    Being from Massachusetts, I’ll always be thankful to Pedro for bringing us a championship, breaking “the curse”. Would love to shake his hand one day. He brought lots of happiness and chemistry to the club.

      I'm from Medford, Mass. I was 16 during that and that, up until that point, was the greatest sports moment in my life. As we know, our region got going after that, but that was a SPECIAL moment. The greatest hitter to ever live. My grandfather, a WW2 vet, was telling me that since the day I could start remembering anything 🙏

    Pedro was the best pitcher of his generation, Ted Williams was the greatest hitter that ever lived.

      Not to mention his 1999 season was probably the greatest pitching season of all-time.

    • @KDill29
      @KDill29 3 роки тому +2

      @@Pronzini1 but was Ruth, really that good? I mean look at the era when he played. Was a whole different game. Wasnt even close to baseball in the 70's, 80's, 90's. Pitchers pitching complete games with ease, even maybe extra innings, and possibly pitching again the next day. Was Ruth good at his time yes. With out a doubt. But the best ever..even as a Sox or Yankee. Idk.

      @@Pronzini1, you are correct. Ruth was the greatest. But what I’ll give Ted Williams credit for is that he’s the only player who is even close Ruth. He’s easily the #2 all time.

    Im from Mass and was 16 in 99'.
    Im a DIE HARD sports fan and have been since i can remember anything.
    When that moment happened, it was the greatest sports memory i had thus far, as far as boston sports go.
    Ted Williams is the greatest hitter to ever live and the 99' all-star game at Fenway will never be duplicated again.
    Truly, a special moment

    Greatest all-star weekend. Pedro struck out four in two innings including Sosa and McGwire. The HR Derby was awesome as well.

    Angel fan, hated Pedro.
    But man was he dominant.
    Say what you will about him. But his peak, especially his early Boston years, was insane. To be as dominant as he ways, height of the steroid years, playing half in fenway, most of his other games in the AL east bandbox parks...
    Insane.

      The numbers he put up in the steroid era, pitching in Boston also, was absolutely incredible.

      Dominating in the steroid era is grossly overstated. In 2017, the MLB teams set a record for HRs in season. It was promptly broken in 2019.
