    The way i learned aerials is by sitting down putting my elbow on my knee and making sure it stays there. it makes it so that you not only have to throw it straight but you will only be focusing on the momentum of your wrist rather than your whole arm. it may not help you but the first time i tried it i landed 4 aerials in a row

    what do you do when you get cut and the cut is in the way of flipping?
    for example I just did the dumbest thin ever and I started a Chaplin with the wrong handle (I was so sure it was the safe handle) and I did a full spin before realising that I had cut all the way around my finger and I had to stop flipping for more than a week so my index would heal😅

  • @akshayy_xd
    @akshayy_xd 7 років тому +2

    Ok, serious question, I'm really starting to get into balisongs, but can't get one here in my country.
    A friend is coming over from the States, and I was wondering what is a really good trainer to get that will last atleast a year or casual flipping/learning.
    Preferably something cheap (Under 60$) like that dragon trainer or something, could you link one please? The one that has lasted you quite some time, and flips well.
    Or maybe I should buy multiple of some cheap ones instead?

    • @BigFlips
      @BigFlips  7 років тому +3

      to be completely honest in my experience any knife under $200 will not last over a year of consistent flipping. even that trainer that i said lasted me a year of moderate flipping a few times a month just had the tang pin fall out last week and it was like $80. that was the bear and sons bear ops trainer which is definitely alright.
      Here is my recommendation when getting a cheap knife: make sure it has one piece channel handles, adjustable screws, and a spring latch. in general channel handles are strong and wont break if you drop, adjustable pivots can be adjusted when it gets sloppy, and a spring latch will stay out of your way when the handles become too loose for the latch to work.
      everything else for the most part you can fix usually the tang pins need to be smushed or screws need to be replaced which isnt too hard.
      Mega knife is actually sending me some knives which fit the bill perfectly and look awesome. click my affiliate link in the description to support me and check them out.
      Basically if you are going to get something cheap get something that looks cool and know it wont last forever or get something over $200!
      im planning on doing vids on fixing knives in the next while so that should help too :)
      PS: avoid knives under 15$ at all costs they last hours if you are lucky usually they are made from wet cardboard and will just snap
      Thanks for watching and best of luck!

    • @akshayy_xd
      @akshayy_xd 7 років тому +1

      Big Flips Thanks for the detailed reply! I'll take everything said here into consideration. (Which bear ops trainer did you use btw, there are a few for 30 and a few for 60-70)
      Also, I checked out the link in your description. Could you suggest a decent one from on there? They do look cool, but I'm looking for functionality above all, and can't choose since the site seems relatively new, with no reviews on the trainers, unless you mean those curved style trainers are any good?
      The straight ones are all 15 bucks, and you just said "Nothing under 15 is nay good" haha

    • @BigFlips
      @BigFlips  7 років тому +2

      yeah im talking about the curved cs go ones they are channel style with spring latches and seem higher quality. im sticking with what i said about 15 dollar knives though if you catch my drift. although like i said i havent flipped anything on the site yet its all in the mail. the bear and sons one is this one bearandsoncutlery.com/index.php?src=directory&view=Products&submenu=Damascus&category=Bear%20OPS%3A%20Butterflies&query=category.eq.Bear%20OPS%3A%20Butterflies&refno=348&srctype=Products_detail
      it flips well but the tang pin did fall out just a while ago sooner than i would have liked but that is kind of expected from a sub $200 knife. its not channel and doesn't have a spring latch but at that price its put together with high enough quality materials so you are good. if you want something with straigt handles id get the bear and sons. the cheaper bear and sons are prone to warp and break and they dont have adjustable pivots so you cant really fix them. they will last you a few months tho..

    • @BigFlips
      @BigFlips  7 років тому +1

      if you want an actual good quality trainer go for this squidindustries.co/trainers/ they are supposed to be great in all regards from what ive heard although they are sold out right now.

    Got it on the first try. Learning the basic ariel essentially sets you up to be able to do all of these similar ariels, and the tricks that include them. Take the knuckle duster, for example.
    Edit: I purchased a balisong with a shorter handle than I'm used to, and unfortunately it doesn't do some spins as well as I'd like it to. I can't do the chaplin or behind the 8-ball anymore because of it. It feels poorly weighted. Any suggestions? :/

    • @Chris77Rocks77

      Not worth the money, quite honestly, as the knife itself is only worth about 20 bucks. I was looking into purchasing a BRS Barebones, anyway.

    • @BigFlips
      @BigFlips  7 років тому

      look into tungsten putty. I'm not sure where to get it but it's basically heavy silly putty you can use to weigh down the ends of your handles. good luck!

    Sorry to double comment like this, I don't like to, but I was in need of an opinion. What do you think of the BRS Barebones? I can't afford the Alpha Beast, as I'm aware that you have it, and I think the Barebones is a quality option. What do you think? Maybe I shouldn't get a sharp one because I still manage to cut myself with my trainers lmao.

    • @BigFlips
      @BigFlips  7 років тому

      no prob bro feel free to quadruple comment I love em. never flipped the barebones but I know BRS makes great stuff and you will be very happy with it quality wise. at that price I think it's either the bb or the bm51 so if you like a heavier knife the bb should be an excellent pick! you are going to love it if it's your first good knife!

    • @Chris77Rocks77
      @Chris77Rocks77 7 років тому
