I'm Salvadorean; I work in the home remodeling industry in the US.
This video makes me believe I can start the same type of business there when moving back to my country in a few years.
I have started sending all kinds of tools and equipment to ES, and I hope you can become my clients. lol
Keep up the excellent work of sharing ES with the world.

for those builders out there who may think that Salvadorans are not able to build using the same techniques as the most advanced countries like USA and Canada; let me remind you that at least in the U.S. The labor force is mainly Hispanics, with millions of Salvadorans working explicitly in the industry, the rest and main groups would be the MEXICANS, etc. the Americans are mainly the owners of the companies and foremen. and UNIONS. So, I think we might had learned something new from doing it over and over. Secondly, Your videos are really great, enjoy the weather because up here we are freezing!. With respect to Family values, We Salvadorans believe that family is above all and every thing, Salvadorans sacrifice them selves for their well-being of their family members, such is the case that millions have emigrated to other countries looking for better opportunities to help their love ones.

Also, there are a few for now US construction companies with Salvadorean owners who are offering services in EL Salvador and will only increase as thousands of Salvadoreans members of the diaspora return to El Salvador. One of the reasons people will return is retirement. The average pension of 2-4 thousand dollars a month is not enough to live in the US and Canada and other developed countries, but it is plenty for living in El Salvador.

    •  Рік тому +6

@@drod8966 in Canadá the most you get is just about 1200 I think. If you want more you have to go private.

    • @drod8966
      @drod8966 Рік тому +7

@Rolando Ramirez that's Canada pension plan. If you get the max, and if you plan your life around it, you are f...
But there are other means like private and government sectors that offer pensions and RRSP, which is a way to save money for retirement and defere taxes until you are retired like a 401 in the US. So all together, you can retire with a VIP salvadorean style pension.

    •  Рік тому +5

@@drod8966 yes I like the sound of that. I do have little bits everywhere. I hope when the time comes I can return. Miss friends and family.

The design is European . And we as Salvadorian we don’t care how you build your home or how it looks like . As long as you’re a great neighbor… well, that’s what really matters to us . Welcome 🙏 to El Salvador 🇸🇻 and enjoy mi casa tu casa . And please try to either become a resident or even El Salvador 🇸🇻 citizen ❤. Thank y’all

Hey guys, please make sure you have a structural design. Lots of seismic activity in the county so is a matter of your family's safety.
Remember to use high ceilings, design around the sun and insulate the heck out of your ceiling/roof.
As far as A-frame... I think they are gorgeous, but they are also not common here because we don't need those slopes (no snow here. ever.) And A-frame is less efficient use of space vs vertical walls.
Good luck with your projects and welcome to the country.

Nice video. The birds sing is just magical, reminds me of my childhood. I can relate a lot to you guys, came to Canada 35 years ago, two hundred bucks in my pocket, no English. Back then, there was the Canadian dream. Learned English, studied a career, and found a good paying job with pension. Bought a house when they were cheap. Now everything is going down the toilet, houses are so expensive regular working people can not buy them. Homeless people everywhere, tent cities. Panhandlers at stop lights everywhere because they make more money this way than working. Health care was an issue 35 years ago and now is a lot worse. Ontario just introduced a bill to have private clinics do a lot of the services of the public health care and paid by the province. Why wait so many years? Luckily, I am working now in my salvadorean dream because Canada is going downhill...

I am from El Salvador, I currently live in Winnipeg 🥶, I’ve been planing my return for many, many years. I hope some day I can do it. Anyway, I visit almost 2 times a years for the most part, so I remain very attached to the country and culture and I can tell you with confidence that none of the locals will care or say anything about your home design, I always lived in middle class neighborhoods until the age of 21, when I came to Winterpeg. People might stare depending on how much stands out but no one will bug you about property value. Assuming that that is a concern

So definitely you have the man power with skill for everything. I will suggest if someone is thinking on construction activities the best way to have the people you need is set an advertising on the local newspaper in English and just put what are you looking and you will see how many people will answer your needs

Im not too sure about home building techniques from other countries. If you live in a good middle class or wealthy home in El Salvador chances are the homes are made of pure brick, concrete and steel to handle earthquakes. They also feel very comfortable weather wise.
Not all first world countries have the best techniques, maybe great fancy designs.
In Australia for example some of the houses start to age after 10-15 years, they get mould, the taps and things breakdown. I was not used to this as my previous home in El Salvador in Antiguo Cuscatlan was I good condition, good climate and I do not remember the constant breaking down of taps and things that you get in these commercial homes like in some first world countries.
Also, El Salvador is a country of Faith. We value family and traditional family values.

