These guys are in my top 5 favorite bands of all time. I was introduced to them in the early 80’s while selling audio gear for Schaak Electronics here in Milwaukee. To this day, every new piece of audio gear I get has Tricycle has the first album.
Playing with Bill Berg when we were both on Guam was the best. Great Guy. You are right about his drumming. His precision is so there. He was an inspiration to me to continue playing bass all these years even now.
This was the very first song I heard on CD! It had just been released. The Very Hip Director of the Media Library at Marist College (I worked in Adult Programs) had purchased CD Players, put them in small listening rooms with some great AKG Headphones. He handed me Tricycle and Clifford Brown with Strings. Holy Shit! I still have all the BBs CDs. Right now I have Tunnel in my car Stereo. Yes. So Old School. A Car with a CD Player in 2024. DMP sound is still mind blowing! Thanks for posting this.
Found tricycle when I was around 11 years. I used to play the album on repeat while I played games and read at night. I can still whistle along to the song without pause. Loved the bass on this track.
Thanks so much for resurrecting this classic footage. Like some of the other comments, this was also my first CD. This tune still gives me the shivers its just so crisp.
Thanks for bringing this back. It was my first CD too! In fact I bought my first CD player ever just to play the Tricycle CD. Even have their first record album in my collection. Still sounds great!
I used to sell car audio equipment in the 80s and 90s and this was the song I always played to prove your system had what it took to make it or was just terrible. It will find bad installs in a heart beat and if you were selling good stuff it was so crisp it made it sounds so good.
Thanks so much for posting - I was fortunate enough to catch one of their rare live performances at The Wiltern Theater in L.A. (I believe that was in 1987). Love all their CDs, but Tricycle definitely set a new bar in the early 80s and was a great CD to bring to an Audio File store to REALLY test out the speakers.
Tricycle was the first CD I ever owned. I somehow forgot about Flim and the BBs over the past couple decades, but just thought about them a few days ago and now having a bit of a revival on my playlist. This video is the first time I've ever seen them play. Thanks for sharing! Would love to see any other footage you have.
Indeed! Highly underestimated. He chose a career as an animator for Disney Studios until they went all digital. Then he retired and moved to Carolina. He's will be 75 this year (the oldest of the BBs) and still plays in local bands in his state. Long live Bill Berg. Not many know this but the legendary Peter Erskine is a fan of Bill's playing. This was an awesome band. Jimmy Johnson is a monster on the bass with an amazing career and his name appears on hundreds and hundreds of records, plus he's the bassplayer for James Taylor for 35 years (also his musical director nowadays).
I'll never forget the night I heard KKSF play "This is a Recording" in its entirety. Next morning I headed to Tower Records and bought the CD. I've been to over 300 concerts in my life but I never was fortunate enough to enjoy these master musicians live.
A great trio with amazing musicianship!!!! Jimmy Johnson is one of the best bassists on the planet with one of the best tones!!!
Thanks for posting this. People really need to know about Flim & the BBs. They produced soooooo much great music.
Back then these guys could break your speakers
They still try - or is it me? 😋

I was nine & attracted by the cover.
It’s a tricycle - what could go wrong. 🎉
No joke one of my favorite album covers.

Damn, searched for this several years ago and it was nowhere to be found, so glad you were able to bring it back from the lost.

I have a few others on my channel. Glad you enjoyed it!
Classic hidden gem
Awesome. Top three drummers for me:
Jeff Porcaro, Bill Berg and Carlos Vega. Bill is so unique and musical.
You are right!
Bill Berg is such a great drummer, I don't know why he is not a famous drummer...
@@wolowolowolo Probably makes much more money as an animator for Disney. He’s quite talented. I’ve never heard a drummer like Bill Berg.

@@SWH2012 Thank you for that background!
Loving this. Thanks for posting. I thought I saw Heart Throb from Big Notes here at one time. If that was you, can you repost?
Sorry, not I!

Very cool - I've never seen any live footage of the band before. And interesting that it's just a trio - is this from before Oatts joined the band?
He's with them this evening. I've found a few other vids with him playing. What a band.
@@MichaelVLang I'd love to see those other videos!
@@rizz4u I'll look around for them.
@@rizz4u I put what I have up on my channel. Enjoy!
