Today we did the 1000 peso challenge, Lay is always interested to see how far 1000 pesos will take her in other Asian countries and she was quite shocked at the amount you can do in a major city in Vietnam for the money, we even go to visit museums and we were just a little over budget so it is definitely one of the most affordable countries in the world.

Good to see a proper reaction to the war museum. I have seen American UA-camrs get all butt hurt about the museum telling the truth about the war and the criminal behaviour of the US and South Vietnam during the conflict. Unfortunately it seems that Americans have been taught the Hollywood version of what happened instead of the truth. You have to respect the Vietnamese for not holding grudges and hatred over the American war as they call it.
In that post office 25 years ago they had phone booths , it was one of the few places you could place an overseas call at a half decent price. I meet an old Vietnamese man there that became a regular tour guide , he recognized my Australian accent , he had been a "scout" for thee Australian army during the Vietnam war
The war museum was so interesting. Sad, and tragic. Even the Americans that were fighting that war, did not want to be there, huge impact as a returning soldier. So much PTSD, so many homeless veterans. What a huge waste of humanity for both countries. Thank you for sharing.

Poor Lay thinking her spring rolls were made with Dog. Here is a true story. This happened years ago when I was maybe 8 years old. My parents had a couple that were friends the guys name was Ringo. Every time we would go to visit them the guy had maybe 50 or more cats on his roof. Dad asked why don't you call someone to get them off. Ringo said he has called everyone and no one is doing anything. I asked why are they always on your roof and not on any others. Ringo said I have no F N idea. Now this happen in Maine. One weekend we was all invited to Ringo's for dinner. We all ate and most had seconds and thirds. Ringo said eat up eat all you can.
After my dad went out for a smoke and a drink. I went out as well . Now my Dad was a big man 6'2 and an ex cop. Most people didn't mess with him and if they did they never did it again. While we was outside Ringo came out to join us. Dad taps his belly and said damn good meal. Ringo said thanks. dad pulls a drag off his pipe then said I see you took care of the cat problem. Ringo said oh you noticed that? Dad said well there isn't any on the roof. Dad asked so who did you get to come take care of the problem? Ringo said no one? Dad asked well how did you get them off your roof and stay off? Ringo looked dead in my dad's eyes and said WTF do you think you ate tonight. Dad thinks a minute and I was already puking. I was puking and asked dad at the same time we are gonna die ? Dad are we going to hell? Dad we are F. Dad grabs me by the back of my neck and said BOY! don't you say one F ing word Do YOU HEAR Me. I puked more. Then the man my dad that would scare most men started puking.
I said looks like them Cats 9 lives were up. We were still puking. Ringo was laughing at us. Dad asked is this a F ing joke did you really. As Ringo was laughing he said no it isn't a joke but it is funny as hell because you all loved it till I told you what was in it. dad told mom it was time to go home and get the kids in the car. We was a family of 10 at the time. I go to get in the car and dad grabs me and puts pressure on my neck and said remember not one F ing word. I have no real understanding why he didn't want the family to know at the time. Read the other half to hear the rest of the story.

French colonialism did result in some unique benefits for Vietnam, with regards to cuisine.
Unfortunately, American colonialism did not do much for Filipino cuisine... except for McD's. :)

My Uncle was in the US Air Force and was stained in South Vietnam in late 1966 and early 1967! He always laughed before he died in 2018 about the VietCong basically kicking out, first the French in the 1950s, and then the Americans in the 1970s to become a Communist Country only to see Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos literally become more Capitalist than many Western Countries today!!! 😂🤣😂

In Philippines one Chooks-to-Go oven roasted chicken and motorcycle taxis would be close to what you spent per person for full day there. Absolutely excellent prices in Vietnam 🍜🍻