Awesome video guys! Great information and topics. I do have an update on the Amazon subject. I did order a drone through Amazon that offered international shipping. It was delivered within 2 weeks or less. Shipped out from FedEx or DHL initially in the States. When it arrived here in ES it was transferred to a local shipper. I included my lawyers number and they updated him/me when it was out to be delivered. Product was around $570ish and the shipping was around $50 total. Unfortunately yeah there are some sellers on those sites that don't work well with us that are outside the US. Keep up those videos! Love'em! JD

Hi! I think you did a great video, very informative specially for foreigners who are planning to visit or move to El Salvador. I'm originally from El Salvador, but moved to Washington DC back in 1991 right after the peace agreement. Lived the 12 intensive years of civil war, studying, working, and never finished none of my two careers in college. I worked as an interpreter & translator 1984-1989 for a ministry (Living Water Teaching Ministries), and 1989-1992 as an Accountant with a program from USAID (IRC - International Rescue Committee).
I like the way you put things, very simple and with honesty, based on your experiences, and I'm so glad you're enjoying living in El Salvador. I liked the way you presented or talked about Salvadoreans in general, as they are very warm and honest, and hard workers people (I'm one of them), and they always welcome foreigners or Salvadoreans who have lived in foreign contries and return to El Salvador. Part of our culture it's to be useful, helpful to others, and myself personally, I always enjoyed back in the 80's while a teenager, in helping foreigners, specially 'cause I wanted to learn the English Language, and practice it, but specially I felt the need to provide foreigners the help they needed, and felt proud whenever I could provide a helping hand.
Hope to meet you guys when I travel to El Salvador, to share and exchange ideas. I currently run and manage a Radio Station in the Washigton DC Area (Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, & Central Area of Pennsylvania), and I enjoy serving the Hispanic community in general, by keeping them inform with news, immigration laws, local events, interaction with community leaders, etc. I'll shared you our website, so you can take a look when you get a chance, it's www.radiolajefa.com, www.lajefa700.com, and if you want to contact me, you can email me at hernan@lajefallc.com. It's been a pleasure and hope to meet you one of these days! I'll be flying to El Salvador mid July 2023, August & October. Hope to meet you guys, and keep up the good work! - Jose Hernan Molina

El Salvador has earthquakes. It could be very intense and I could imagine that the laws has changes in reference to construction. We accept nice houses, but don’t try to build anything out of ordinary especially in rich neighborhoods. No one like to bring negative attention to them.
Salvadorans are hardworking, nice people. Salvadorans have strong values related to family.
You are welcome if you don’t start crime… Salvadorans are fed up.

Hio dear guys!!! I went up to tjhe end of your video and I just can say that all questions you've got were very interesting as well your answers!!! I'm very admiring? of all the informations you"ve got about El Salvador and having an answer of each one to any question...it's amazing!!!..I was last year in ES and I put the same question to my sister why she was still wearing the mask? She said me if I'm already vaccinated 4 time I still wearing it just to prevent...So I supose the other people have the same idea...Okay guys,it's was very nice hearing you giving an international interview siting at the patio of your casa...from Belgium.

The need for insulation is very important for hot weather and concrete is a conductor of heat. I prefer steal frame with spray foam insulation.

    El Salvadoran buses are awesome!
As for houses, I was looking into how to build cool houses in hot climates and the houses you might look down on because they aren't aesthetically pleasing are actually quite brilliant, including the outdoor kitchens.

I was born in El Salvador, and now lived in USA, but in the subject of structural homes from other countries, I be believed are allowed, in some areas of the capital city you will see some houses an mansions are not Salvadoran topical structures, it may be some steps to different requirements but there are few with different and very good fronts

Hi! Thank you for doing this. I have a home in Lago de Coatepeque. This is a popular hostal and airbnb area. Around the other side of the lake there is a newer build with A frame cabins. They definitely give a unique feel, but do stick out on the mountain side. I believe, because of the way the country is going there will be more and more unique homes built. Not sure the locals here mind. I think it is more the area you decide to build in, what is the feel/vibe and how do you want to alter it.

For the shipping. There are several companies that will take it by boat. Can charge anywhere from 200 to 900. Depending on the size. They will need an address where to deliver it and a phone number of person to contact when delivering. Takes about 3 months minimum. I think. But things tend to make it. Have not lost anything yet. They (the shipping companies) have pick up services (in the US at least) here in Texas in Dallas Austin San Antonio and Houston.

Excellent video, thanks! A few more questions for your next video:
How much of a barrier is language for an English speaker?
Are most of the expats living in certain areas, or all over the country?
If one has food allergies or sensitivities (gluten, dairy, shellfish, etc.) how easy are those to communicate/accommodate? (in general... restaurants, grocery stores, etc. but a bit along the lines of the Amazon question of this video... is there a wide range of product type/availability, so one doesn't have to order things?)

hey guys, great video. You mentioned that the masked people might be doing it for the bus fumes etc. I remember 25 years ago in Costa Rica the fumes from cars and diesel vehicles buses was pretty intense. That being said, GREAT VIDEO IDEA, take one of your bi lingual friends and interview folks downtown and ask those with masks, and those without. See what the people say. Thanks again for the great content!!
