To be honest, I must say when ever I'm looking for a complete car reviewer, I intend to rely on your non of the bias of fully understandable definition without ever getting behind the wheel in person. I'm a huge fan of your analysis on car review, and I turn on your UA-cam channel to get inside scoop on newer make model vehicles. Keep up the great work my friend!
My choice on the next car purchase is the all new prototype version of 2018 Hyundai Genesis. That prototype version is a head turner and I must have that car as soon as it become production. Can you give me some feedbacks on what to expect when it finally comes out in the dealership? How soon it will be ready to be in the dealer's lot?
+Bo Choi The Genesis sedan was just redesigned for 2015 so that would be shocking if there was an all-new model for 2018. Hyundai will be renaming the car the Genesis G80 for 2017 but we suspect there could be a mid model year change for 2018 but nothing has been confirmed. You should expect to see the 3.3T replace the NA 3.8 V6 in the coming years.
+Redline Reviews srry, I meant to say the Genesis protype version of coup and the sedan! How different will it be and with the Hyundai company under the Genesis badged version of 6 new models coming out by 2020? if you have some inside scoop about how different overall look and the powertrain with the new interior!
OK, we're thinking about picking up a used compact SUV, so I spent an entire Sunday doing research and watching reviews of the '17 models which are positively affordable now that they are a few years old. This was hands-down the absolute best review I watched all day. You have a natural gift for this sort of work, and it's not just the editing.
I just bought a 2018 model. EX panoramic roof, heated seats, heated steering wheel. 5800 miles. Clean title. $22200 that means, about 11k less than a brand new with the same features....
I rode in a rental of this the other day and I was pleasantly surprised I must say. The only thing I don't like is the turn signal lights on the rear are down by the bumper. I found it very comfortable to ride in and quiet.
Hi is it comfortable and quiet on highway. Is it a good highway cruiser. Looking for a powerful vehicle in this segment but also need something smooth and comfortable. Would you recommend this ?
I disagree that FWD SUVs are pointless. AWD/4WD adds a lot of weight and does affect MPG. It is also just one more potential component that could break over time. It can also raise insurance rates on certain vehicles. AWD/4WD is really only needed if you plan on doing offroad adventuring or if you get a lot of inclement weather, but even then, in the snow, snow tires will be the most important thing. Saving money is always smart, too.
Sofyan, I fully agree with you. It's admirable that KIA went a different route with this vehicle. That definitely makes it special over some of the other automobile makers in the CUV segment. That being said, I can understand that certain people don't like the front-end, but I most certainly do like it, a lot, actually. If I was in the market this car might actually take my money.
It amazes me that none of the reviews say anything about the stereo system of vehicles. Some systems are clearly better than the others but there is no mention of them.
Kia gave a slight refresh to the 2020 Sportage. More standard features even on the base trim like an 8" touchscreen. I got the base trim level 2020 LX AWD with the optional $1795 LX Popular Package. I love this car! The non-turbo 2.4L engine at 181hp and 175 lb/ft torque is more than adequate for daily driving. It has good driving dynamics... nimble and sporty feeling but yet still very comfortable and quiet. I'm averaging 25 MPG in mixed driving with mine. You also don't see a Sportage everywhere you go like you do a RAV4, CR/V, CX5, Escape or Equinox... I think it looks better than all of them inside and out. It looks and feels like a sport/luxury SUV, with more features for less money than competitors in the same class. Great value especially when you consider that Hyundai/Kia vehicles have the longest warranty in the business.
BEWARE!!! 2.4 L engines have been recalled on all the 2017 models. Mine went at 38,990 with no warning. Oil changes every three thousand also. True story . Read online before you buy!
Hey Sofyan, Just wanted to say, I love watching your reviews, you present them in a style that makes me interested to watch, Im not even in a market for a car lol. If I wanna learn about a car, I go to UA-cam, type in the car year make and model and make sure that its a "Redline" review. Keep up the good work!
