I love how at 2:07 they show her leaning backwards to show the sudden weight that she is now having to carry
She walks like how tall birds walk when they're holding something which is just cool
This just shows that no matter what creature you are, the Mother Instinct is always strong when a family needs help
2:07 Nanuq doing that old school dino-posture
I think it's doing that to lift the Ornithomimus carcass from the ground.
@@ernovincze2900 Yeah, that's kinda obvious. It's just that the moment i saw the posture i got flashbacks of watching paleoart from the 70s and 80s
One small detail I love is that when the Ornithomimus are running, they use their wings to gain small boosts of speed
Nanuqsaurus as both a fast running hunter, and a good mother. Love this show.
inb4 that pteranodon "paleontologist" comes in and insists that all baby dinosaurs were precocial, and did not receive parental care.
When I say "precocial" I don't just mean that they could walk on their own. I mean they were abandoned at birth. Which I don't think is true, but this one guy insists is.
@@dplocksmith91 The one thing jack horner did right was discover how good dinosaur mothers where at parenting (for some species, as there has been evidence of a lot of carnivorous dinosaurs taking care of their young)
0:58-1:07 “Look at the wheeling. Uniform direction changes. Just like a flock of birds evading a predator.”
It just goes to show, the smaller the tyrannosaur is, the faster it can run. It looks like this mother may be going about 35 to 40 miles per hour. Ornithomimus could be going slightly faster since it's about the same size and weight as an ostrich.
You know this isn't actual film of them, right? It's just computer animation.
@@TransoceanicOutreachdamn I thought they went back in time to film these dinos
Those chicks are so precious.
I can only imagine how much the Ornithomimus’ heart must of sank at 1:42
Damm that tyrannosaur's fast. Nobody's gonna talk about how long she maintained that speed
With the exception of outliers such as the adult T. rex, tyrannosaurs were amongst the theropods best adapted for running and were likely pursuit predators. Ironically, the "running lizards", the dromaeosaurids, don't shows the same adaptation and were likely mostly ambush hunters.
@@alezot6141 we’re abelisaurids good runners too? I know carnotaurus were likely but I don’t know about the other ones
@@elmochomo8218 abelisaurids were built for running, they were also extremely fast
@@OkOk-lx9yt Except for Majungasaurus, which had short legs for its body size
Kinda reminds me of Prehistoric Park with both series showing a tyrannosaurid hunting an ornithomimid and caring her young by her own on high area
Although in this case another tyrannosaurid didn't show up killed the mother and took the ornithomimid carcass like in prehistoric park
BABIES! So tiny! And cute!!! OH MY GOD, THIS SHOW IS GIVING US SO MUCH! AND I LOVE IT!
One of the more underrated things about this scene is that the 2nd That Orninthomimus tripped it sealed its fate that just shows how one mistake in nature can end anything that one trip was Luck for that Female Nanuq but also bad Luck for that Ornithomimus
I wonder if Nanuqsaurus had a thicker coat of feathers in winter than it did in spring and summer like a lot of birds do today. This is a fantastic Nanuqsaurus hunt and I wonder what species the Ornithomimid would be. Intermediate Ornithomimid bones are known from the Prince Creek formation where Nanuqsaurus is found along with Pachyrhinosaurus and Ugrunaaluk (now known as a species of Edmontosaurus). Lambeosaurine fossils are found in the Prince Creek formation too. Footprints of Gruipeda are also known and that is fascinating since Gruipeda is a representation of a small bird in the region. At the time of this comment only footprints are known of the bird.
Season 1 starts with the tyrannosaur family, season 2 ends with the tyrannosaur family
This clip is cool. In the Ice Worlds episode of Prehistoric Planet (2022) it showed a pack of Nanuqsaurus hunting some Pachyrhinosaurus in Alaska in the Late Cretaceous (Later the Prince Creek Formation) but in Prehistoric Planet 2 (2023) episode North America it showed a mother Nanuqsaurus in Alaska in the Late Cretaceous (Later the Prince Creek Formation) hunting some Ornithomimus for her offspring. These clips show that Nanuqsaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus and Ornithomimus lived in social groups, herds and families and were not solitary. The relatives of Nanuqsaurus include other Tyrannosaurs like Tyrannosaurus, Tarbosaurus, Yutyrannus, Qianzhosaurus, Daspletosaurus, Gorgosaurus, Albertosaurus and Alectrosaurus while the relatives of Pachyrhinosaurus including other Ceratopisans like Ticeratops, Styracosaurus, Centrosaurus, Protoceratops and Psittacosaurus plus other Ornithominds like Struthomimus, Deinocherius and Gallimimus did something similar. We are learning a lot about Tyrannosaurs, Ornithominds, Ceratopisans and other Coleurosaurs and Ornithschians and their paleontology, natural history and paleobiology by studying their fossils.
So most of the dinosaurs including sauropods lived in some type of social structure?
I love the babies eating while it looks like they are giving her kisses
She's a good mom
1:44 the moments ornithomimus get a new role as a food😂
Why does this remind me of The ballad of Big Al. You know when Young Al tries to chase the Dryosaurus. Poor Al..
Nick, Judy and their kids Nelson, Nancy, Christopher and Elizabeth are depicted wearing Christmas themed winter clothes throughout the entire special instead of their regular clothes, same went for the Otterton family, Sam, Fru Fru and Brianca, Judy (shrew), Mike, Nancy and their kids, Chief Bogo and his wife and kids, Matthew and their friends and families including Tru Tru, Brianca, Mandy, Christine and Charisma, Flash, Priscilla and their kids, Rosita and her kids, Darel and his parents, Ash and Leo, Johnny and his wife and kids, Meena, Alfsono, Harold (elephant) and Gunter while Porsha, Luke, Steven, Gazelle, Clawhauser, Alvin, Jake, Juliet and Fuli wear Santa Claus uniforms and costumes throughout the entire special and Clay Calloway wears a Ghost of the Christmas Present uniform through the entire special.
In 2100, we'll have even more realistic clips.
And we'll also have far more information on what the Dinosaurs looked like, and acted like.
Which means we'll have far more realistic and accurate documentaries.
Gorgeous !
Cameramen been doing god’s work since forever
Just a good mother doing what she can for her babies.
I wonder if a pack of gray wolves today could catch up to these fast moving prey?
They can. They often hunt hares which I assume just as fast as these ornithomimuses.
Yes, Ethiopian wolves and African wild dogs will and do hunt ostriches in the wild.
In some scenes it looks like a live documentary, the quality is astonishing, the only flaw is in the panoramic view where the snow doesn't move under the paws
Its like seeing a cheetah chase a gazelle.
I am amazed at the amount of dinosaurs species.
The fact that they went back in time just to record this shows how much amazing and realistic this is
Imagine if early humans try moving in places with these carnivorous dinosaurs during the early Ice Age?
This isn't the ice age and dinosaurs were long gone by then but yeah we'd be snacks to fast running carnivores, they could snatch us up like herons and frogs.
@@tsopmocful1958 no you just described a dinosaur from the 40s your description outdated af
This is the non-plus-ultra of CGI-Dinosaurs!
I always take side for the ones with the little chicks. ☺☺ They are so cute.

