I have a childhood friend who was born in Africa. They would tell me stories of baboons breaking into their house and eating their produce as well as “rain spiders” who would also invade after every storm. So different from the nature of the upper Midwest. (Except the spiders… in winter our house becomes the warm overwinter hangout spot for all our local spiders. Wolf, yellow sac, fishing, recluse, etc.)
@@MKRex Its possible they as a child never asked them in what part of Africa, second it sounds that way to ya but can just be taken as I said "Maybe they didnt know, plus the point comes across" as it is one of the continents just as many refer to American friends as coming from North America or the U.S. lol.

It's really nice that you talked about the recently classified Kinda Baboon, but it would've been better if you mentioned the extinct Dinopithecus, also known as the Hella Baboon.
underrated video, you have the potential to be the next tier zoo or sam o nella. the jokes are pretty funny, tricking the baboon the firs time with the banana especially. my only suggestion is to lower the amount and especially the volume of the animal noises.
I think it's so funny but also sensible that since they don't wear clothes, baboon just evolved a hard butt to sit on instead of making pants + chairs. Honestly quite the chad move. I feel like a padded ass would help a lot of people out.
For me i was very intrigued to find out that the baboons here in South Africa are only ones that live in the rocky mountain areas! Thought it was like that for all baboons.in Afrikaans we even have a song about it.Their favorite food stealing places are picnic areas near their home. I grew up being taught to never get close to them or their territory for obvious reasons. We recently had a big country wide plight to get a specific baboon male back to his original territory after he was removed for "safety reasons" except everyone living near him loved him and respected his space. Also RIP Mr Museum.
A little story from my experience with baboons. My family are from south africa and where my grand parents lived had baboons everywhere, like stray dogs but more annoying. One time while my grandma was sitting on the porch with my neighbor, my neighbors chihuahua broke off of its lead and chased a male baboon, the baboon picked it up and literally ripped it in half;
I think of the ape family, orangutans have to be my favorite, because they're such friendly, dopey apes. All wild animals are dangerous, but orangutans will often help humans they see in dangerous places. For example the orangutan that tried to save a wildlife ranger from the pond full of snakes he came to exterminate for the orangutans.
orangutans are kind of amazingly bad at moving, they look like some other ape combined with a sloth. their babies are very cute, they look like little hairy homers.
Could be worth noting that, as with other animals, these social behaviours are learned and can change depending on circumstances or the environment. There is a Baboon troop known as the "Garbage Dump Troop" that, after the most agressive males, successeful at getting the best food from the garbage dump, died of tuberculosis from eating tainted meat, the remaining Baboons had an enormous social shift, with the less agressive males even engaging in grooming behaviour and so on. Males coming in from other troops were taught this behaviour, and the social atmosphere continues even without any of the original males present!
Thanks again Buddy! I was kinda hoping you might have been able to explain WHY Baboons have such enormous canine teeth? As you know, some folks are afraid of spiders, snakes, etc.Well... I have a significant discomfort (not so much a fear but yeah, fear) of Apes. Especially Chimps. They REALLY creep me out for some reason and pictures and videos of Baboons, with those Lion like canine teeth sure don't help matters. I understand they use them as part of their fight for dominance and being omnivores, I'm sure they also come in handy for dispatching live prey but usually, evolution requires a bit more incentive than those two side-benefits for development. I mean, these teeth are HUGE!!! Also, no other primate has such enormous teeth (per body size). Is there some ancient relative that made good use of them ? (anyone know?) Thanks!
Ok I gotta say I love the video first off but since I watched it when it came out,it has been popping up in my recommended for three weeks. I see it when I close my eyes and I swear I see it when I walk around at night. This video refuses to leave me alone and I’m scared.
I super appreciate the humor and effort you put into your videos, have been watching through your content the past week here and there and it's always a joy. I noticed that "infantile" comment on whatever video, and it is so misguided and humorless a take on your material. Infantile, to me, is stuff like Tierzoo and Ze Frank that clearly have tons of views from kids, where one can't go 10-15 seconds without a meaningless videogame analogy or painful to listen to sex joke.
@@miquelescribanoivars5049 But I mean, blue is a weird color in nature. You barely see it, specially in mammals. There's a whole video talking about its rarity in UA-cam. Why not pink or other colors? It seems peculiar

Good news is he raised from the dead to post it. Dedication and humility to still post after that likely traumatizing and humiliating moment.

Can confirm, live in South Africa and have seen not only baboons but smaller monkeys climb in through people's windows.
Try to avoid generalising, Africa is not a country. Be specific, name the exact country, saying "in Africa" sounds lazy and racist.

I took a primatologist course and a huge section was baboon’s, and you nailed most of the points I learned about in that class. Awesome work, dude!

the Orang is the most civilized of all apes.
Gorillas also are cool. They won't harm you unless you don't pose a threat and just make sure by body language you don't want a confrontation.
