You might have put the wrong title on the video. Why not say to avoid any Buffalo Trace product? I generally agree with you but the reason that the Buffalo trace whiskeys are so pricey is because they are uniquely fruity and lack that peanut or banana quality that every other large distillery has. Larceny is a wheater sure but it is miles apart flavor wise. Here’s the thing about hype, it’s there for a reason. Overhyped sure but any Buffalo trace whiskey at MSRP is a buy.
I work in a liquor store in Bardstown Kentucky & that statement that you made I disagree with completely: hype hype hype! There are many better whiskeys than the Buffalo Trace status symbols...
@@MarkHicks326 if love to be wrong. The only things I’ve had that hold a candle to stagg and 107 are disco 11 and Joseph Magnus. Both are 2-3x more expensive. So what should I be buying because I’ve had everything in this video and I’d still buy the Buffalo trace prices (except BTAC and pappy) that is hype when stagg and 107 simply exist

Interesting video. Agree with the general message: STAY AWAY FROM HYPED MSRP MULTIPLES. I wish some of the more popular You Tubers would preach this message. Making alternative suggestions is always tricky business, but I think age and proof need to be matched as closely aa mash bill. For example I would substitute the Calumet 16 for the Pappy 23 instead of the Weller Full Proof. To me the Pappy and Weller offer totally different experiences. Thanks for the vid!

I’m not necessarily for price controls across the board, but a lot of stores are now the ones setting the secondary market prices it seems-by charging secondary market price. That is capitalism for sure, but the market can only sustain this for so long and the bottom is gonna drop out. That’s gonna leave the stores and distilleries in a world of hurt when they have products they can’t move. The $20 bottles will sell all day everyday, but these high mark ups will sit.

at msrp pappy worth it. and yeah not really valid argument to use secondary price for one item and then use msrp not secondary price for the other comparable item.... to justify why paying secondary price for first is not worth it. you should compare secondary to secondary. or msrp to msrp. doing it one time maybe ok but when you repetitively do this fake comparison then it is unacceptable. comparing Blanton's to four roses is no where near the same flavor profile. cocktails with george t stagg. enough crap

Love Garrison Brothers... chocolatey goodness! Join our Bourbon Community...use the link in the comments! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
In my opinion all of these would be worth having at MSRP. I don’t believe anything is worth paying secondary for. Unfortunately some of you recommendations for alternatives are just about as hard to find in my area, like any Weller products. I have yet to see any on a shelf at any store in my area.
Distribution is state by state. Unfortunately, some states are harder to get product into than others but all of these should be found in the wild at times...allocation time. I realize some of the suggestions can be hard to find...I empathize. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!

I got Eagle rare for 30 and got 4 bottles yes it’s good but certainly not worth anything over msrp. Most of your picks are pretty good and worth looking for however the gimmick whiskey like Jefferson isn’t worth getting period. If you can find a cask strength AE you should try it but don’t over pay for any bottle ever!!

Informative video, good detail and it's nice to have some suggested alternatives. Just a note, I'm.not having trouble finding Eagle Rare 10 year for $48-58. It's good but Knob Creek 9 year, Rare Breed and Woodford Reserve Double-Oaked are better IMO 🥃🥃
Tastes vary and availability varies greatly by location. There has been quite a shake up in the distribution channels and they are state by state. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers at www.skool.com/schoolofwineandspirits/about. Cheers!!

I bought my old roommate a bottle of Blanton's single barrel as a birthday present a few years ago specifically because I knew it was his favorite. I got a glass as a thankyou, and must say it didn't seem worth what I paid, though I am far from a tasting champion or perfectionist. Twas good, but I was underwhelmed. I guess I was not the only one.
Good asterisk at the beginning and end, though: the best bourbons are the ones the drinker likes the best 👍
Hey Owen, yes, everybody has a different set of tastes. And they change from day to day, week to week, month to month. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!
Saying benchmark is similar to eagle rare is insane. I can drink eagle rare straight, I can hardly drink benchmark even if it’s mixed with something.

You might have put the wrong title on the video. Why not say to avoid any Buffalo Trace product? I have yet to pay secondary for any of these products but I have tried BT, Eagle Rare, and Blanton's and in my opinion they all have a unique flavor profile and are all really good which makes them a good buy at MSRP any day of the week. I do agree with the Four Roses SiB being a good option and I like it a lot but Blanton's is just above it so still a good buy in the $60-$70 range to enjoy on limited occasions.
You have a point on the name...it does pick on BT. But, the engineered scarcity kinda deserves it. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!

Weller full proof for $50?
Benchmark replaces Eagle Rare?

Love this video for people who are getting into the game. The manufactured scarcity as you put it, from the Buffalo trace distillary is pretty disgusting and appreciate you calling it out.
I know, right! Those 84" column stills are operating 24/7. Why don't they release more corn squeezin's? Thanks for watching! We're building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description! Cheers!
GTS is the goat. Will pay up to 350 for it. Only one I have I got at msrp in a bundled basket

A great video, I've been in the bourbon game for over 50yrs and never have fallen for these over hyped, expensive fancy bottles with sup par bourbon in them. And don't get me started on FINISHED products 😉 Cheers 👍🥃 * Don't see how people are so easily FOOLED 😒

I agree that Buffalo Trace has great whiskey, but the engineered scarcity drives the price up, as well. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!
The hype is driven by the scarcity, in my opinion. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!
Weller full proof goes for $250-$350 where I’m from. Not worth that at all.

Your pricing is great. Blanton’s at msrp in my area is $85. At msrp I’d buy GTS but that will take a miracle. Years ago I had Jefferson’s ocean cask strength and it was good when it was $80. I got a lot of salted caramel.
Jefferson is trash
Everyone has different tastes. BT whiskey is undeniably good but their engineered scarcity is just annoying. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!

Cooper's Craft at $31-33, 100 proof & smooth.

OK, you're correct. It is worth it. Valid point. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!
OK, you got me. At MSRP, I would buy it every day. If you're interested in learning more about everything in this video and more, click the link in my bio to join our community. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Totally agree. In the past, the distributors policed this and would yank distribution if a retailer was marking up prices. Doesn't to be happening as much since the distribution shake up. at msrp pappy worth it. and yeah not really valid argument to use secondary price for one item and then use msrp not secondary price for the other comparable item.... to justify why paying secondary price for first is not worth it. you should compare secondary to secondary. or msrp to msrp. doing it one time maybe ok but when you repetitively do this fake comparison then it is unacceptable. comparing Blanton's to four roses is no where near the same flavor profile. cocktails with george t stagg. enough crap
Fair criticism. Everyone's tastes are different and everyone's preferences will vary. I will pay secondary if I really want something. Just not every day. Thanks for watching! We are building a community of bourbon lovers...join us using the link in the video description. Cheers!
