Rob, I bought this watch based almost solely off of this video of it, and it’s comparison with the Rangeman. I had previously owned the Rangeman, but it wasn’t for me. This Frogman, this specific one, is the one for me. I love everything about it, but my favorite thing that no one seems to really appreciate is the moon phase. A typically high-end mechanical complication mostly seen from powerhouse Swiss or German manufactures, here it is utilized on a rugged, affordable tool watch. I love that juxtaposition, and as a collector, little things like that can push you over the ends to justify a purchase. Cheers!
Yes! I have been wanting one of these badly all of a sudden and then you teased it in a video a couple weeks ago. I have been not patiently waiting and waiting. Thanks for sharing Rob!
@@RandomRobReviews I think I may go for your same model as a gateway. I really like the men in navy versions but not sure if I want to go a full $1k out of the gate. I went to a couple stores in the mall that carry g-shock hoping to try one before buying but no one carried them. We have the same wrist size so I think I'll be good.
I think I would try to spot stain the watch all over, evenly with the OFF. It actually looks pretty cool, and you would definitely make it personally yours! Coolest video, thanks!
Off Bug Spray is highly corrosive...covering the whole watch with it will etch the watch face and most likely remove all the lettering around the dial.
I bought this watch as a Christmas for........."Myself". I bought this Frogman just because Casio/G-Shock has been coming out with so many recycled models with different color schemes or a sleeker version of the original model without adding any new functions. And I got it for a good price on-line and it's a nice addition to my collection.
Hey brother, I just got my Seiko Samurai STO 2 today. I want to say thank you for the content you put out there regarding this watch. I was really worried about it possibly being too big but even on my 6 3/4 wrist it fits just fine and your content led me to pull the trigger and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Nathan
I believe the plastic is scared, the chemical is cleaned off, but the crap reacted with the resin and kinda "melted" in those tiny spots. I had the same problem.
It's not a question of removing stains; high concentration DEET will disolve plastics. I assume that is what happened to the polyurethane resin of the strap. Instead of stain removal, it's going to be more of a question of refinishing, and I don't know of a good way to do that with PUR. I suppose you could always order a replacement bezel and strap, or go the other way, and speckle the whole thing! :=) Oh, and it's an awesome watch.
This model definitely attracted me to the Frogman series of G-Shocks. However, I went with the GWF-D1000 as it comes with a Sapphire Glass crystal and a slightly bigger case. I definitely have no regrets purchasing this over the Rangeman.
Dude thanks great video I'm thinking about purchasing this watch I was just telling my wife the other day I need this watch and a in-ground pool in our backyard and I could die a happy man thanks again
Hi Rob, great reviews in general. This helped me decide which Seiko Diver I wanted to buy. Had SKX, Monsters before and was really keen on the Quartz Tuna. But as an affordable everyday timepiece, I think your conclusion swayed me to this. Regarding price, I managed to pick one up here in the UK for £622.50 (includes the 20%VAT).
Nice custom finish on the strap, I have a G shock that I took camping and did the same custom job with the bug spray. those mark are there to stay, I personally don't mind it as mine reminds me of a 5 day 58km trek through Nelson New Zealand.
@@RandomRobReviews I'm with you, It's more about the look than the features for me as well! Hell our phones do everything our watches do, but I still love wearing them!
Yup. You got it. Attacks and melts/dissolves the resin. You should see what it does to auto vinyls, plastics, paint finishes, etc. It's very, very ugly.
There is no way to ever get the mosquito spray or a sunscreen off. Discovered this with my gw-m5610, now specled the whole thing. The only option is buying a new bezel and strap
Hate to be a negative Nancy but it seems like the deet may have melted the resin. Remember I accidentally sprayed some repellant on my rain jacket and it just ate through the plastic in minutes
perfect watch, more important than size is weight and at 140 grams it's the top end of what I would accept on wrist, you can wear this thing all day and night
Hi, Rob! Why didn’t you get the latest version Frogman? Was that solely due to the price or was there a different reason? I had a look at the D1000 in the store the other day, off my wrist it looks cool, but when on it the watch looks humongous. So I think I’ll go for the one in your video. It seems a bit smaller, the strap is much shorter and the watch is sooo affordable now. Used Mint is available at around 300 USD, which is a bargain.
That protrek does have cool lume! I like the protrek but am currently of the mindset that my quartz watches should be digital and mechanical watches analog. I do like the Oceanus line from Casio though.
The repellent looks like it melted it. I had the same thing happen too. The SA80 rifle plastic parts supposedly could melt when repellant got on it too.
Casio should make a smaller Frogman for a everyday use (like 40/41mm of diameter and 46/47mm of lug to lug). If I spend 1.000$ for a diver watch I want use it every day.
I accidentally sprayed Lysol on one of mine and it did the same thing. I could never get the spots off. It only happens on the matte finish straps. I ended up selling the watch cuz it annoyed me. Now I know better
I hope you read my comment but the tide function could be useful to you with the great lakes. Google your high tide chart and adjust your watch high tide to match the lakes tides so then you'll have that info. Maybe it isn't useful to you but since you have the feature might as well set it up. You probably have a North moon like I do. I live in Olympia, WA. Just a FYI.
I was going to get that one...then seen the price. LOL At the end of the day I got a Frogman and a Rangeman and spent less. Having the depth sensor would be nice but honestly I don't need that.
Well you sure do deserve a break from Sunday Funday Watch-sales! No doubt. If you can’t take the bug spray off then put more bug spray on! Maybe it’ll look normal again if you totally cover it..🤔🤣
Those spots wont come off. It’s damage to the silicone strap. DEET eats up rubber/plastic including watch straps and gaskets. DEET is the worst thing you can spray on a watch.
What do you mean, you don’t want to cover it all? You didn’t cover squat. Why do you think most people check out these videos in the first place??? They just want to see how to set the time.

