Just wanted to say thanks for these in depth videos. I love stealth ships in space games and i had trouble understanding how it worked in star citizen. I feel like i learned a ton
Hey cpt! Ive come across a couple of your vids and found them great! But this one is my favorite so far. Thank you for the hard work! I love the sabre and will be using it way more thanks to your info. Subbing now. 😊
I'm only @7:44 but already there's a small misunderstanding with your test. The range at which a ship is DETECTED and the range at which an established TARGET LOCK IS LOST are different. Once an observer has a target lock, the range required to break the target lock is (or should be, last I checked) greater than the range required to detect the target. This can be mitigated if the target drops noise to actively disrupt the observer's target lock. Did that make sense?
Yes, I think I got what you mean, that is why I am using this targeting and then backing up method, I was hoping, that the moment the other ship lost the radar lock on my sabre is the moment that it loses detection on my ship. So maybe that's not the case?
@@cpt_foxyloxy You should do that test soon. I’d rather k now at what range they lose the ability to detect me over at what range I can break their lock. I can break a lock anytime with noise.
It really seems like the sabre could serve a purpose here and come back to life some depending on config and load outs. I look forward to your next videos!
Hi Captain, I think I have the answer to your ambient test at 11:56 in the vid, your formula is wrong.. Instead of 4071*.9-1707=1946 it should be (4071-1707)*0.9=2534 which matches your result... You need to take off the ambient from your IR Sig to get your total IR differential signal BEFORE applying the 0.9 multiplier from the radar. Congrats on the series you have really got a few of us inspired to investigate stealth play, especially with unstable servers where you can't really dogfight due to de-synch, a bit naughty shooting sitting targets but for ptu it at least gets your rep up!
Now you're understanding how the firebird is going to be deadly when used right having 24 missiles! The Eclipse is slightly more stealthy. I've flown the Eclipse with no shields or guns and 1 cooler/power plant for a while (stealth components used to be better than they are now) and it's an absolute blast hunting pvp bounties. Now with the Firebird here, people won't know if it's a firebird or eclipse when they're missile locked but can't see a ship on Radar.
If the a preferred scenario is carriering in fighters and not turning on their quantum drives, it would be interesting to then see what the Furys would look like in the same tests. I've always thought about having fighter escorts and mining and salvaging operation overwatch being done by Furys with the longest range weapons possible. Say for an example, you have a large mining operation going on, and you have 4 or 5 Furys sitting on the ground, 10km out, surrounding the operation. If pirates come along, they could go into operation and have the Fury MXs start lobbing long range missiles and the regular Furys start blasting them with long range cannon. The pirates would have no idea where they were being hit from and probably bug out. Worse case scenario, the regular Furys swoop in and attack with their superior maneuverability and stealthiness.
Try an Aurora with stealth components. i notice the missile Saber is not a 1v1 ship. Imagine a missile Sabre doing a sneak attack and then stringing out the survivors. And having a full scattergun Hornet coming in to do clean up duty on any ship without shields. Or a disruptor ship. Yeah, this Sabre is all about team play.
o7 ! Why no one talks about there is a stealth mode in MFD's , i think it is in power mode not sure but it works , i saw this in 3.22 and after not sure if it's the same as your video was made ! And talking about shields, we also can change the Shields to Stealth , works also and rises faster then the Army ones 🤔 And i always try to change my power plant for industrial and also coolers but i think this raises my IR signal 😅 This game its enciclopédia 😂! 👍
I feel like the sabre standard and comet should be the interceptors with less stealth because they have those huge engine intakes with more guns and the Firebird/raven should be stealthier but slower.
Yeah, actually if you know what you are doing, most of the time they will hit, however, the Torpedo is the current patch is a different story, they have too much ego now...lol
There aren't. If you're referring to the ptu, that was only a temp change for testing another problem thought to involve missile speeds. There is a new ptu patch that has now reverted missile speeds. Torpedos are actually faster now than they were before.
I had a Sabre as a bounty target the other day and the sorry sucker was not visible on radar till I got to 1.7km, but he was already shooting at me. NPCS are cheating.
@@cpt_foxyloxy i wish my firebird could swap out its missile types. Id be loading up with 30+ rattlers to relive my packhound swarm missile days of Elite dangerous
Not after 3.23... *Ghost* had 40% stealth bonus in 3.22, so it was like 30% stealthier then *sabre* Now *ghost* got 13% penalty, so *sabre* like 50% stealthier.
Go watch someone else for now man I've been waiting SO LONG for a deep explanation of stealth in this game and I'm finally getting the info dump I wanted 🤣
Err what its a series of videos on stealth... I am having fun learning this stuff. Multiple examples is also good for me... This game is so jank its worth checking with experiments rather than just trusting their maths matches with in game
Thank you! I learned 100% about stealth in SC since watching this cool video
Glad I could help!
The bit on Daymar when you lost radar lock at 2.5km works out correctly if you use this formula 4071 − 1707 × 0.9 = rather than 4071 × 0.9 − 1707=
nice! Thank you

you make the best SC videos by far thanks!

Another worthy watch. Way to go.
Thank you
Also some R&R stations have clouds that have EM masking, if that interests you for your testing.
You'll need to redo this after 3.23.1a. The firebird is getting a 40% lower signature and will be the go to for stealth.
Yes indeed, I can't wait to do that video after the new patch goes live with the firebird
@@cpt_foxyloxy I really want to see your take on the changes.
Another great video thanks!
You bet!
great vid homie
Appreciate it
Great info thx again.
excellent video!
Thank you very much!
You can equip 4x S2 strife to the Sabre and have 3-4km of buffer engagement range totally undetected. You'll be dps and ammo limmited though.
woooo, nice idea, gonna try that, thank you!
Very interesting. how about with some ballistic cannons or shredders?

Very cool video. What kind of stealth could you get with a Hull?
Lol that's a great question 😅
@@4r4ujo86 i mean arguably the more important question here.

Rn stealth components do nothing, only the ship itself or the weapons truly matter

Encyclopedia it is... so many details. o7 cmdr
Great video. Hopefully they make the ships less tanky without shields. Or buff weapons.
Indeed. Thank you

Except the stealth options you gave are cash only ships so lame idea
@@geronimo5537 the Firebird will be purchasable in game. Raven is the only highly exclusive one.
Killing engines is extremely important at times so your lights go out and you're harder to track
see how all your missiles hit? I keep telling people.. if you know what you're doing, they'll hit. but they keep saying "missiles don't work"

My flight suite is probably my lowest signature.
Absolutely! Flight suit + Pulse = Invisible & Invincible
No need 4 stealth. missiles are nearfed into the ground.

Yeah for sure, but it has been bugged for a while, so we don't know when when can use it for stealth
