7:35 I probably see a missplay here... Dark illusion instead of kycoo. First to negate the backrow... And secondly to have lethal! Rod tributes the DM. Rod searches for circle. And circle will summon a DM in the gy thanks to dark illusion. Instead he just has a useless kycoo.

Currently I am almost done with building a top tier Blackwing deck without spending any money in to the game was is a total waste or are Blackwings still worth it?
BW are still pretty good. They've been around now for a while now and are still solid.
Quite a large investment but yes Blackwings still clap those cheeks. Tier 3 I think was it?
I can never get into black wings. The biggest factor in me picking what archetypes to use is how they look (that’s just how I am). Black wings look like nerds in poorly made crow fursuits, couldn’t be me.
It’s insane to me that this game continues even years later. How is every game not an instant otk with this many cards and so few lp?
Because both players have equally as unfair decks, giving both players a shot with their strategies
Well the potential of doing an OTK is higher than the TCG because people have created a lot of good combos,but the downside is that you need to have a very good/perfect hand to execute the OTK. And also here you have less cards,less monster zones than the TCG and less LP.So in my opinion.It's logical that the LP is halved and the monster zones are limited to 3.If the monster zones were 6 the amount of combos will be so great that the chances of OTK exceed to 95%+ and you will dump 3/4 of your deck to the grave.
Edit:Also the starting hand is smaller than in the TCG.
The traps are still broken, thats how. Also there are some decks that win by outresourcing (Invoked, Aromages and Darklords) so games are not always super fast when you play against them (only one of those is top tier though)

BAM another ivoked semi-limited monster (nothing changed in the gameplay,still a engine for a lot of decks).
There is almost nothing that can stop invoked monsters (except probably limiting invoker and invocation).
Darklords were pretty good but Konami fucking destroyed them,destroying their engine of Ichxel and resourcing to using a pure Darklord deck with limits to it,or a lightsworn/darklord mashup wich sort of revived the deck.
Aromages weren't the best deck and aren't that much closer to being a top tier deck,yes,they have a lot of new support with continuous traps/spells which if they have 3 continuous spells/traps on their field activated,they can be a solid wall to beat over and you should expect a lot of barrage from their spells/traps with the combos of their monsters which have LP gaining effects.
Lightsworns a deck that has recently been released.The deck on it's own isn't that good because it lacks consistency,but if you mash it up with other archatypes (Darklods,Shiranui,Blue eyes) it will become a really good deck.So basically to summon lightsworns into one sentence,they are an engine/structure deck.
I have morbid curiosity with this game because it breaks alot of things I took as rules in good game design yet is still played

If you have a rod and a circle in your hand always use your circle first so you can search whatever is left to get your magician out. Circle searches itself, illusion magic, dedication through light and darkness, Dark Magic Expanded aswell.
They need to change no mortal can resist cause playing against someone who uses it every turn is annoying.
They should change it so that they can only use it if they have 1000 or less LP remaining. That way it can still be a comeback skill and not reliant on a single cosmic cyclone.
Having a skill based on the LP difference between you and your opponent just seems silly.
Graveyard deck is annoying af too

I just went back to the game and got the starter deck with the ritual dark magician and from there i start building it and i gotta say the deck i use currently is soooo much better then the deck i used when duel links was on their infant stages

The reason why Eye of Timaeus is not searchable by any of the dark magician related support cards is because it does not SPECIFICALLY list the card “Dark Magician” it lists a “Dark Magician Monster”, which is honestly the stupidest ruling i’ve ever heard, and idk why they dont erratum it
@5:20 I wanna point out that Dkay'd actually misplayed here, he did things in the wrong order here by using circle first, he should have: 1) played rod searched illusion magic, 2) used illusion magic to thin the deck for 2 DM, then 3) played circle to add a card and put the remaining cards on the top of his deck in any order - by playing circle first and then rod he made the second benefit of circle pointless since the rod search shuffles his deck now, circle should almost always be used last if you have both it and rod in your hand.
Circle would have been useless because navigation shuffles the deck anyway.
The missplay at 7:36 is more important.

8/16 which is 50% to search with circle if used first.
7/15 which is 46.6% if used after rod.
Rearranging the top 3 is important incase Nav gets banished then you can still know whats coming next

ishizu have been always a better host for dark magician deck then yugi ... before with the sealed tomb skill and now with no mortal can resist ... konami needs to revisit her skills strategy
Only skill you need actually is a skill that just prevents your opponent to navigate and negate your own navigation on their turn. They played sealed tombs (if you didn't it was a straight up loose) but now it's nerfed so they play nmc
Nmcr doesnt deal with navigation in their grave though, it just deals better with LS and Shiras

I think everyone expect more different composition for Dark Magician deck to counter many another optimized deck...and personal dark magician deck is still lose againts cyber dragon, desperad dragon, black wing, and lightsworn deck...Its just personal opinion, and then if we just only rely to navigation to summon dark magician than using like curtain or magic veil its Will make this deck is really vulnerable...and once again its just only personal opinion
Sometimes Dark magician deck need to summon dark magician in our play turn not in next enemy turn...

