    The longest running nameplate in the Kia lineup gets a full redesign for 2017. With an even more striking design, improved technology, and a more luxurious cabin, buyers looking for a compact SUV will find plenty to like with the latest Sportage. Those looking for the most space or best fuel-efficiency may want to check out the competition before choosing the Kia.

    I disagree that FWD SUVs are pointless. AWD/4WD adds a lot of weight and does affect MPG. It is also just one more potential component that could break over time. It can also raise insurance rates on certain vehicles. AWD/4WD is really only needed if you plan on doing offroad adventuring or if you get a lot of inclement weather, but even then, in the snow, snow tires will be the most important thing. Saving money is always smart, too.

      My choice on the next car purchase is the all new prototype version of 2018 Hyundai Genesis. That prototype version is a head turner and I must have that car as soon as it become production. Can you give me some feedbacks on what to expect when it finally comes out in the dealership? How soon it will be ready to be in the dealer's lot?

    • @theredline
      @theredline  8 років тому +1

      +Bo Choi The Genesis sedan was just redesigned for 2015 so that would be shocking if there was an all-new model for 2018. Hyundai will be renaming the car the Genesis G80 for 2017 but we suspect there could be a mid model year change for 2018 but nothing has been confirmed. You should expect to see the 3.3T replace the NA 3.8 V6 in the coming years.

I also don't understand why everyone likes the look of the Rouge when it has always looked like a giant egg to me.

    Decently upsets me that I have the sister car- the 17 Tucson Limited w/ the Ultimate package yet my Tucson has no heated steering wheel, no front parking sensors, no folding mirrors, no paddle shifters, +66hp- but I got heated rear seats while the Sportage doesn’t? I would have sacrificed my heated rear seats for the front parking sensors alone. I would have gotten this Sportage if I wasn’t so put off by the exterior styling.

That being said, I can understand that certain people don't like the front-end, but I most certainly do like it, a lot, actually. If I was in the market this car might actually take my money.

    Kia gave a slight refresh to the 2020 Sportage. More standard features even on the base trim like an 8" touchscreen. I got the base trim level 2020 LX AWD with the optional $1795 LX Popular Package. I love this car! The non-turbo 2.4L engine at 181hp and 175 lb/ft torque is more than adequate for daily driving. It has good driving dynamics... nimble and sporty feeling but yet still very comfortable and quiet. I'm averaging 25 MPG in mixed driving with mine.
    You also don't see a Sportage everywhere you go like you do a RAV4, CR/V, CX5, Escape or Equinox... I think it looks better than all of them inside and out. It looks and feels like a sport/luxury SUV, with more features for less money than competitors in the same class. Great value especially when you consider that Hyundai/Kia vehicles have the longest warranty in the business.

    Trust me you DO NOT want the DCT Tucson...!!! Nothing but trouble with that tranny set-up. Which is why they've done away with it for 2019 moving forward. If the Tucson had put this set-up in the new 2019 i would have purchased it without a second though. But i'll stick with the vehicle on my short list 2018 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0L. I don't know if the front end of the Sportage appeals too me. It looks to "bug eyed" for my tastes. Sometimes being too busy isn't a good thing.

    It's a pity French cars aren't sold in the USA. The interior of the 2017 Peugeot 3008 puts all interiors in this segment to shame. It makes the Kia look outdated and old fashioned.

    • @water892
      @water892 8 років тому

      They wouldn't sell. They aren't big enough or attractive at all. Plus I know French cars have reliability issues just like the Italians.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 8 років тому

      The 3008 is the same size as the Sportage. They also have the 508 which is a mid size sedan. They are attractive...looks are a subjective topic and the 3008 looks awesome and so does most of the French cars. They are different and stylish. It's not like the new Sportage is a looker judging by many comments here so... Reliability....maybe 10 years ago but that is not an issue anymore. French cars offer the European car quality and feel for Korean car money. I don't know if you've sat in a new French car recently. The 308 feels like a far more premium and expensive car than its Korean competitor the Cerato (or Forte in the US I think). It has more technology, far far better engines and a very high quality interior. The US is missing out. There are better cars you can get for this type of money and they are all French.

    • @water892
      @water892 8 років тому

      SDav21 Actually I have, I was in Paris two weeks ago. You can not just say the Sportage is not a looker based on comments because that makes you a hypocrite. But you're right, everyone has their own taste in vehicles. But I know for a fact that Americans want big vehicles by domestic manufacturers, or cars made by manufacturers that have been in America for years. Just look at Fiat, they came to North America in 2009 and they do not have decent sales. But Peugeot and Fiat are totally different. Peugeot and Citroen are very nice vehicles but I can assure you they would be bashed and have poor sales. Hyundai and Kia still get bashed and they are selling real well here. But, I do like Peugeot's abstract designs. You can think what you want but I am just saying the truth as I am well aware of car trends in America.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 8 років тому

      You're right there. I suppose it does. But the new 3008 has been getting more praise for its design than the new Sportage. So I was just trying to see what may be more likeable or not to maybe a majority of people. But yeah I won't comment there since it is subjective. Thanks.
      What French car did you drive or sit in? Did you like it? I wish they could sell everywhere I think their cars are excellent and they deserve to be recognised all over.

    • @vq37zu
      @vq37zu 8 років тому

      What's not subjective is reliability and Asian (even Korean) will beat any French, Italian or German manufacturer. The new Peugeots may look different and cool, Renault may do too, but both have shit reputation when it comes to reliability. Now, in before the typical "I have a Clio with 900,000 miles, never repaired it!" douchebag,

    Kia. Why can't we get the 7 speed dual clutch with the 2.0 Turbo!!?? It does wonders with the 1.6 in the Tuscon and optima. But you can't get it with the 2.0 turbo? That makes no sense

    The Sportage is a solid vehicle. I love my Mazda3 but I need a bigger vehicle. This just might win my money.

    Why do they make windows smaller and smaller? You can see far but you can not see close.
    I was interested in this car but no, I'll keep me 2007 civic.

      This has nothing in common with the Cayenne, aside from being an SUV. The Edge sport is closer to the Cayenne than this.

    I've noticed that alot of the new gdi engines are very loud. What causes that? My 2010 Corolla has 160k miles and is still very quiet with the hood up.

    Sofyan, Keep the reviews coming! Since you choose such awesome music in your lead-ins, I suggest you credit the musicians' work. This is only a suggestion. Not a copyright cop talking here. I often would like to listen to the full track of some of the segments of music you pick for your reviews. Thanks!

    You whined about equinox not having adaptive cruise control but was so nice about it here. It's a very important feature and every vehicle should have it atleast as an option. Lot of comfort in highway driving.
