the year during the season as we have 4 apartments there, we rent 3 out and live in the other one. We love life in Greece, but also love to come back to the UK in the Winter where we also have a house and where our 2 sons live. You must visit Kassiopi if you haven't ever been, it's beautiful

When I saw you having the Greek yogurt and honey it made me smile. We were in Naxos in June/July and I had Greek yogurt with fruit and honey every morning! We have been going to Naxos every year since 2015. I’m Greek and my husband and I got married there at the small church in St. George. Our wedding planners are also Canadian/Greek and live in Naxos. We have met so many wonderful people there who are now our friends and look forward to going every year. Enjoy your time there. How long will you be there?

Small Greek churches are built by the family on the land they are built on. But legally when a family builds a church it then becomes a public space, meaning you can go unto any church in Greece. Love your videos guys.

The iconic red shades 😎! Greek legend has it that some UA-camrs ventured into an abandoned resort and were never seen again…until the next day joyriding around in a red Fiat 🚗 😆! Speaking of UA-camrs, it seems that there’s another travel channel to check out. I also eat beef on the rare (no pun intended) occasion but, I must say, my face would right in and devouring that huge serving of Moussaka 😋.
If you want to indulge in something creamier in terms of yogurt, definitely try the full fat Koukakis farms Greek yogurt. Was my favorite in Greece and so happy I can find it in select places here in Spain as well. A taste of home.
Moussaka is one of our favorite meals in Greece. I've even made it a few times at home since our 1st trip to Greece in 2010. Of course, just like your yogurt & honey, it tasted much better there.....lol. Love the beautiful beaches on Naxos, and especially that they are quiet. We much prefer the shoulder season pretty much anywhere we go. Love also how you started the video 😎😎. - Coreen

The sea temperature 🌡️ in Greece is never under 15 degrees celsius.and in the summer it is up to 30c. So yeah compare to the tropics it is very doable but not comparable.
@@DelightfulTravellers hope to be in Greece late June / early July. Am usually there every second year, but covid killed that idea. Naxos is lovely. My favourite parts of Greece are the less touristy islands though. The ones that are hard to get too. I can name a few, but not on UA-cam.

I enjoyed this video and seeing you explore the sights from Plaka Beach and south that we also enjoyed in September. We also enjoyed our two-week slow travel in Naxos after a hectic seven-day cruise around the Greek islands (check out Celestyal Cruises). If you enjoy wild beaches search for Amitis Bay north of Chora. You'll probably see the photos that I took of the Blue Ocean Tropical Bar which just opened this past June. It's probably closed now but next spring you can meet John and Shirley who built the bar and who are from the Netherlands.
Off course there are plenty other villages on the island. If you manage to book an island tour with a guide, I bet you’d be surprised what a gem Naxos is. I recommend doing guided tours on almost every place in Greece since there is so much history to get in touch with. Wish you guys a great time 🫶🏻
Filoti is literally the least impressive of the mountain villages, with Apiranthos being the best one and Chalki coming second. It does have a lot of things to do though, since there are many locals living there, mainly because it's the largest of the mountain villages.
I am glad you liked Naxos.. I wish my experience was as positive as yous but unfortunately it wasn't. i was there in August for 4 days. my second visit after 5 years. Basically the island had no significant changes over the years it just got more expensive.and the food quality got from really good to.. ok? The memories i will keep from my visit are that we got sick from bad food and got scammed to pay double the agreed rental for the car we rented. But as we say in Greece: Παμε για άλλα. PS: Haloumi cheese is from Cyprus. Traditional saganaki is made with kefalotyri cheese. The Naxian cheese that comes close to that in taste is Arseniko. However saganaki basically refers to the method of preparation (fried in a pan) which means that you can make saganaki wiht almost any (hard) cheese. Cheers and enjoy your trip!!!!!
Great video guys, can you get vegetarian moussaka in the restaurant you visited please? I am vegetarian. When I was a meat eater I thoroughly enjoyed eating Stifado in Rhodes town, essentially this is beef casserole/stew with red wine, shallots and spices.
cutted cat ears in Greece = can't get kitten anymore. Which is so so important for the cats. At some islands you can see if it is a girl or a boy because of the side of the ear. At other the have different cuts for. I am surprised that at the end of October there are still so many sun loungers at Plakes and even restaurants are still open. I would not have expected this. I only know the beach from June and September. very interesting time there
You should also add walnuts in your yoghurt + honey. Yes, local homey tastes differently in different places. In smaller touristy places like Naxos, it's quiet outside the tourist season.

You guys have to visit the villages on the island. Filoti is probably the most impressive where there is still alot going on during off season.

greek yoghurt in Greece is sheep milk…. that is why it tastes different than in North America. and honey from Greece-no explanation needed❤️❤️
Greeks like to add egg to their bechamel. This makes it a little more stable and dense compared to Italian bechamel.

I lived in greece 15 years, some areas are fine but south poleponnese for instance are occupied by nazis still so many years after ww2

West Turkey is better and cheper than greece plus hotels are more comfortable with t service!