I think those speckles looks really good, Initially I thought they were part of the design lol
That watch rocks. The stains are ok, they just add to its history. The watch it still normal to small size by Invicta standards.
Indeed story. Midnight river trip, bugs tried to eat me.
Lol
@@RandomRobReviews you’re a survivor, fam.
I’ve used a little WD40 on a cleaning cloth to remove, then used alcohol to wipe off the oil.
I love the Casio Frogman. The best digital watch available IMO.
The rangeman will give it a run for its money
@@wutang2549 no it won't.
@@derekwalter4238 Yes it will.
@A Fistful of Pimples no. Thr rangeman doesn't have a screwdown case back. Therefore it cannot compare
I asked about it on the live stream. Ended up buying one, albeit the triple sensor.
Absolutely love it.
Oh, got the nice one. Well done
I bought 6 G squares after watching your vids....oh boy now there's another I'll have to check out 😛
I just stained my uncle Seiko GL 831 with the same stuff. My mudman also suffered the same fate.

Rob, I love your channel. You're an inspiration for me. Be careful with the bug spray. My understanding is that the spray actually melts the plastic.

Just spray the whole watch and get an even saturation. lol

The Frogman, aka the coolest G
Good luck with the Off. I had a Rangeman, that I did the same thing. I never did find anything to get it off....no pun intended.
Same issue I had with a square. Doesn’t bother me. Won’t do it again though
If I was still actively diving, I would have to have that one. I have skinny wrists, so it’s a no-go as a daily wearer for sure.
this was a fabulous release, it is a classic G-Shock frog.

Hi Rob! Fantastic video! I have been looking at this Frogman heavy. Was curious if that's a Seiko Tuna desk clock you have there?
The mosquito repellent has Deet in it and it micro-melts the rubber on the watch.
😬

When u try spray repellent on urself make sure ur watch isn't on ur wrist.
I've been patiently waiting all day for the watch sale, I have PayPal burning whole in my pocket.
Hmmmmm. Maybe not doing one?
That stuff ate up my Casio f-91 case. It eats the rubber straps but also the harder plastic of the f-91 case.
Fully import from JAPAN ..?
Sun block cream also marks it.
It melts the rubber, no getting it off.

How long is its strap? It is a great piece, but I am afraid of overhanging strap on my smaller wrist. Thank you!
Did you ever managed to take out the spray marks in the rubber? I have the same issue
Nope
I’m on the hunt for this one again. Had one 10 years ago!
They are selling this model on Amazon for $435 and casio just re-released this frogman on thier website and they are selling it for over $700.
The deep woods will not come out. My wife sprayed her feet with sandals on and it literally dissolved the dye in her sandals
I wonder what it does to the skin
Have you thought about getting the JaysandKays adapter for normal watch straps?

No such plastic related problems with my Citizen Pro master Tough with titanium coating. It can also desk dive to 300 m at half the cost 😄.

Unfortunately not with the entry model. The high price one that has the depth sensor does, but the budget one unfortunately doesn't.

....And what the heck is desk diving!?