That's the biggest weakness of DM, we have to set then pass in order to summon, if our navigation gets cosmic cyclone'd then we most likely lose the duel... we need a card that let us summon DM on our turn like DM curtain or veil but better

While Dark Magical Circle broke the deck, we all know Komoney won't hit it. SO, if that's true, the best possible hits would probably be to put Magician's Rod to 2 and Magician Navigation to 3. Using this deck as an example, that would erase both Treacherous and the Cosmic Cyclones, which would probably still not be enough (because Circle is broke), but it's at least a step forward.
More honestly, Treacherous and Cyclone should just be banned outright. Almost every single top tier meta deck uses them until the banlist 3-limits and 2-limits things so that they can't. There's almost never been a time where both cards weren't top tier in whatever could play them. Granted, even banning both wouldn't be enough to handle how stronk DM is, they both have no place in Duel Links. The fact that SO MANY SKILLS are used BECAUSE Cyclone triggers them again proves how broke it is, that skills have to effectively be balanced AROUND Cyclone, and anything that's "if your LP is 3K or less" means Cyclone is basically an auto-include for the trigger.

So Ritual Beasts was a deck that used Treach a lot back when it was meta. Its main card ELDER was limited to 2 which meant that Konami did not want decks that already have a way of removal to play Treach. So now a deck that quite literally locks your opponent up turn one and wins next turn is playing treach I will only expect Konami to put a stop to this. Unless of course they want to make The Worlds meta revolve around Degenerate Magician and Blue Eyes which will raise the chances of a cutscene unlike last years tourney.

Only happens miss timing if you chain Navigation on chain link 2 or above.

This can be countered with Magician Girls. Open with BMG. BMG to KMG is the combo that'll prevent your cards from being selected. Also works great against Cyber Dragons as well.
DM Can also be somewhat countered by lunalight just gotta get saber out fast not a hard counter but atleast it gives you a decent chance
@@sylvian12eaper2 I have yet to see that. Lunalight is getting very predictable. But I have lost to a few decent players who did a Lunalight hybrid deck. Going pure is very hard nowadays, but somehow certain players get such great consistency that I think they could be botting.

If your opponent knows what you are doing its pretty hard to win with lunas. Their OTK literally loses to any well informed individual, and the rest of the deck is weak against any form of disruption. Sabre dancer is an autowin against DM and most out of meta decks though
floodgate, fiendish, sphere and etc will fuck lunalight out of the game.
Slow and you need pierce or atk position monster to target
Good ol defense position and it stops the deck.

No, that belongs to blue eyes and esabers.
Blue eyes is barely tier 3 rn. DM pairs well against the two best decks right now, those being shiras and ESabers, but gets destroyed by the other tier 1 deck in Thunder Dragons and has bad matchups against the rest of the entire meta
Try running Arkana with that skill that targets a level 7 or higher spellcaster type monter

I just hit King of Games using a Dark Magician deck combined with Dark Cavalry
Rod to 2 will reduce the toxic first turn consistency. And would not severely hurt a fan fav deck..would also take out treach and econ. But right now D.magician with the Nmcr is simply toxic..as powerful as BEWD has been it has never been toxic.

@@rovad55 I don't know what deck are you playing, but I played this exact deck minus the Kyco (because I don't have one), and easily bricked half of the games.
It has degenerate plays, but it's not as consistent as people think. Many games I opened 1 or 2 Dark Magicians in hand, maybe Circle and Cosmic, only to see that the next draw was a Magician's Rod, and die next turn because I was practically 1 turn behind.

I was playing 30 card shiranui before they got banned (they were also disgusting) so now im trying out various decks (lightsworn, blue eyes, orcust, dragunity) but the problem is that there are way too many cards im missing, i have to open lots and lots of boxes before i build a competitive deck, but as soon as i finish it, the next banlist will kill it or new better decks will appear
@@rovad55 Magician's Rod cannot be added by Dark Magical Circle because it only adds Dark Magician and Spells or Traps that include Dark Magician in it's text.
You either draw it first hand or pick a god and pray you can top deck something to complete the combo with Circle.
I also had duels against some Dark Magician players that bricked hard on turn 1 and won because I didn't brick as hard as they did. Those were the easiest wins for me by far in the KC Cup.
This crap is why I block dm players on sight.

Still instant losing to Sabre Dancer/Cocytus. DM has nothing that can non-target remove stuff or beat anything over 3.1k attack/defense. I don't get how this deck is still top tier, its so easy to play around it lol

It's not a useable deck anymore, they put limiters on treacherous trap hole and magicians rod, im new and just got all the cards to realize I can't use the deck :(