i keep coming back to your reviews,i think you do a great job all around, keep up the good work, these videos are priceless for those shopping around for a new vehicle.
I personally like the look of the front end, especially the 2 wheel drive version. I think I have seen too many Rogues, Rav4s and CRVs which has caused me like anything that is different. I also don't understand why everyone likes the look of the Rouge when it has always looked like a giant egg to me.
I drive this one in a 2.0 diesel turbo 4 wd automatic version , have had the last4 years 2 x RAV 4 diesels (2010 and 2014 model ) this Kia. Leaves the Toyota,s for dead ....... KIA ,s engines / gearbox and finishing much better . Front design ? Dare to be different ! ....clever German design .
great review :), thank you. i feel you should have reviews on the active driver assist features in detail too, because it makes a huge impact on buying these new vehicles or not. it is a deal breaker.
Decently upsets me that I have the sister car- the 17 Tucson Limited w/ the Ultimate package yet my Tucson has no heated steering wheel, no front parking sensors, no folding mirrors, no paddle shifters, +66hp- but I got heated rear seats while the Sportage doesn’t? I would have sacrificed my heated rear seats for the front parking sensors alone. I would have gotten this Sportage if I wasn’t so put off by the exterior styling.
Sofyan, Keep the reviews coming! Since you choose such awesome music in your lead-ins, I suggest you credit the musicians' work. This is only a suggestion. Not a copyright cop talking here. I often would like to listen to the full track of some of the segments of music you pick for your reviews. Thanks!
Greeeeed. All vehicle company owners are nothing but greedy. KIA used to be affordable and now a new sportage is like 35K are you kidding? This is ridiculous, you shouldn't have to be a doctor or retired to own a damn KIA!
***** "how ppl buy a car with a cvt boggles my mind" Probably because you don't have a mind. "I'd pick a 90s sportage over a 2017 crv with cvt" That's your choice and that is you who will suffer the consequences. "fuck that." What do you mean, is it good or bad?
Matthew Palanca Yea, i agree the gas consumption is one of the worst in its class i think. The bmw x1 gets way better gas mileage and is an awd and has more horse power and torque.
You whined about equinox not having adaptive cruise control but was so nice about it here. It's a very important feature and every vehicle should have it atleast as an option. Lot of comfort in highway driving.
The rear end looks elegant and expensive kind of like a Porsche. The front... Well it KIND of looks like a Cayenne... Mixed with a Subaru B9 Tribeca and some sort of french car.
I'm deciding between this, Tucson and the CX5. Help me pick?! Which has the best ride/handling, looks, safety tech, which is more enthusiast like and which overall is the most refined?
My 2013 Sportage still no problem.. except i did change the rear passenger wheel hub after hitting a pallet at 55 mph in free way.. I'm a big Honda fan and i don't take car to shop except Smog check and i do fix car for fun..I still have 98 honda civic with over 250,000 miles and still the same clutch.. The reason i switch to Kia is that Honda's back in 2013 are UGLY design.. so, i took my chances trying Kia .. So far i'm happy! I just need to change my Sportage front brake soon ...
Sofyan, I'm wondering why you feel that one should buy an all wheel drive SUV over a front wheel drive SUV in all circumstances? Many small SUVs have all wheel drive systems of dubious efficacy which do not add much beyond additional weight and cost if the SUV is not going to be used in a wet/snowy region.
Crunching numbers I've found on purchase prices, incentives, and residuals, this looks to be a $0 down $300/month 36/12 lease vehicle. Hard to beat the value.
Bruno TaTa got my 2017 SX fwd for about $350 for a 39 month /12,000 miles a year lease. Currently have about 16,000 miles on it and I’ve had no problems with it. Still impressed on how solid it still feels.
Gorgeous interior, however the front end to me at least is god awful. The back looks good. Worth a look, and I would never buy a crossover because I think they're really stupid and useless besides the convenience of AWD, but I don't know if I could get over that front end.
I don't see any driver's seat memory buttons. So my guess is that even this top trim doesn't have it. Can someone let me know if the SX Turbo has it? Bc I didn't see the buttons anywhere when he entered the car
This looks dynamite in person. Test drove this and the CX-5 and I must say I loved the KIA so much more, it looks and feels super high quality and is a fun vehicle to drive.