I loved this video, the house with the secret bunker was brilliant, and there are probably many all over Saigon. The food and coffees you had looked amazing. The Agent Orange was just a dreadful thing to do to people, a herbicidal warfare meant to defoliate forests and vegetation but had affected millions of people including children and caused them horrific deformities, not an aspect of war people would expect but the USA did this. The food you had today looked good, but the option of still being able to eat dog meat is unpleasant (and that is putting it mildly) but it does still exist not only in Vietnam but in other parts of Asia including the Philippines but China being the biggest. They steal people's dogs from villages and throw them into cages, put them onto lorries and take them to slaughter houses and restaurants where they are treated so badly and tortured before death, this is a reason I could not personally visit any of these countries as it is a big business financially but the cruelty involved is disgusting and should not be happening in this day and age. This a reality, and not meant as a negative towards you two travelling and eating out on vlogs but had to mention the cruelty aspect and the fact it is happening allover Asia still!
I thought the word "challenge" would mean to sacrifice and eat just once or twice a day instead of continuing eating delicious food and drinking coffee in restaurants like always. Where is the challenge 😅
Still after the vietnam war been over 50 years theres still this division between the north..and south.. the war that america lost..
"false dog meat" is mostly pork. dog meat is more of a delicacy and seen more often in the north.

So on the way home and it was a long drive about 2 hours or so with a car packed full of 10 people. I said nothing at first I know I could not puke anymore nothing was going to come out . Then mom said that was a good meal wasn't it. Dad said yea what ever. Mom said WTF is wrong with you what is wrong . Dad said nothing. Mom said well don't you think it was a good meal.? Dad said yeah yeah yeah ok now shut up and let me drive. I noticed dad looked like he was going to puke. I said Dad? Dad said shut up son. I said but Dad? Dad said I told you to shut up and if you say another word it will be your last.
Then my brothers and sisters started to agree with my Mom how the food was so good. Oh they were going on and on. They then said something about how they would love to eat more of that. My dad had a look I would not have known how to say he looked until I saw my first dead man . Yes my Dad looked like a dead man driving. A few of my older brothers were telling how they had three and 4 helpings. Mom said it was so good she had 2. My sisters had 2 and 3 helpings. Dad pulls over the side and said he needs to pee. Walks in the woods a few minutes later comes out . I knew he had to puke he was looking a little better lmao. About an hour left of the trip and dad looking normal as he could they were still talking about the meal. Then everyone looked at me and said how come you didn't say anything about the meal. Dad turns looks at me and said well son say something nice about the meal. Oh Boy I said I wonder what kind of meat was in that?
Dad said You Son Of A Biotch. Mom looked at dad and asked what the hell is going on? Dad said nothing lets just get home. Mom said son you know something you better tell me. Well I knew the cat was out of the bag so I said sorry dad but looked at mom and said notice there was no cats on the roof. Dad said I am going to kill you boy. Mom said no and looked at my dad and said is this true. Dad said yes we ate F ing Cats . Everyone in that car was puking even my dad as he was driving. They puked all the way home. The inside of the car was like a puke fest. Dad tried like 20 times to say he was going to kill me but everytime someone started puking. A couple of my brothers puked and I said that must be helping number 3. I knew my dad was going to kill me so I wanted to get all the fun in I could. Then my oldest sister puked again and I said wow look at that I wonder what cat that was you ate.
Mom then asked if this is all true why wasn't I puking and dad looks at her and said he can't puke he already puked his guts out befor we left. There was so much puke in the car all over the place. Then I said now I understand the reason you didn't want me to say anything Dad you didn't want them puking in the car. He said well now you can clean it all up. I said no I will wait till you kill me it isn't my puke. No lie 2 days after Dad got a different car . We could not sit in that car ever again because of that night and it went right to a junk yard. No dad didn't kill me but I thought for sure he was going to.

Lay what happen your face like swollen and puffy eyes .I remember it happen to me I ate candy on Halloween for the first time in 11 months and woke up the next day with a face so swollen that it was literally uncomfortable. It was obvious what was the cause as it was the first time I'd eaten sugar in any quantity since I started keto in January. Given how my body reacted to a few mini Snickers I can just imagine how unhealthy I was through my first 20years when I was eating sugar by the bucket load! Crazy you need to check to the doctor Lay I'm Just Concern.