I really like the shot of her stalking, the stopping, moving into position, then pausing again of the foot is very accurate to how modern day animals stalk
They should amend the name of this animal, for she hints more like the wolf than the aquatic ice bear
"Babies!"
I love the animation of the show. David Attenborough is my favorite. I might believe in evolution. But still love this show. 👍🏻🙏. Pray they make a season three.
Amazing 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
At the end of the day there's just animals trying to live a life
wow good video ❤
Why isn't she part of a pact like the ones in the last season did against that pachyrhinosaurus?
Probably like cheetahs. Male cheetahs are the ones known to form small groups, while females remain solitary.
The behind-the-scene for the Ice World episode implies that the Nanuqsaurus hunt in packs only during the winter, when hunting larger preys becomes easier and a necessity. The segment in the North America episode, on the other hand, takes place at the start of spring, when smaller preys that don't put much of a fight (eg. Ornithomimus) became aviable again
@@alezot6141 This sounds like the real life behaviour of gray wolves, which also forms packs in the winter but raise their cubs by themselves in the spring.
@@ernovincze2900 wolves do hunt more large and formidable preys such as bisons during winter, but they live in stable packs all year round; in spring, older cubs may leave the pack, but this is compensated by the birth of new cubs around the same time.

They had winter at that time ?
There were seasons everywhere, it's just that there wasn't any snow during winter, except near the poles.
Wow! Love the cgi! Great work! I subbed
Another Tyrannosaur…!
Nahh bro slipped
Why would she have such young offspring in winter? Surely they have hatched in the spring, and should have grown more than this during the summer?
I mean like polar bears, It makes sense to have your babies in the winter if they are strong enough, by summer they will already be Kickstarted for the season and strong
Breeding time is often reversed in cold climates for mammalian predators vs prey
That seems like a lot of calories burned for not much payoff 🦖
That Ornithomimus was pretty big compared to her. Keep in mind that she and her babies are not only going to eat the muscle meat, but also the internal organs, and the skin.
Canada?
Northern Canada. This is what the Arctic Circle looked like during the Cretaceous.
Nanuqsaurus and ornithomimus did not live together
For how good this show usually is, what is with the CGI? There was no snow movement and the animals just seemed to be floating.. seems unfinished.

They’re feathers.
Also “reptile” is a pretty meaningless term taxonomically, as it’s a paraphyletic grouping. Dinosaurs are more closely related to birds than they are to lizards or even crocodilians.