I've noticed that alot of the new gdi engines are very loud. What causes that? My 2010 Corolla has 160k miles and is still very quiet with the hood up.
Trust me you DO NOT want the DCT Tucson...!!! Nothing but trouble with that tranny set-up. Which is why they've done away with it for 2019 moving forward. If the Tucson had put this set-up in the new 2019 i would have purchased it without a second though. But i'll stick with the vehicle on my short list 2018 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0L. I don't know if the front end of the Sportage appeals too me. It looks to "bug eyed" for my tastes. Sometimes being too busy isn't a good thing.
Drove the base model.Handeled like a champ.Rugged suspension yet not hard.It is not quite though.I am having hearing loss and it blew my eardrums.Very disappointing.
Hmm. I wonder if I would get one of these in the SX trim with AWD or a Subaru Forester XT Touring for about the same money. The Kia looks more upscale to my eyes. Longer warranty. The Forester has more cargo room. Depends if you are driving in the snow a lot I suppose.
a straight shooter Congrats on your new Sorento. I'm driving a 2006 Honda Odyssey with 196,000 miles. Runs like new, was garage kept, and paid off is a nice feature. 😁 I do want to get something new or close to new in the next year or so. Now Kia is launching the 2019 Sorento with the 8 speed transmission. Subaru is launching the 2019 Forester at the New York auto show. Let's see what it looks like and if they keep the turbo version. I think the Sorento is a higher class nicer SUV than the Forester with more comfortable seats and quieter. . I am sure nicer to drive. The Forester XT is quicker, smaller. Probably more fun. Better AWD system.. Identical cargo capacity between the two with the seats folded down, about 73 cu. ft. . Subaru will hold value better but higher discounts and rebates available in the Kia. Probably the best deal is to get a 1 to 2 year old Sorento SX. Maybe a 2017 after the 2019's come out.
Gary Brown Thanks, Gary. I guess I was not clear about my Kia. In October of last year I bought a 2018 Sportage SX, not a Sorrento. In my eyes Sorrento is a little too big for my needs, and, although it felt comfortable and drove well when I took it for a test drive , I decided to get a Sportage instead. My SX is AWD and it comes loaded with 2.0 Turbo engine for less than I would get for a less equipped Sorrento with a less powerful 2.4 engine. I do find a few things disappointing about this car: 1. No adaptive cruise control. It alteady has all the equipment required for it, but somehow the adaptive cruise control is not an option 2. Poor driver's seat thigh support, at least for me 3. The vehicle looks tall, however, the ground clearance is less than 7 inches. So far it has not been an issue, but still it would be nice to know there is a little more room under the car. Otherwise, this has been a good vehicle so far. Btw, I looked into Subaru Forester and Outback prior to buying Sportage, and I liked them a lot, especially Outback, but the Subaru dealer would not offer me a good price for my trade-in so I went with Kia. In any case, have fun with your new car when you get it.
a straight shooter Oops. I realized after that this was a review of the Sportage. I drove the Sportage EX. I thought it was a great deal. Nice car with leather and 18 inch rims for around 25k. I want something faster than the EX though. I never got to drive the turbo. The car looks cool. The one thing I didn't like was that the head rests seemed fixed too far forward and were not adjustable in the EX. Yes I agree. KIA dealers will negotiate more than Subaru. I saw the Sportage SX as a lower price alternative to the Acura RDX. Looks like a Porsche from the front. Would be nice if it also had the cargo capacity of the forester or the RDX.
Not related to this response or the video, but do you have plans to review the 2017 Elantra Sport when it comes later this year? As well as the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo?
I like how Kia is taking a chance with the styling. Call me crazy but I like it
Peter Scheyer use to design cars for Audi. Now, his the head designer at Kia/Hyundai.
I like it too, but 2019 will be an improvement.
@@nbau707LMAO! I agree. This design is fugly to my eyes. But much respect to those who like it. Design is subjective.
I like a lot of Kia models. Their parent company Hyundai is a little more chrome and sometimes overdone to me. Still love them.
@@1quickster no wonder Kia and Hyundai are making some stylish vehicles now

