The 2001 edition of The Cadets, who performed Moondance as part of their show that year, remains in my opinion one of the most underrated editions of The Cadets. Hard to follow 2000
Omg this was insane! I hope I can sound that good on the trumpet someday! N I definitely played that 2nd song everyone came in to play in jazz band last year! I loved that song!
@regimentrocks This is no easy piece, not to mention they have it all memorized WHILE on tour. You've been on tour, you know how little time you have outside of rehearsing the actual show. The fact they were able to put something like this together and have it so clean speaks for itself.
@MarineBugler Actually, this is adapted from an arrangement by Electric Mustard, a group of UCLA students (3 trombones and a tenor sax) who recorded it in 1982. SCV played a similar adaptation at I&E in 1985.
actually they are contrabass Bugles, they call there baritone (traditional names that is) the bass bugle and highs the sopranos, The contrabass bugles has a different timbre than the traditional tuba(bass horn) and the sousaphone, The contrabass tuba is that which has 5 or 6 valves to increase the lower range with a wider bore and flare to carry the note Hope this helped!
To be honest I can't stand the Cadets "Between Angels and Demons" run. BUT if they did something like this for their true show I would fall in love with them. THIS is something cute, funny, and different. It shows that they know how to have fun!
@JeremysBugles I was talking about when the whole horn line comes in. Some baritones going WAY WAY past the horn. I think that's what I was talking about... don't remember, it was a long time ago. To me, that is never acceptable. I like the small group a lot. It's cute.
Nobody puts in the effort anymore to learn G bugles because are obsolete because of the introduction of band brass instruments. But with the rule change, who knows. Maybe we can see a resurgence of G bugles
That tuba up stop turn stop is immaculate
I like a good clean snap or sticks out boy oh boy I tell you!
I almost forgot they do know how to have fun... :)
only when in the sheet music :D
First time I've seen the Cadets relaxed and having fun while performing. I loved it!
So happy that I am part of brass... Brass sections are the best

i love how they added the ending of the song "variation of a korean folk song" in this, was my fav part on variation
This is so much fun -- throw in a few bars from "Miserlou" and its perfect.
Omg this was insane! I hope I can sound that good on the trumpet someday! N I definitely played that 2nd song everyone came in to play in jazz band last year! I loved that song!
just watching this makes me smile :), you gotta love this, there having fun and doing what they love
Awesome. Man I played in drum corps 66-70. I would have loved to play in cadets. Loved Blessed Sacrament and Garfield Cadets🎺👏👏
Absolutely stunning!!

this skit sums up the respective personalities of those instruments :p

I would have killed to see this live...
Jordan Mills sexysong
Tuba's Forever!!!
It is still part of the William Tell Overture, just a different section.
@HollyHood3137 That's part of the William Tell Overture, just before the big finale that most people think is the whole piece.
+themonsterjaw59 It's Moondance by Van Morrison. The Cadets played it in 2001.
SOOO MUCH TALENTTTT
Awesome!! Fun to watch. And the tonguing is so bosslike :o
The tonguing in this is crazy! I don't know how they do it.
If some bands on the field get commented on being too loud I don't want to know what these guys were called.
Outfugginstanding.... :)
Oh my god this made me so happy XDDDDDDD
I prefer this to mnzoil, the fact that they have time to do this during the season even is crazy
To be honest I can't stand the Cadets "Between Angels and Demons" run. BUT if they did something like this for their true show I would fall in love with them. THIS is something cute, funny, and different. It shows that they know how to have fun!
I just lost it laughing on the last 3 notes...
7 people never got to meet William tell.
Amazing
I fucking love The Cadets
Did they check for structural damage after the show? CAUSE THEY BROUGHT DOWN THE HOUSE!
Dammit, I knew I got the name wrong somehow. Thanks for the correction.
It's still in the Tuba family though.
@AndreasEastmansPride Wow thank you :)
Lmao that was great!
Can you say early 90's Velvet Knights?
dando um show de musicalidade
William tell him that cadets this a good saund of dbc
@ambroom Very true, they are, but this video is great!
@mrbigman13bb Indeed. If I'm remembering the part right, at around 4:00, its Simple Gifts.
4:30 nice listen for tuba
The full name is the Contrabass Tuba, both classifications are correct.
Holy shit, I love Van Morrison. Add DCI, and I just got a half chub.
A+
A contrabass tuba is a tuba that is lower than the Bb or C, Those are just called tuba of bass tuba
It s very nice
Does anyone have music for this exact arrangement???
awesome
whats the name of the song that the contra starts at 1:25?
@JeremysBugles I was talking about when the whole horn line comes in. Some baritones going WAY WAY past the horn. I think that's what I was talking about... don't remember, it was a long time ago. To me, that is never acceptable. I like the small group a lot. It's cute.
how dare you to compare this to mnozil :o
@themonsterjaws59 Moondance by Van Morrison. Classic.
dam i will be needing my money back plz cuz my face is melting sick!
The guy that taught me how to play french horn is here he's real lit
@1WFE3 that was last years show right?
Who thumbs this down? Those that have not marched Corps. Easy. Hey musically uneducated and unappreciative, stop watching random videos & get a life!
ohh tubas.
None of the good bands plays on G Contrabass Bugles anymore, so the term Contrabass Bugle is correct too for the Bb Marching Tubas.
Spartans do I know they are only div 2 but still
Nobody puts in the effort anymore to learn G bugles because are obsolete because of the introduction of band brass instruments. But with the rule change, who knows. Maybe we can see a resurgence of G bugles
Gunter Heisler Maybe because they're also impossible to tune.
Tuning? Tuning is for wusses XD
^^^
Whats the piece called at 1:27?
William Tell Overture
Listen to the whole orchestral track of William Tell by Rossini.
What song is the full corps playing when they come out?

Nice
Is there a full score for this anywhere??????
Aww :( that's true..
haha the tuba player in the background at 4:25
0:27 what is the name of this song?please!
Is this cadets and cadets^2?
No this is the 2011 cadets where they used both the maroon and cream uniforms for their show angels and deamons
Jacob Miner cadets2 didn't exist until a year later
There's no fun in drum corps!

Now when the whole corps comes out. What's the second song they play? With the kit.
Van Morrison - Moondance. They wouldn't bring in a full kit so I just made do with the percussion rack