True dat 💯
just bought my new SX Turbo. absolutely love it!!!
Phil Dawe what color did you get. I love the Grey blue color
I got the bronze
Awesome. I can't seem to do bronze. White red or grey or that grey blue are the colors I want. Congrats though. Glad v you like your car
Hi is it comfortable and quiet on highway. Is it a good highway cruiser. Looking for a powerful vehicle in this segment but also need something smooth and comfortable. Would you recommend this ?
Phil Dawe yeah man this SUV rocks! I just brought the 2018 ex, not as fast and stylish as yours but I love it
I'm really glad you have reviewed this. It is one of the SUVs I'm looking at. You do an awesome job. Thank you!

Bad joke, sorry. 🙊
Abdelmelik Farooq Alwahid most certainly. But they replaced the engine and supposedly fixed the issue. 🤣
..love the new design. This is the most unique and attractive of the compact suv's.

In person this car looks great
No matter how nice it is, it still have that KIA badge and it will depreciate like crazy!!!
I'm counting on it. lol! i like the premium features but not the price tag specially being such a thirsty car
I really like the way the Sportage looks, but I would choose the Tucson I think, it's a couple thousand cheaper for the top trim than the Sportage.
Love the reviews man, great work and full of facts. Keep them coming.
I like this better than the Tuscon. Definitely my next car.
2023 and still love it

one of the best MID range SUV with the options :) WORLDWIDE
Great review as usual!

Ricky Ryan Ray ...
You can get a 2018 Sportage LX fwd 2.4 GDI for about $21,000 after negotiating
They went the Nissan Juke route with the front end. Looks strange as hell, but the back end looks great.
The tail end looks like Porsche 2017 design. Front is a love it or hate it. Looks just meh to me.
But meh per say isn't bad. I don't like either, but if I was in the market for a car like this, I might just get this KIA.
Yeah, if it wasn't for the terrible fuel economy, I'd chose this over the CRV and Tucson.

the new mode kia Sportage got luxury and style more better than older model sportage.
Sofyan , what does the toggle switch do on the back of the right stalk? Tnx! Great review.
It's probably the controls for the rear wiper
+Redline Reviewes Really nice video :D one question: would you rather buy the sorento or the sportage as a family car?
Like the reviews but can you do anything else besides Kia's and Hyundai's??
This was the last Hyundai/Kia video we had left to upload, we promise it'll be something else next ;)
go pats

Andrew Braun i would say that if you dont need AWD and dont plan to tow small trailers you would be better served with a hatchback
Excellent review as always. Super helpful! Do the BMW X1 !!!
You didn't try the paddle shifters.... But nice review tho sofyan.... Keep up the good work. I always watch your reviews
Front end reminds me of the pre-facelifted Subaru B9 Tribeca
Good thorough review. Very helpful.
The back of this car looks so attractive with these LED Lights at the back 😍.

when are u doing a review on the 2016 chrysler Pacifica??
i love the new styling
I remember when Kia was known for being cheap and the buy one get one sale they had a few years ago :/
What is Eco Dynamics?.Are all Kia Sportage 4th Gen 2017 models "Eco Dynamics" certified?.

Why do they make windows smaller and smaller? You can see far but you can not see close.
I was interested in this car but no, I'll keep me 2007 civic.
Why doesn't it come with surround view camera and rear heated seats? Their sister Hyundai does !
How about some reviews on the new mini van and others ?

Seems you've a soft spot for Kia.
Dude, come on man. The original Sportage was not in competition with the Jeep Cherokee.. That's disrespectful to Jeep...
